  1. You know who else wanted people to show their ID cards upon request? The SS.
  2. I'm in Ottawa... theres nobody here who will touch reps. I visited every single local watch repair shop, and I always get the same pompous ass reply: we could, but we won't. The Zigmeisterzumba, as far as I know, is on vacation or break or something like that. I tried contact him many times, but my messages never get through...
  3. Tomorrow is looking to be another cold cold Canadian day, so I'm wearing the frosty and sleek Patek Philippe Nautilus from Narikaa, MBK edition. This watch has flawless precision and accuracy, and looks just perfect with the special and rare classic-style easy to wind crown, complete with finely engraved logo. I could stare at this watch all day - but alas, its a Monday, meaning there's work to be done!!
  4. I like this watch, but what I like more is your light tent set-up. You have to share with us how you can achieve those breathtaking photos!
  5. I disagree with you!!! Sizing people up on the basis of appearance can be very misleading. Where I live, there are many minimum wage salespeople who wear good fitting suits and carry themselves quite convincingly, but they barely have a few bucks to their name. The stereotypical champagne-sipping walking-talking bank safe business man/woman is dead; these days, I know many people who dress very casual but have a wallet that you would need an industrial size crane to lift. Example: one local millionaire in my city owns a tech company. He wears t-shirts and jeans, drives a Dodge Caravan 1998, and wears a timex... but if you saw his house.... uh oh....... castle Some people invest their money into very specific things, forgetting the rest. For some, image isn't everything. I usually find that the most "successful looking" people are really the most insecure and quite often have little beyond the few expensive possessions they affix unto themselves for public viewing.
  6. Gosh, some real beautiful watches being worn this weekend. Lots of people with great taste here that's for sure! Beauty; with the gorgeous and rare classic ultra-realistic vintage-style crown that many don't come with anymore. Narikaa definitely pulled it off with this one, let me tell you. Wow. Perfection.
  7. Many of my watches have had this occur when they are first delivered, since they sit in -20 to -30 degree C in the mailbox and then go into a warm house, so its a big fog on the inside but it always goes away. Probably wouldn't happen on the real thing, but hey...
  8. I wonder if the "double AR" on this timepiece is the same "ar sticker" that comes on the Breitling for Bentley which many members were angry about since it just peels off... This is really a "bad ass" watch. Ever since Josh posted the pictures, I've been dying to look at the dimensions. This thing is going to be massive. I won't get one, because right now I am waiting until they release the reliable Daytona... patiently... and until that time it won't be anymore reps for me!
  9. The Chery Amulet is a pretty nice looking car actually - it's like they modernized the 155, one of my favorite Alfa Romeo. However, judging by how they behave in accidents, I certainly wouldn't want one... unless to end up like the footage on Signal 30!!!
  10. Stunning. Rolex quality and precision sans the cost... but a name that's quickly gaining popularity. Certainly a brand to consider for gen purchase.
  11. I understand what you're saying, but I have to disagree. The classic question around rep watches is whether the expense is really justified, considering the quality, accuracy, and so on. When somebody gets a gen from a respectable brand, its always worth looking into. After all, if a rep owner buys a gen, that means it has to be really special. I know that with my budget I would buy a gen that really meant something to me - and I know it would be a purchase I would share with the community just for that reason. This is a board for rep lovers - and so to many extents - it is thus a board for true watch enthusiasts. But primarily it is a board of friends, and Tribal has taken time out of his day to post some pictures for his friends - that's us - me and you. Gosh, I'm glad he did, because the watch is lovely and certainly worthy of accolade.
  12. I would just get a noobmariner/nymphomariner if I was you... you can't beat the price, the accuracy is simply astonishing even compared to the ultimate versions offered by our mega dealers. Trust me, these watches will get boring eventually... its best to have a $100 paperweight than a $600 one.
  13. Correct, but there is another "myth" around this - that solid 18K gold (as advertised) midlinks are 100% that... which they aren't. At best the majority of materials used is 10K solid gold with 18K plate over top.
  14. That Casio is pretty flash...
  15. I decided to strap on some bling-bling today... the Patek Nautilus' 4 hour power reserve was getting a little annoying since I'm working at the desk all day long...
  16. While the prices have gone up noticeable, good deals still exist. The noob submariners are a really good example of this. Of course, while the HBBs and latest IWCs are going to really make you tremble, many great $98-$118 watches still exist and are often just as fun to wear as the $400+ super duper turbo xtreme versions...
  17. Beauty! So much nicer than the strap version... gosh... I bet everyone who bought the strap version is trying to source the bracelet now. Gorgeous!
  18. I would like it a lot more of the crown and chrono depressors were on the right side... I can already imagine the inconvenience of setting the time. Not to mention, it looks like a mirrored reflection of itself. There are ways to make the "traditional" chrono look more unique, but flipping everything to the opposite end is just a lazy way to (try to) do it. Moreover, I find the rubber strap to be quite a misunderstanding considering the price range is so steep. A piece of rubber? On a luxury timepiece? In my opinion this watch is really nothing special. Sorry!
  19. I'm not too sure why you would buy from an unchecked source when you have similar pieces and prices being offered here from reliable dealers who have proven themselves worthy of business in a very consistent manner.
  20. They have the right idea introducing that center axis Tourbillon, because the majority of high end models use exactly that setup. Only Blancpain and a few other obscure marques shy away from that design, so it will be interesting to see how the manufacturers incorporate this new technology into our world. More than likely, if the first tourbillon was any development, the process will be experimental with much failure at the beginning but eventual triumph that will have a direct impact upon our community.
  21. Absolutely wonderful... what a great accomplishment. I always said that this forum is the best one for the rep community - its just so friendly and informative. I believe that number will keep on growing and growing and growing... FunFact: In 1256, Don Alonso P
  22. Pretty accurate in terms of appearance, but I think there's some kind of inconsistency with the chronograph function. The 6:00 subdial is running while the others are stopped? In reality, the 9:00 runs constantly while the 12:00 and 6:00 (and large seconds hand) remain still until started. I assume it is a quartz chrono at that price... meaning the running seconds tick? Still, its not a bad deal considering the price. I have the full-on 7750 version and its one of my favorites, though I don't wear it that often anymore. This is a great watch, wear it well!
  23. I've purchased one used watch, a 2 year old Chinese Tourbillon. The timepiece was not working, but the seller had it completely overhauled, and I got a great deal. The entire transaction was excellent and I couldn't have been happier. I believe that because reps are such risky business in terms of quality, it is much better to purchase only a second-hand rep that has had its movement examined and adjusted by a trained professional, and has no history of malfunctions.
  24. Corgi sez: it's your own fault for making your forum name too unique!!
  25. Big-time "hello and welcome" over here from Ottawa!! The next time your in town stop in for a visit! !Go Sens Go!
