  1. Hi! Recently Joshua introduced a new model into his collection... a vintage Daytona 6263 manual wind. You may be thinking this is nothing special, as this watch has already been on sale for months, but this one is supposedly "upgraded". The changes made are frozen 6:00 subdial hand (excellent) and "better dial print". This last claim I find troublesome because in my opinion the text looks a little (read: extremely) too large. I will let you decide for yourselves; gen... Can someone please explain to me if what I see is correct or if my eyeballs have malfunctioned?
  2. I wear a different watch every few days... only exception is when I buy a new one then I wear it constantly... but if the weather is bad I wear my two-tone submariner because it is the only one water proof
  3. Definitely going to be wearing the Navitimer this weekend.
  4. I only wish his website mentioned prices and specifications of the watches... He has some watches i have never seen before, namely very attractive Patek chronographs with decorated movements... very rare..
  5. Am I bananas or what? I would just get the $98 beginermariner from Joshua (or even more affordable Nymphomariner from Narikaa) and pat myself on the back! Like I said. I'm bananas.
  6. The Cartier will always be closer because fakey fakey diamonds always look cheapo cheapo my friend
  7. You know, I don't particularly like the design of this watch. However, let me place myself in your situation hypothetically. If I was very passionate about the Hublot Big Bangs, say as passionate as I am about the Patek Philippe 5970G, it would be very difficult to resist buying one - especially if it was so well replicated. In that sense, if the design appeals to you, I'm all for it - but in my opinion, just buying a rep 'because it is very close to the original' is neither a justification for price nor personal appeal. Just because it is a very good rep doesn't make me like it any more... and the obscene price it costs compared to other reps (considering it is, after all, an Asian movement that is nothing special) makes me think twice regarding whether or not this is a wise investment. However, if you like this watch very much, then this release will make life 'heaven on Earth' for you! And it always makes me happy when a rep makes a person happy. Goodness knows there are enough that make us sad .
  8. You sure are brave for 'testing the waters' with a newly-released watch, but it does have definite visual appeal. I don't know much about the gen, I can't even guesstimate the retail price... but it looks like a very "subtle but elegant" piece. It seems like a great alternative to the huge amount of Breitling CEs going around...,
  9. That was is moon-tastic!
  10. It was me who suggested it. Beautiful watch, very shiny. Absolutely perfect...
  11. Narikaa can probably source you one if you are very serious about it, he is leaving for China very soon - on the 21st - and if you hurry maybe you can strike a deal with him for one. He has great quality control standards and that is an absolute necessity for these types of items. Sadly, if it breaks, I don't know anybody who can fix it in North America... nobody will even come close...... nobody will want to...
  12. That first book makes me want a vintage Daytona even more.
  13. You know Victoria, I think it would be fun to make a thread displaying all of the blunders present on some watches photographed by the mega-dealers. You would think they would take pictures and display the absolute horological cream of the crop, but dozens of their showcases include images of clearly aesthetically and/or functionally defective watches. There is actually a $400 Breitling listed on one with the hour subdial hand slipping. Another one is of a Day-Date with rusted "rolex crown" emblem affixed to the face. I bought the watch regardless but, it arrived in perfect condition. I don't think it's the dealers like Joshua or Andrew who take these images, but I could be wrong. Something about the "close enough" factor just screams "china" all the way to me...
  14. MARRIED!?!?!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Now I'm going to howl.... AAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Comedy Gold!!
  15. That is an inside joke. A long one. This is my original signature from when I originally joined, but I "traded" it for a free VIP membership. The joke was, I had to trade it for a picture and description of admin's choosing... so guess what I got...! Now I;m back, flying the flag, and what not...
  16. I have a feeling this is done on purpose... but these are my favorites:
  17. They are quite fun to wear, and are eye-catching pieces. In fact, many of the tourbillons sold to us by mainstream dealers look very close to their gen counterparts in watches like Breguet and Blancpain.
  18. The following images were both taken today; Friday October 12th in the afternoon on a chilly day. 1. "Meditating Santos" Theme: "Woman" Comments: Buddhists believe that true wisdom can be attained only through profound meditation in an environment free of distractions and interruptions. With the help of a gentle breeze carefully navigating its way through a carpet of leaves, the timeless Cartier Santos 100 stands proudly atop the arm of an ancient Buddhist-inspired goddess sculpture. Perhaps once used for attaining inner-peace, the now forgotten monument silently watches over the creations of nature and awaits the coming of change. 2. "Suspended Jubil
  19. That is one sizzlin' timepiece!
  20. Same here. I remember the process too, it was an easier time back then. I was happy to get a watch, regardless of some debris on the dial and I didn't care that it wasn't perfectly 1:1 to the original. I wore the watch proudly, not thinking for an instant about the dangers of being "called out" or having the gold fade off. I didn't care what kind of movement was inside, or if it swept as smoothly as the original. I was truly happy. Then my collection grew. But, I began to notice a few changes. I was exploring more, and I was expecting more. I purchased a Panerai, and was thoroughly disappointed when it arrived with poor lume and dust under the crystal. Still, I wore it anyway, and didn't give it a second thought. Fast forward a year later, and I'm going bananas over the mis-placed "swiss made" on my Cartier Santos and I'm considering modding some of my other watches to bring them closer to authenticity. I'm also starting to choose models which are more realistic to wear, like those in the $4,000-$8,000 range as daily beaters. I still love my "extreme millionaire" watches but I prefer to wear my SMP chrono because it's just so "real". It's been a little over a year since that day-date arrived, and since then I have diversified my collection with suggestions and tips from this very community. I am proud of the watches I own, even though many are what you would label as "noob watches" (Gold Rolex, Submariner, President, Datejust). I have a few dream watches left, like a reliable Daytona or accurate Patek Philippe calendar... but all in all the journey has been one of education, and evolution.
  21. .... so how do I open the watch...?
  22. So shiny! Like a mirror!! This one must be a real eye catcher.... definitely great...
  23. Roughly $1,854,100.00 spread out over 9 watches. Assuming the Sky-Moon Tourbillon MSRP stands at $1,500,000.
  24. Baume & Mercier reps are rare, Joshua got a few chrono pieces just in yesterday you may want to check it out...
