  1. Yours is probably trying to be a rep of the transitional model 16710. It's not terribly accurate. The GMT hand is too thick and short, the crown is oversized, the cg's are wrongly shaped, it has SELs... etc. etc. But hey... who cares? I love the GMT and for that price it's a nice watch. Enjoy! PS: Here's the gen:
  2. Yeah... I think I'll get the blue. God knows that I have enough black dial sports watches.
  3. Flaws or not... I want this rep. Now it's only a question about blue or black. Hmm....
  4. Hey, I don't think we have ever posted a picture thread of the most popular rep ever: The Submariner. I guess most members have owned at least one Sub at some point of their collector career so rarity of the model shouldn't be any kind of excuse to not to share a pic. Please also share a story of your Sub... the model (CN/TW/WM/MBW etc.) and where and when you got it. So c'mon guys, let's see 'em..!! I've owned so many Subs that I can't even count them anymore. Here are my 4 favorites:
  5. Nice pics and watches as usual Randy. I like the white Daytona wrist shot. Natural lighting is always great, it brings up the colors and warmth to the pictures.
  6. Coming up nicely Puggy. I guess you have read the article/Tudor review I wrote about the MBW cg shaping. If I can shape them... anyone can. Give it a shot!
  7. Basically, this is what rep collecting has been all along... accept certain flaws and QC issues... until the unrealistic exceptations ie. "analism" started.
  8. Wow...yet another Rush fan I see. Great!!! Here's a little welcome celebration song for you:
  9. My old GMT II with standard 2836-2 movement (with wrong hand stack) has been working flawlessly for 2 years soon. I'm actually wearing the watch just right now... it's not a real GMT watch, but I'd rather take the wrong stack and reliability over the highly modified bad movement. The watch is fairly good rep and I (personally) don't see the wrong hand stack such a huge issue as many others here. All pre-1990 GMT Rolexes used this hand order (GMT hand below the hour hand).
  10. (Crossposted to RWG) Another thing that has bothered me since the day one is the free Google availability (and very high search ranking) of both of these forums (RWG and RWI). It attracts idiots and lots of unwanted parties. I sound like a broken record but we should be more like an "underground" community. Some people still don't fully realize that this hobby is illegal. Perhaps removing ourselves from the Google would cut the customer base for the dealers... but in the long run it would affect positively I'm sure. I don't know how it can be done to prevent the site showing from Google, but I've heard it's possible. We can't really afford these sites becoming "mainstream" if you catch my drift... If we do, I'm sure all these problems are just the beginning. That's why I have mixed feelings about (very nice) public documentation of reps like Richard Brown's stuff. High Google ranking -> direct links to dealers at RWI, TRC and RWG -> bad for the community (imho). Of course I understand that these sites have originally been created to prevent people from getting scammed by places like Replicacenter (and high Google ranking helps them to find us), but at some point we (the dealers and regular members) have to start thinking more of ourselves. Yes, it's selfish and cynical but it's a selfish and cynical world. PS: Glad you're back Reg.
  11. Great acquisition my friend. Although the rep is so good it's obvious that most of these have some kind of QC issue. If the hour markers aren't misaligned then there's something weird, like the pearl on yours. I'd try heating the pearl with a hair dryer and pushing it inside from the other side. It's worth the shot... or then asking Andrew to send you another insert.
  12. Very bad news. Eddie is a legend and definitely one of the best.
  13. Gio used to own the genuine version of this watch. You probably read that. Reps are usually water resistant but there's never any guarantees. I wouldn't take it into water if I were you. If you want to read a review of the rep Seamaster Chrono, check my signature for a link. All in all... great first rep purchase. Enjoy your watch and welcome here!!!
  14. Hey, it's been a few weeks since I did this last time: The good old OFFICIAL RWG WEEKEND WRIST CHECK!!! For me (at least for today) it's the only Rolex I never seem to get tired of... my Pepsi GMT. Have a great weekend guys (once again!!!)
  15. Thanks for your thoughts Kruzer. Would like to hear other people's opinions about those possible issues too. It's feedback like this which helps us all.
  16. Hmm... it's almost impossible to tell anything from the picture but it's apparent that your rep is a POS and changing any parts to it is a waste of time (and especially money). If I were you I'd buy a decent Seamaster rep from our dealers and keep this watch for spare parts. Check my signature for some reviews of different Omega reps. For example WBK sells very nice Omega SMP reps with Asian movements for $100 (including the GMT I have). Good luck.
  17. Okay... updated the guide with very basic & rough Chronomat Evolution & Steelfish SuperOcean descriptions. Feel free to add your thoughts and opinions about these two new reps so we can keep this guide as good as possible (together). Thanks.
  18. Very good summary. I don't have many Rolexes on my "must have" list but the white ExpII is there. I also think the new replica version is visually excellent... and the only thing that prevents me from getting one are the movement issues you just described. Ziggy made a review of the movement & this modification and it appears to be problematic. My old GMT rep (with ETA 2836-2 and wrong hand stack) has been bullet proof for almost 2 years now. Perhaps they could maintain the correct hand stack in ExpII and just drop the extra modification? I'd buy one immediately.
  19. The 6' subdial "slipping" and moving when the chrono isn't activated is a common problem with the 7750. It usually resets after pushing the lower chrono button though. I had similar problem with my old Navi. Ziggy has explained it many times... try the search function.
  20. Yeah I know... werk on Fridey, warshen on Sardey, church on Sundey. If your not from the south, your from the nawth, etc. Hey, turn on the tayvay for the futbawl game!
