Well the title says it all. Thx in advance. Oh, and I have small wrists. 44mm is the absolute maximum. I would prefer it smaller. -Alex

Yes, the endlinks are fixed to the case on strapped Daytonas. And 75/65 is the standard size or a Daytona strap. The prices for genuine straps like this usuallyrange from 250-300 €, sometimes even more. It is definitely an after market price. But this is a very active german dealer. I just cant believe that he taking the risk of selling counterfeits.

Hi, what parts do I need and what work will I have to do to replace the rep crown with a gen one. Do I have to drill for a new tube or are there parts that will fit stock? The rep crown is huge and ugly. -Alex

Can someone enlighten me if this is available already. This was first offered by some sites in January. I am confused as PT now states that it will be available some time late in May. I do not want to lay my money on the table and then be on the mercy of the factory to finally finish it on day. Thx. -Alex

Original vs Replica? What is the difference really?
gasebah replied to themeditator's topic in General Discussion
I am missing one important aspect in the discussion. Of course if you pay for a gen you do not only pay for the production of the watch itself. You buy into much more. You buy into the marketing, the design, the invention of the movement, the whole building up of he brand. This is actually work and intellectual property that has inflicted a lot cost in the past and is still today you have to pay as well. It also feeds a lot of people in the western world. The rep makers have to steal all this in order to even do business in the first place. There has to be a Rolex or Audemars first before you can copy it. Keeping that out of the equation and than make a rep to gen comparision is pretty unfair to the rep makers. They are hard working people as well and not some Gurus living off the confusion of some misguided disciples. I find it pretty hypocrit to buy reps and at the same time pretend that one is not attracted by the prestige and live style message of the gen brands. After all one could buy orginal chinese brands. There are some out there you know. Of course I am not the right person to preach moral here as I have my share of reps myself. But at least we should be aware of that and be fair enough to accept reality. -Alex Edited for typos only.... -
Can someone point me to Anrika's website if he has one? I can't find him under the links. -Alex

I had the last A7750 I received (Daytona secs@6) opened by my watchmaker before I even wound it up. He was removing all kinds of metal pieces and chips that definitely did not belong there. During the process he was all cusring and mumbling like "They build that on some dirty junk." Quite amusing I must say. :-) So I turned it in for a complete cleaning job. That is definitely more expensive here as it would be in Asia to get it right the first time. And I cannot see why assembly under clean conditions would be much more expensive then doing it on a dirty desk. Just my 2 cents.

Just to bring this to a correct finish: More than 13 weeks after my initial order I finally got my watch. However the Bulgarian obviously had decided to keep a rubber B strap for himself that was also part of the delivery. Joshua agreed to replace the strap and send it via airmail. The whole thing was one of the worst business transactions in my life but I also have to admit that I finally received all the goods as promised. -Alex

Hi, I am quite sure I read a thread here once that had an explanation complete with pictures on how to make the running secs@6 Daytona more reliable by freezing the hour totalizer and by doing this get rid of a big part of these 13 gears. I have searched for half an hour now and cannot find it. Can someone please point me to it? Thx. -Alex

Sorry I could not cope with this thread earlier. This morning I received from Joshua a tracking no. from the bulgaria post. The package was sent out on the 28th, not on the 11th and not on the 22nd as I was already promised but it seems like this will finally come to a positive conclusion after 10 weeks. However with the experience I have made I will not believe anything until I finally will hold the package in my hands. Also this will not alter my decision to not buy from Joshua anymore. Sorry I am very busy currrently as I am leaving for Japan in two days so I cannot directly address all the questions and remarks made in this thread by you fine people, but I want to thank everybody (well almost) for their support and interest in my case. -Alex

Hi Gran, I am not telling real names here. The bulgarian is allegedly a long time customer of Joshua's. I am not aware that RWG members cannot resort to a PP conflict. If that is true be my guest and ban me. I pay with PP for this very reason that I have at least a little leverage. I remember to have read somewhere that it does "not always lead to the desired result". All in all including shipping we are talking approx. 400 US$. As Shakira says: " I won't break down cuz life's already bit me." This is not only about the money. I was patient and I was friendly through the whole process. I assured to Joshua that we will do business in the future. He could have sent another watch and rely on me to send it back once I received both. I also offered to credit the amount against a new order. And still I am hung out in the dry. So eventually I have to let off some steam. But I am still open to resolve this in a civilized manner. -Alex

So far I made all my purchases through Joshua and was quite satisfied although already in the past the shipment through UK was bugging me wih long turnaround times as the watches seem to stay way too long in the UK until they are finally shipped from there. But well, I could cope with that. I have to rely on this way of shipping as anything else is snatched by customs where I live. Business transactions that work according to plan are usually no problem for either party. Real customer support can be measured if something goes wrong. In my last transaction almost anything went wrong. I was sent QC pics for a wrong watch. Corrected, than got pics of the watch I actually ordered fine. After a week the watch arrived in UK. I waited one week, Two weeks. Nothing. I wrote a mail...don't worry it is underway. A week later the next mail...don't worry it will come. A more direct mail...oh, we found out your watch was sent to the wrong customer, a customer in Bulgaria. He will send it to you. A week....nothing. Allegedly the watch was returned to sender for a wrong adress. Nonsense. The guy in Bulgaria will send out the watch again. I agreed with Joshua that if the watch will not arrive in 2 weeks we will find another solution. Of course the watch did not arrive. The guy in Bulgaria had already proven that he is not reliable. I now asked for a refund but Joshua insisted I should wait for the watch to arrive. I did not accept this and insisted on a refund. Since then Joshua has gone dead. I am now at the mercy of some character in Bulgaria who has no motivation to send the watch. Why should he. I had no choice but open a paypal conflict. I hate this, but after more than 8 weeks I have no hope that I will ever see the watch. I am not a whiner and I know this business for two deacades. I know that this is not best buy, but it escapes me why I would treat a customer who has made three straight orders in two month and had the next order waiting in line this way. After all Joshua can be trusted if everything goes according to plan. If something don't he is just another scam. Today I have placed my first order with pure time. -Alex

Watch (noun, not verb) Porn... Sarpaneva K3 and K2
gasebah replied to gran's topic in General Discussion
Holy moly. What is this. Where to get? Do I have to sell my car? -Alex -
Hi, over the last decade watches have grown and grown in diameter. For me, having a very slim wrist for a man it partially ruins the watch hobby as there is only a very small fraction of watches I can even consider. I have to stop at 40mm in size. Anything else just looks ridiculous on my wrist (and on the wrists of some others who don't seem to notice). Today I have seen the Hamilton Khaki Base jump which has a diameter of 50mm. What's next? Pedulum clocks with a leather strap? -Alex
-
This is a good example of what I meant. I won't even start to talk about subtle things, but the whole geometry of the watch is completely messed up with this rep. -Alex
-
Since I know about the existence of reps I was looking for this watch. I once found a rep in Taiwan which was ridiculous. while the big date worked there the PR was just a hand glued to the dial and the running sec was totally misplaced. What is so damned complicated to rep this? Now that the Chinese have mastered fyling tourbillons and all that stuff. I would put down 1000.- US for a good rep and never look back. -Alex

Hi guys, I am waiting for my SS Daytona with racing dial and leather strap. Already now I know that the strap will be too long for my wrist. Any of you know a good source preferably inside the EU which sells shorter straps? Preferably real croc at a reasonable price. At least it shouldn't be more than half of what the watch did cost me, which I will get from Joshua. -Alex
