Same prices in the states. Hktan said he could make me one for around $100. Would still need a buckle. I love the bracelet anyways. When it breaks I'll get the strap and buckle.

Lello, Here are some BIG pictures. http://www.chronometrie.com/sihh2005/iwc/I...tic_AMGfull.jpg http://www.chronometrie.com/sihh2005/iwc/I...tomaticfull.jpg
  3. Doesn't the 50 Fathoms look a bit too much like a Rolex Sub?? I've seen many nice gen watches that have the sub look and pass on them because they "look like a nice watch trying to copy a Rolex Sub". Marathon, Steinhart, Marcello come to mind. Doesn't the Blancpain look a bit like these??? Seahawk or FM King Conquistador would be my choices. Very different, but yet to be repped.
  4. Maybe I was a little hard on dress watches. I guess I've just found that I like to wear my watches and dress watches don't really stand up like a good sport or dive watch. The only dress watch I've worn that has ever done anything for me is this one. The Jaeger Le Coultre Master Grand Réveil. I tried on the pink gold version while travelling in Venice. Beautiful! Not too thin either. I agree that reps of $1000-$2000 watches are pointless. I don't think I'd ever buy an Oris or Sinn rep. I even have trouble buying into Omega reps. The real thing is not out of reach for most rep collectors.
  5. Very nice looking watch. I'm not too familar with the Ronda Quartz mov't. $228 for a quartz watch sounds like a lot. Maybe The Zigmeister or someone else can enlighten us on the merits of this movement.
  6. ZZZZZZZZ. They last thing we need is another dressy watch. Have you ever noticed how many of these end up for sale because they get no wrist time?? Pateks, Glashuette, A Langes, Jaegers, etc----They are nice, but kind of boring. Besides, I don't know too many people who can pull off wearing $15,000 watches.
  7. Why another IWC??? We've already got a 1:1 nearly perfect Ingenieur. The Aquatimer et al are too similar to the Ingenieur. We have the GST, and for the dainty lawyer types the FA Jones and the Portuguese. Diver all the way (Seahawk or Kobold)
  8. Here is a side by side with a Sub. That is one big watch. pam_vs._B_R.bmp
  9. I've been asking for this for months. I emailed our dealers and they said no go. Maybe they feel there is too little demand to go through changes. I really like this watch.
  10. Another good call!
  11. Seahawk, Frank Muller Conquistador King, AP Royal Oak Offshore (both rubber clad and metal clad)
  12. Arktos on a Woj
  13. Neil for sure. I'd also like to meet some of our Aussie folk. They seem like good guys and I've always wanted to go to Australia.
  14. My first nice watch was a gold Seiko moonphase with a Hirsh reptile strap that I got for my bar mitzvah back in 1979. I still have it somewhere. Got an Omega SMP from my first wife. Have a gen Piaget Polo in solid 14k that is sitting in a safety deposit box. Would never wear it. Came from my dad who decided it was too gaudy (he's right). As for reps, I'm a Pam guy. I knew about Panerai watches for quite some time. Saw my first in about 2000. Knew I wanted one, and then I came across this place. Good thing. I saved a lot of money by getting rep Pams instead of gen.
  15. The Vertigo line is great, but so is Don's historic line. I'm wearing my Don historic right now. Here's a pic.
  16. You read my mind about the Ingenieur date wheel. It's an odd font, but I'm sure it can be done.
  17. Ingy for sure. I've owned late generation POs (both 42.5 and 45mm). Didn't like either of them. Bracelet gap is problematic. 22mm lug width on a 45mm watch looks terrible, especially with long lugs. Too many tiny faults. The Ingy is perfect except for the date font, which is passable. Would love someone to make a datewheel for this one. Amazing bracelet and fit/finish.

I just read the headline--It's a gen strap and buckle. Too rich for my blood. $200 for the strap and $65 for the buckle. I'll see if Aaron Tan can make one.
  19. IWC Ingenieur or Omega SMP Chrono.
  20. I can't answer your question, but I can tell you David that an EXP II will get very little wrist time given your affinity for Pams. It's only 40mm and fairly thin at that. I've tried on a gen and compared it with my old SMP gen and it looks so small. JMHO.
  21. That's too bad that you guys didn't source a rubber strap for this one. I don't think an aftermarket rubber will do justice to this watch and I'm sure the gen strap with buckle is pricey. Looking forward to this offering.
  22. I agree. Bring on the SS 46mm version with a rubber strap. Leather on a tool watch?? Yuk!
  23. Here is a PVD watch that isn't even black or grey. http://www.koboldwatch.com/store/product_i...bl6sm66s4218tu1
  24. Au contraire. The special edition PVD only comes in the 39mm. The 46mm will be stainless steel.
  25. Kostas, Do a little research before being so sure of yourself. PVD is a process, not a coating. The finish varies by what is being coated. Here are some variations of PVD coatings on watches:
