  1. Didn't like the 7750 Base, don't like this - I'll take a nice Blancpain over that any day thanks!
  2. Oh my goodness that is terrifying. I feel so bad for you. You are not alone, my Day-Date broke the other day... nothing even remotely this bizarre or serious... but still renders it unwearable, so I can imagine how disappointed and frustrated you are. Devastating. Infuriating. and Unacceptable.
  3. That's a great high-definition shot! I actually tried this exact watch on at the AD a few days ago... it really wasn't in my taste as I found the strap to be very uncomfortable but this bracelet version looks very elegant, though I would probably prefer a Patek if I was in "Ashton's" financial "situation"
  4. Continuing the theme of dogs & watches started by UB7 (Adorable, by the way...) ; I decided to give the old 44mm Power Reserve a spin today. Tomorrow I have a big exam, and you know what they say about exams, give them a Rolex touch: For Friday I'm going to be going to some meetings and I feel like really blinging up a storm: I hope I didn't overload the wristcheck but I felt like being very thorough today :-)
  5. It works on my ends but I'm starting to realize why people hate it so much... I let customers now pay me through PayPal but it takes 4.9% interest rate and a fee to transfer the funds! It's bananas!
  6. No Rolex Day-Date? I would have assumed the Rolex President to be in the top five, if not even in the top two!
  7. Look at the engravings on the movement, how good is that! If that is supposed to be a rep, then it is 'super' indeed!
  8. This is an interesting question. My collection is what I call an "all inclusive family". It has watches representing various different style and tastes. From luxury, broken FG Day-Date with misaligned hands to $1,000,000 Sky Moon to an $300,000 tourbillon rep. But, there is also an SMP chronometer and TT Navitimer to even them out. There's even a pam thrown in for good measure.
  9. I must agree! But, I would still experiment with getting reps for very extravagant models. Obviously you have to draw the line somewhere...
  10. I hope they have a fun time... or whatever you're supposed to be doing on "communism day"...
  11. I still don't understand the "date" idea... all of my pictures are digital and have no date on them. I can use a program to inject them with a date, however. Do you mean the photos must be done with a conventional picture camera that is not digital? Because that is the only way I can see it making sense... Sorry about the confusion my friend!
  12. Where do we send them...?
  13. Huh? My dad is not oriental, and neither am I. He was there on business and bought it at a local market. Please do not try to stir controversy where none exists sir, because I said absolutely nothing that would qualify as even remotely offensive. I wrote "you read that right" because not that many of us, Westerners, have visited such a far-off country or even knew much about it during the 1970s. Thanks
  14. For some reason I cannot message The Zigmeister through the pm. I need The Zigmeister's assistance because my daydate hands fell out of place.
  15. Oh my dear friends... I am glad to hear it is an easy fix... but when you're in a "one horse town" and the most qualified watchsmith barely knows how to change a battery, you can't help but feel powerless. Thank you for your kind replies. It does not look too bad unless the time is either on the hour or on the half-hour, other then that it looks marginally acceptable.
  16. Hi Please forgive any errors in orthography I make in the following post... I am so furious right now that I am foaming at the mouth... here is the deal; I went to set the time on my FG President, my very first rep, ok, like normal right??? I wanted to set the time ONLY, because I am afraid to set the day/date complication. So I go to pull out the crown and I assume I pulled it out far enough for the time... so I think "OK let set the time" but because I was a little absent-minded today I started setting it counter-clockwise as if I was setting the date. I felt some resistance, said oops, and set the time correctly... or so I thought. WRONG. The hands somehow misaligned themselves so now the hours hand is ten minutes ahead of the minutes hand. So when you try to set 12:00 it is IMPOSSIBLE. The hands line up at around ten minutes past twelve, otherwise it is physically impossible to get both hands to line up at 12:00 as they should in any normal watch. What... the.... f--...? So now I am very upset because I will look like a stupid FOOL wearing this crappy chinese WATCH which has supposed reliable ETA movement but is actually CRAP MOVEMENT and I am done with reps that is it I will buy no more rep CRAP from now on I have had ENOUGH with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone experience something ridiculous like this before?????? WHAT???? Again I have to apologize if this post comes off as vulgar but please, understand, this watch has sentimental value and for what is a $228 USD Swiss ETA watch to last one year is UNACCEPTABLE I have a crappy orient that my father purchased in iraq (you read that right) and it still works after 30 years!!!!!! What the hell is this!?!?!?! I am very very SAD. Thank you for being patient and reading my rage-a-holic post.
  17. They look like very poor Daytona reps to me... canal street style; nothing of the high quality we are blessed with that's for sure!
  18. If only I lived in New York or London I could meet some of you people too! Alas I live only in Ottawa... and everybody knows the kind of watches people wear in Ottawa are the kinds that come in cereal boxes. I'm glad you had fun on your trip
  19. If you are in North America a store called "BOMBAY" furniture has beautiful wood-finish see-thru 6-piece boxes on sale right now....
  20. Personally there may be some buyer appeal for a watch that will never be truly rep-able. This, however, is a very vulgar watch... and I agree, the main design flaw is the gigantic text that reads "YACHT MASTER II." I have to say that if it was between one of these and a HBB (gens) I would choose this... just for the statement I mentioned above! I think Rolex may be onto something... "making watches so repulsive and needlessly complex that nobody will want to or be able to make counterfeit versions..."
  21. Hmmm..... I can't wait to see how much some of this stuff will cost... I predict $500 entry-level prices for some of these watches with some climbing even higher... yeppers
  22. If my wrist was allergic to stainless steel I think I would save up for a solid gold watch... gen or rep... now that's motivation!
  23. Who is Trevor?
  24. Above is my beautiful Two-Toned Navitimer on white face. This classic watch is the definitive pilot's choice timepiece and combines accuracy, style, and history into one formidable piece. Over fifty years old, the timeless design is instantly recognizable as one of the most sought-after watches in the industry. This one, with just the perfect amount of gold, has the "bling" factor covered without going into the extreme of diamonds or full gold. I highly recommend this beautiful and heavy watch if you're looking for 'style'.
