Does someone have a pic to show how to fasten or slow a 'Unitas' 6497? Sounds like a basic question, but couldn't find anything useful with the search button
-
Hmm, I know the feeling.... You never exactly know what you gonna get when you order a strap from a pic. I have 2 straps comming up from the Watchboys and Don, but I have to admit I'm a bit scared, since they're a bit pricey and I hope the color and texture will meet my expectations from the pic.... Have you already checked straps from BOB? They offer very nice quality for an affordable price. For the 111 I can reccomand the honey gator strap hxxp://www.waccex.de/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=470 and the tobaco brown gator strap hxxp://www.waccex.de/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=145_147_176&products_id=468. You can compare these straps with your basic white or black T-shirt

As an introduction, this is my rep Panerai collection
scoobs1971 replied to jumpy's topic in The Panerai Area
Welcome aboard! Now that you have a couple of PAPs with only black straps, the time has gone to buy yourself some nice straps. Search for topics of ms Vbarrett and you'll find all you ever want to know about straps. -
Uhm Vic, just curious: do you already own more straps than shoes? edit: oh boy, I've already found the answer in another thread 'I'm nearing 130 straps now' hahahaha

It's two sides of the coin for me. I love the process of seeing a rep grow on me, ordering, waiting, waiting, the arrival, the instant hapiness, the disappointment, the look for mods, waiting again etc... It's sort of addictive, haha. Also affordable reps give a versatility to my collection that wouldn't be possible with gens - at least not to my budget . But I also own some mid level gens to wear when I'm meeting clients. Don't want them to think I can buy myself a PAM from their money.... Then again, having a few rep PAMs makes me want to have the real thing some day.... Just because I love the brand that much .

Vaccuum, this watch looks awesome! What method did you use to get the font off white? Of all the flaws, the too white font bugs me the most.
-
Are you sure that that was the new model? As far as I know only the old 39mm was replicated. The dial has also slightly changed and looks nicer in my opinion.

If you're into sporty watches this is one hell of a collection. Thnx for sharing!

Thnx, for an ad I found it very much entertaining. Now I badly want this Spitfire model to be repped

When your favorite watch gets bumped down to 2nd Place...
scoobs1971 replied to TeeJay's topic in General Discussion
Teejay, Good to hear that you've finally been infected with PAMophelia The fun part is that I tend to wear my PAM when I'm dressed casual smart and that I wear my sporty watches when I'm wearing jeans. You're doing the exact opposite, hahaha. And to answer your question, remember my SMP that I modded with gen dial, hands and new movement? I was so happy with this watch when it was finished. But I hardly ever had it on my wrist since I started wearing PAMs and it has been sold a few days ago........... So welcome to the PAM addict support group! -
Vic, I don't think I like this, hahaha. From all of your PAM wristhots I like the 111 on Sanape-strap and the 113 best

Wow, nice watch! Thnx for sharing

I don't know. Maybe you can ask The Zigmeister what his experience is with customs for a package comming from China. If you think it's too risky than you'd better check the local watch smith..
-
Be prepared that not every watch smith is willing to work on reps. You can also check The Zigmeister (Canada). He's very experienced in servicing A7750's.
-
Unfortunately there is no simple yes or no on any rep movement which has not been serviced. However, there are some movements that are a proven 'no': 7750 with modded seconds at 6, slow beat Asian 7750 and some unidentifiable chinese movements. Most reps with Swiss 2824/7750/'Unitas' movements will perform pretty well out of the box without initial servicing and from what I read from other members most Chinese 21j movements are not so bad either. Some 28.8 Asian 7750 will do fine the first couple of months/years if you're lucky. So this is typically a movement you want to service directly after purchase if the watch is going to be a keeper. Or you can try your luck and have it repaired/serviced the moment problems arise...... Good luck! P.S. Personally, I wouldn't bother too much and buy the PO Chrono and have it serviced with a rep friendly local watch smith (no AD).
-
If you mean 12PM (afternoon) you will be fine, if you mean 12 AM (night) you can damage a 7750 chrono.
-
Keeping 'perfect time' also has to do with regulating the watch. See Mahler's post in: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...=0&#entry12 to do it yourself. I expect ETA movements to be better regulated 'out of the box' than Chinese movements like the A7750. Have you already serviced your watch? I bet the erratic behaviour of the subdial will disappear instantly after servicing. @ macsac: to enjoy your watch for a long time it's always a good idea to have it serviced with people like The Zigmeister directly after your purchase. Unless it's a very cheap watch you don't intend to keep for a longer time. I would also advice not to use the chrono function unless the movement is serviced. However, this is how it works: The 2 o'clock pusher starts the chrono. The second time you push it will 'pause' the chrono. A third time pushing the same button lets it run again. To reset to zero first pause the chrono with the 2 o'clock pusher, then reset with the 4 o'clock pusher. Never try to reset without first pausing the chrono with the 2 o'clock pusher. Very important: on a chronograph (either rep or gen) never ever try to quick set the date between 7 PM and 2 AM. This will damage your watch. I know from experience...

Only the old A7750 is proven to be very unreliable due to the bad construction of some parts. The highbeat A7750 seems to be a better design according to The Zigmeister, but most need oiling to stay reliable for a longer time. I've had about 6 watches with the 28.8k A7750 and only one had problems in the chrono part of the movement, which I think can be corrected after a service. 2 common 'problems' with this movement: the time setting is not really accurate because the hands are a bit slippy. But once set it keeps perfect time. Secondly, sometimes the rotor makes more noise than normally on a 7750 - both ETA or Asian. There's a trick to solve this with a tiny bit of grease on the rotor screw. Good luck and welcome to this board!

@Vic: sorry to hear, but is there maybe a slight chance that you've scratched the AR coating and not the glass itself? It's a theory, though, but you never know. Any experts on this?? By the way, I don't see anything on the pic...

Oh man, this is such an awesome watch!!! Too bad it's so hard to find..
