Great story.

Well done. Did you do it yourself? Did you really need a new crown guard?
-
Where do you think the problem on the 187 originated from? Pushers, crown, caseback, or crystal? I'm guessing pusher or crown.
-
-
They will work on "hommage" watches aka reps. Their price is a bit higher than The Zigmeister on a relume. I had a PO that they did a waterproof check on. Good service.
-
It's in great shap. Obviously needs a pin fix, lume, and crown. What about the crown guard? Is there something better out there. It's an L SWISS L dial and has an in accurate caseback.
-
It might become your most expensive rep by the time you're done with mods. AR crystal-$75, Crown-$70, crown guard (if you can find one)-$50, Lume-$75. You do all that, and you still have an automatic 005, which doesn't even exist. I'm in the same boat, but have an older swiss version. Has the wrong caseback (from the 5218 201a). I might give Davidsen a buzz and see if he has everything I need and then send it to The Zigmeister for a lume job.

I had one on my wrist a month ago. The crystal is almost invisible from all angles. Beautiful. I think you paid too much though. They are hard to find, but you paid more than retail for a used watch. I've seen them on timezone for about a grand. There is one right now for $1000. I actually like it much better on the rubber strap than the bracelet. Best rubber strap and buckle out there. Enjoy it.

Bell & Ross 46 mm but only with a rubber band and 2892 movement. Leather on a tool watch like that?????? Yuk. Pam 194 -
Anyone have one of these in the works? I'm clueless about mods, but think it would go over well give the number of purchases that have been made recently. The font in the gen is pretty unusual. thanks

New 6th Gen Po Review And Gen Comparison Shots!
Estaban replied to flavor flav's topic in Rep vs. Genuine
Great review. I owned a 45mm eta PO for about one week. Fit and finish was good. AR was good. Dial was good. The gap in the bracelet was not tollerable. Parted with it quickly. I also couldn't deal with the look of a 45mm watch on a 20mm bracelet. Looks horrible. Now it's fixed. This will be my next purchase after the glow of my new Ingenieur and my mods on my 005 come to fruition. By that time the Omega logo will be fixed and won't look like someone melted it with a torch. -

Did I mention I can't stop looking at this watch??? One last comment--The watch has no lume. I think The Zigmeister will be getting a package. Now would someone start working on the date wheel Thanks for the comments about my watch. Hope eveyone achieves satisfaction on their purchase. I'm sure EL and Jay will make everything right. -

If anyone needs an extra link, I will send it out free of charge. Did I mention that this watch DOES have AR coating. Not heavy, but noticeable. I can't wait to walk into Tourneau or another jeweler in Chicago on Sunday. I'll be treated like a king. No one could tell that this watch is a rep unless they had a gen side by side to compare the date font. Incredible. -

Here's a pic of my new Ingy Thingy. I think it has a great wrist presence. Much better than either the 45mm or 42.5mm PO. Those long lugs paired with a 22mm lug width make it look silly. This thing is incredible. Date font fix and it' is PERFECT. What do you guys think. Garden and sunshine (thanks EL) pics will come tomorrow. -

Devedander, You've been around these parts for around two weeks. I'm guessing this is your first purchase. I you want perfection, get a genuine watch (it still won't be perfect). I made many of the same mistake that you've made with being overly critical of purchases. Sometimes it was just buyer's remorse setting in, and sometimes it me expecting something for nothing (or perfection for little $$$). I'm not trying to be critical, but this is part of the hobby. If there are serious things wrong with a watch, the dealers take care of it. If it's something small, they often take care of it too. Sometimes patience is required. I have sent watches back and waited a month or so for a replacement. Other times I've passed on watches that just aren't my cup of tea to someone else who might appreciate it. It never cost me much money to do any of these things. Just a little bit of time. You live and learn in this game. -

No need for links Richard/David. Watch fits fine. I actually have to take out one link. Can someone help me with this process. I have the tools, now what do I do with them -

I just opened a little package from EMS. YES, it's my Ingenieur. My watch is PERFECT in every way. Perfectly centered bezel, Crisp dial, not marks. I'm am blown away. The watch even has a nice AR coating. I'm convinced that there is not a better rep out there with or without mods. Maybe a datewheel font fix, but that's it. This thing is 1:1, great weight, beautiful fit and finish. I'm in heaven. Pics to follow. BTW, my wrists must have shrunk or the watch is bigger than 7.5 inches. I have to take out a link. Thanks to everyone who said they would pass on an extra link. I don't need any. -

David, I think you are the first. Looks great. I hope I'm happy with a watch smaller than my 44mm Pams. I'm expecting mine at work tomorrow. Don't forget those links -
That is what I figured. I guess I got a very good deal on this watch since it is indeed swiss.
-
Looks like the movement found in the Pam 036. I know it's Unitas, but was curious if anyone had a clue whether it is swiss or Asian. The movement is in my new 005 I got from a board member. He wasn't sure if it was asian or swiss as he got it from someone else, not a dealer. The price was right, so it's no big deal if it is indeed Asian.

Make sure to order straps with the correct lug width. The 187 has 26mm lug width, not 24mm found on most Panerai watches.

My package arrived in Chicago at 2:00 pm yesterday. Should have it in a day or two assuming no customs issues. Thanks to those who committed a link or two to my cause (David and RT). Damn brontosaurus wrists.
