  1. That explains why it looks so good!
  2. Glad you finally got it fixed! It can really be a big hassle to have to send watches back for repair to a dealer. I've done it a few times but now I just send them to a watch maker that is stateside and pay for it myself. It's much faster and it actually gets FIXED the first time! HaHa
  3. We need Jkay to jump in here! He's the resident Deep Sea expert. He can tell you which version this is and what flaws it may have.
  4. WM9 V1, flat "S" on the dial?
  5. Go with the Asian clone ETA 2836 and save yourself some cash. They are pretty good movements that can be repaired easily by about any competent watch maker. I agree with the other members about having the seals greased and epoxy the HEV if you'll taking the watch in the drink. Unless the factories have fixed it, the HEV on the Deep Sea can be pushed in, which is the opposite of how it should function.
  6. That is a nice dial and it's on my watch list but I'm having trouble coughing up $500 bucks for dial..... On a side note, did you guys see the Deep Sea dial for sale on eBay? $700 bucks but it does indeed look gen...
  7. What quality concerns are you referring to? Movement issues? Or overall flaws in the watch that make it "not 1:1" as advertised?
  8. I don't see anything but a website homepage?
  9. Watchers review was an excellent read! He reviewed the watch then tore it down and installed gen and aftermarket parts on it making it really nice. I'm off to work now but I'll dig up the thread later tonight and link it here for you.
  10. Here we go, blowing it all out of proportion when we don't know anything definite yet! Don't speculate, wait for the dealers to show up and tell us for sure what's been affected..... I'm sure it will put a damper on some reps but not all, so it's not the end of reps as we know them...........Yet.....
  11. Looking good E! I can't help it, I'm starting to get a little excited! If there are any other parts you need for yours (or mine) just let me know. Hell I might have them here somewhere? Let me know what you think of the new SD when it arrives. I have a feeling you'll like it.
  12. Trusted dealers, there is a whole sub forum here devoted to trusted dealers
  13. The guy probably isn't even in "financial trouble" It's just a good reason to try and sell a rep as a gen for quick cash. Then if the buyer has done his homework and DOES call him out as it being a fake then he has the sympathy story to fall back on... " I didn't know it was a fake and paid $3500 bucks for it" "Now what am I going to do." That draws the anger away from him trying to sell you a fake watch and make you the buyer feel sorry for his fall on hard times. Oldest crook trick in the book!
  14. Not a BK Sub-C but just the regular ole' Noob version was water resistant for me down to 22ft and in many showers.... I usually test all my reps by shower/pool/lake/ocean after I've simply greased the seals and o-rings and I've never had one fail yet....Lucky I guess? My newest SD went to the local watch shop and passed a 10ATM W/R test with flying colors and I haven't greased anything on it yet.... The newest subs/SD's are getting pretty good IMO with their overall case construction.
  15. If he lives in a multimillion dollar mansion then I'd say gen, he has upwards of $300-$400 THOUSAND dollars worth of watches there in the 2 boxes if they are gen???
  16. He has the price and specs up now, DG2813, $118 bucks... Not bad, but now that I look at the "Cartier" I agree with redwatch something does look off??
  17. I saw this for sale today, PBDad vintage dial magic. Looks good IMO. Congrats!
  18. The white lettered one looks pretty decent, not sure if the "red" model is real or fantasy though? It needs CG trimming and this one has the crappy pearl. The pearl can be popped out to look older though.
  19. Been away for while? The reason I ask is because it DID arrive and Watcher did an excellent review and then tear-down in which he eventually polished the rehaut and installed a aftermarket Clark's crystal. Search for posts from "watcher" are you'll find it.
  20. There is a coronet on the flip lock, not the clasp like it should be.
  21. If your not going to mod the SD with gen parts or "franken" it I'd stay the heck away from the SA3135! There are several threads on it's flaws. The new SD is not available with the 3135 yet anyway so get the Asian ETA clone 2836. Then trim the CG's and put in a Watch Material pearl and you're set!
  22. I'd say they are the same cases etc, just the movement. The inserts, pearl, etc look exactly the same. So pick your movement and order.
  23. Good points Dee. The crown on mine was swapped with a gen and it really looks much better now. The factory crown was too tall/long and the gen is perfect and screws down flush with the case. The crystal is the only real troublesome problem, member "watcher" did a tear down review and tried to use a gen crystal but it wouldn't fit (or an aftermarket). He eventually modded the watch and made it fit by tossing out the crystal gasket and using UV glue to hold the crystal in. I'll just keep the original crystal because I don't want to have to toss the gasket and glue the crystal in. Also the only aftermarket crystal available is the Clarks and it's mineral glass. Another down side of the swap it will scratch easily...
  24. I really like the looks of this one! I love the LV but don't like the green insert, this is basically the LV with a black insert! It's also superlumed and for the $128 price tag it's a steal with a Asian ETA clone. The dial printing looks good, Good end link fit, crown guards aren't too bad just need a little trim, the crystal height looks great, the date is off center but that may not be so bad on the actual watch you get. It's a N00B Factory watch and they are known to be pretty good anyway. It's not really a fantasy watch either because this mod of the 16600LV is very common on the rolex forum. Get it, and I will too!
  25. I'm not the anal-retentive type when it comes to minor flaws but the new superlumed SD that the cartel dealers have is pretty dang good IMO. I have 2 Noob factory Super Sea Dwellers V2 (discontinued) and 2 of these new SD's and they are hard to tell apart visually. With a slight crown guard trim and a watch material pearl this one is pretty good. The casebacks and bezels of the new SD will fit the older SSD, these are the only parts I've tried so far. I think it goes to show just how close the two models are that the parts can be interchanged.
