Great shot, monsieur Stephane! It's been a long time since I visited the Big Apple....

Full disclosure and accurate descriptions in sales ads.

It's even worse when the seller did his own mods and doesn't mention that in the advertising. I think in general an advertisement should include: - recent pictures, preferrably without 'artistic' Photoshop that prevents a clear look; - pictures and description of scratches and marks; - what was modded and by whom?; - any past repairs and/or malfunctions; - anything unusual for the particular rep should be mentioned (like a brushed case while the regular rep is polished) -

I've only had one purchase from this board (http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry388388) and this issue still remains unsolved (also due to the fact that I'm too stuborn to settle for anything less than I suggested to the seller). Not only did the seller 'forget' to mention that the dial was brown while it seemed black on the pics, but he also didn't mention or show that he brushed the case himself, which appeared to be done very sloppy between the lugs and near the CG. I bought the watch for EUR 165,- and had to buy a new case (EUR 70,-) and a new dial (EUR 20,-). For this money I could have bought a new one... I'm afraid that this experience makes me a bit reluctant to buy used reps again........ -
That's some piece of machinery on your arm, LOL. Not completely my cup of tea, but nevertheless very, very impressive!! Wear it well!

If memory serves around $120,-.

This is about my holy grail.... I've been looking for the 'perfect' strap for my 111e for some time now. I've already tried a few, but ended up with these 3 in my shortlist. Since I've never had the opportunity to see all in one comparison pic, I've asked Vic for help. I love all 3, but for my wardrobe the Fiero seems the most versatile/neutral and perhaps the most common one. By the way, the strap with the cross stitching in your signature looks awesome! Would you mind posting some pics? Do you still make these?
-
At first I didn't notice the background....... You really did your homework, LOL
-
Wow, Vic!!!!!!!! And the winner is................. the Fiero , although it was a close match with the Senape. I really love the texture of the Senape, but the Fiero seems somehow more versatile to me. That last wristshot really convinced me. Thnx for the very helpful comparison!!

This is a strap from HKTan. He makes excellent straps, but you have to be very patient. I'm already waiting for 4 months now........
-
With this comparison it's very easy to see that the gen and the rep on the right have the 2 subdials positioned just above the 9 and 3 marks while the one on the left have it exactly alligned with the 9 and 3. The one on the left has also a wider subdial spacing than the other 2. But for E 37,-..... I wouldn't care less.

Thnx for posting!

I wouldn't buy neither of these. I don't know what it is and I'm certainly not a Rolex expert, but these 2 scream fake to me. Maybe it's the subdial spacing, the rehaut, the width of the bezel... Have you check these already? I think these are both A7750 with secs@9. So after servicing/oiling you'll be fine. Also the subdial spacing looks pretty accurate. hxxp://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b14/puretime/WATCHES/ROLEX/DAYTONA/ref-6265/ hxxp://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b14/puretime/WATCHES/ROLEX/DAYTONA/ref-6263%20asian%207750/

@freddy: Maybe this is the time to entice Vic by posting some nice pics of your vintage Daytonas......
-
I seem to have missed this thread completely until now. Sorry to hear this, Cats. This is so f%cked up..... Nothing I can say than wishing you and your family all the best. Take care and I expect you to be healty at the next EU GTG!

I think I'm falling in love too . But like you Daytonas have really started growing on me lately. Although I prefer the modern white version with champagne subdials, the seconds @6 issue scares me away. But seeing Freddy's awesome vintage collection, the 6263/6265 could be a good alternative. (left pic = gen 6265)

How do you select the watches to buy....?
scoobs1971 replied to capice's topic in General Discussion
I only buy watches that fit my dressing style and life style. I don't like my watches to collect dust in the watchbox. Also, I try to avoid to buy reps of gens that I possibly wouldn't be able to afford without winning the lottery... .. I guess the Yachtmaster and PAM0250 were the exceptions to the rule.... . After I have fallen for a gen that I've seen at an AD or on internet, I'll be searching for the rep - provided it exists. Then I do some gen/rep comparison and board research to see how accurate it is. Some flaws I will accept, others are deal breakers. Then I pull the trigger and the waiting and excitement starts.. -
Since I got this watch I haven't been completely sure about the dial colour, so I've ordered a separate dial from Angus. Guess what? Different dial colour. The new dials are more silverish and sparkling. So I guess I was right after all. In the pic the new and correct dial is already in the watch and the old dial is sitting next to it. Note that the new dial looks slightly reddish on the pic due to the lighting. I would suggest to ask Angus for the updated dial when ordering the YM from him.

Don't know about the 22mm... I also had a 22mm Pilot strap of which I needed to shave off 1 mm to make it fit. Not too happy with the result, tough.
-
I ordered this HKTan strap last October and it's still not in. You'd better be very patient if you order with Aaron... The TWB crocs are very decent fro the price and give it a dressy look. From what I understand TWB is also selling pilot straps somewehere this month.
