I think a few members have installed a gen tube/crown combo on the UPO. Shouldn't be a problem. My crown functions flawlessly and solidly after 8 months. I don't have any of those problems. It screws in and out like a dream... I think hand winding the watch might stress the threads... so I'd advice people not to do it. I never, ever hand wind any of my watches. That's just a wild guess though. Or perhaps mine came from a different batch?

While I like the new Zeniths a lot... I still think the classic El Primero Flyback series is still their best (design wise). Very conservative, yes, but the "Rainbow" Flyback does it for me. Doubt we'll ever see a rep though.
-
Lots of people are having big expectations about that watch. They'd better do it right this time... I think people generally are completely fed up with sub-par Rolex reps. Such simple watches to replicate... such medicore results.
-
I was lucky enough to receive that exact early version too (thanks again EL). The hell freezes over before I let that one go.

I've always said the Noobmariner is the best out-of-the-box Sub. And this comes from a guy who has owned them all... the whole rehaut issue is way exaggerated (imho). Noobys rule! (the default pearl sucks though)

Thanks man... appreciated. I don't use any kind of polarizing filter. I don't even have a Tripod... my camera is also rather cheapo Canon PowerShot. Contrary what many people believe camera doesn't mean s**t... it's all about lighting. It's important to get properly diffused lighting for the dial and bracelet. The lighting must be strong but "soft" at the same time. When you figure it out it gets easy. I have found correct lighting conditions and then I have professional Photoshop skills. I'm an editor in a magazine. That means I tweak pictures for a living. But when you get a good shot, there's not much you have to do... the most important thing is to have the "eye" for the small enhancements. I'm also very satisfied of that particular shot... but I think the Link shot is technically even better. The blue Link is the toughest watch ever to photograph... well toughest I've ever encountered anyway. Really difficult to bring up the details of the (extremely) reflective dial and bracelet finish at the same time... and avoid all noise (it has very reflective bezel as well). Thanks again. I always try to get better... your shots are very good quality too.

Hi Vic, Yeah sure, the new Aquatimer is a handsome watch. But it's pretty basic sports chronograph, and I don't like those rubber straps. I like colors, and the version that has yellow on the dial is my favorite. Wonder if they're going to rep that one... I certainly like IWC, and white GST has been on my wishlist for a long time. There are so many watches I'd like to buy, but I'm a "minimalistic" person... I don't want a big collection (for some reason). That's why I've been trading my reps all the time.
-
What new reps are you considering... and what are you considering to trade/sell? Personally, I'm extremely satisfied with my (very small, mind you) collection. I currently have: Omega SMP "Bond" ETA Omega SMP Chronograph 7750 Omega Speedy Broad Arrow Seagull Omega UPO ETA TAG Aquaracer Chronograph 7750 TAG Link Chronograph 7750 Breitling SFSO ETA I'm getting a quartz Ebel BTR from Narikaa. Excellent "budget rep". I'm also getting a GMT Master (old model). I've owned 15 Rolex reps... traded them all... but the GMT is the one that I always really wanted. It's the watch that kinda started this madness for me. And thanks to bklm I've finally found a version that fully satisfies me. I also might get the new and upcoming SeaDweller if it turns out to be awesome. If it's anything less I'll skip. The new "ceramic" GMT doesn't do anything for me. At least not yet. I really, really respect IWC... and the reps are great, but I doubt I'd wear one a lot. The Cousteau is very nice, but I think it's too expensive. If I ever buy a chronograph again, it'll be the Chronomat Evolution without a doubt. Awesome watch. I can't really think of selling any of my current reps. I think they're actually the "cream of the crop"... and I enjoy all of them a lot. I have the principle that I only keep watches that get regular wrist time... so I'm definitely keeping my collection in the +/-10 range. How about you?

Thanks to ***Usil*** we got new description & mini-review of the Bentley seconds at '3 version. Awesome picture as well. Thanks Usil!

I worked as a bouncer for 3 years during my student days (I still do occasional shifts), and I've been threatened with a gun twice. I wasn't alone in either of those situations though... and the other gun turned out to be a replica gun. I think people (all over) have way too many guns... it's not just the US. 99,9% of the gun owners are responsible people, but as usual it's the 0,1% that f'cks it up for everyone...

What an amazing thread... keep 'em coming!!!

Sometimes getting the crown to the 3rd position (hack & time set) requires a bit more force than you would think. Try pulling it a little bit harder... it's worth the shot. PS: Don't use pliers though.
-
Perhaps it's powered with Asian 21J automatic + faux chronos... and it doesn't have the hack signal? Can you post links to the Andrew's sales page of this watch? Thanks.

I wasn't excepting such an overwhelming response. Neither did CS, I'm sure. Not that anything would change much, but the support is still much appreciated. Lots of good forum friends in this thread... thanks everyone!

No. Clockwise. But there's absolutely no need to hand wind your watch regularly. Just wear it. If you have movement-related questions, post them here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showforum=76 Please read the "watch basics" threads in this section: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showforum=75 Then you can read the review of the movement you have in your watch: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=1414 These should get you started. Good luck.

Congrats man! Looks great! You have to screw the crown anti-clockwise as long as it gets "released". The first position is hand winding, the second position isn't used on this watch (date set). The third position is the hack signal and time setup. Read this Ziggy's article to get started: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=1404 PS: Moved this to the Rolex forum.

Congrats man... great purchase. And I agree 100%, really heavy and substantial piece. Pictures can't quite capture it. Your last photo shows nicely how it dwarfs the poor old Sub. I'm very big guy too... also have a '8 wrist. I think UPO is just a bit too massive and I actually preferred the 42mm. But then again this is a classic rep which belongs to every Omega fans collection.
-
Baltic already compared the rep to the gen. See his post HERE. This is linked in my Omega Guide. It's still a great idea to make another gen vs. rep comparison!
-
Started with the UPO today, but I actually wound up this one for the rest of the day (at least).
-
I assume you have the TT version with all stainless band? They have already released a rep of TT BCE with two-tone bracelet. Should be an easy exchange if you can source the rep bracelet.
-
Wooo....congrats for this legendary purchase! Reps are nice but gen is always gen.
-
Wow! Amazing gens Verbal & Section8.

Moved to Breitling area.

Seadweller4000 wrote an amazing review of the Explorer I. See it HERE. Happy hunting!

Wonder if the different blue shade is actually due to different AR coating reflection... or does the dial itself have different color?
