The US has a few good modders too, but most will only work on gen watches..... Jay @ MCWW (Motor City Watch Works) Jack @ IWW and Ken Setzer to name a few. Ole PBDad is in the US and has a pretty good hand.

Anyone have any thoughts on Perfect Clones Sea Dweller?

Pretty good watch outta the box but with a few of the above mentioned mods (mainly gen crown, insert, and a CG trim) and it's a winner! -
TC Gen Spec Bezel Insert & Pearl Project Update

Looking really good! -
I'm sooo glad you mentioned headlights!! I have a 2010 Tahoe and I noticed yesterday that the big clear lens on the headlight are strating to get a little Hazy or foggy looking. I never thought about using my polywatch on them!! Thanks again,

Shave the insert, on the outside edge.

I don't see why you even started this thread really?? If you've bought more than 6-8 reps then it's safe to say you'll get one DOA watch. It happens, and shipping very well could have caused it! Trust me about the damage during shipping, I've worked for USPS for years and slung my fair share of parcels across the workroom into their respective bins.... The shock from a parcel hitting a wall can and will unseat a balance. The same way dropping it from your wrist to the floor can.

Nice! I would rough of the crystal a little bit with a scotch bright green pad just put a few swirlies on the crystal and make it look a little worn.

I agree, stay away.... Why would someone polish off the serial and model numbers? This area is never seen anyway? I smell a rat here.

Welcome! Show us pics of your new sub when it arrives!

Seconded.....Thanks for the tips and the offer to help out the membership!

I agree with you, it needs a little more bleaching. Did you remove the pearl before soaking it? You probably should remove it for the next soak. (if you didn't the first time)

Wow, just WOW! I'll take one or two myself! Please make a bunch of them because I see this is going to be the BEST vintage case ever....

Really really nice! Congrats!

The bezels on these SD's are a PITA to remove. The older super sea dweller was the same, most modders won't even attemp removing the bezels from the SD reps for fear of damaging/bending it. It's a very tight compression/snap on fit and very hard to pop it off and even harder to pop back on. The bezel on my SSD was stuck and wouldn't rotate so I sent it to PBDad for a relume and asked him to try and fix the bezel issue for me. At first he said he wouldn't mess with it because of this known problem but I convienced him to try it and if it messed it up I wouldn't hold him responsible. He said it was a bugger to deal with but he fixed it!

Good choice, this one looks pretty good.

There really isn't a good rep of the 14060 no-date sub (older model) but they just released a new 114060 no-date Ceramic bezeled sub that the dealers are selling that looks decent. It's the new bigger case so it will wear bigger than the traditional no date sub.

My Franken Rolex SeaDweller 16600 V2 - Questions/Bracelet
duke1973 replied to watchfreund's topic in The Rolex Area
E is correct, none of the Sea Dwellers (SSD or New SD) will accept a gen crystal....Well, with out modification. Watcher, a member here installed one on his SD a while back but he had to toss the crystal gasket and UV glue the crystal to the case/rehaut. It looked great but no guarentee it was water resistant. -
Congrats! It turned out beautiful! I would love to do something like this but I don't have the patience it takes to wait, get parts one by one, wait, get more parts, and wait some more! Kudos to those of you that have the patirnce to build these masterpieces!

Nice red! The OP didn't do his "due diligence" it seems....

That's a good one! Thanks for posting. -
Really nice pictures! Awesome watch too!

I would just get the newest version available from Angus or Josh with the Asian clone ETA 2836 movement. It's cheaper than the 3135 clone and an overall better movement. Almost all the reps I have are the asian 2836 and I've only had a couple of problems out of 40+ reps with this movement. If the A2836 does have problems down the road any competent watchmaker can fix it with ETA parts.
