  1. I buy a lot of my Gen watches grey market (Authentic Watches, Jomashop) depending on the discount available. Or I stick to an AD when I can. with the Breitling I would see what you can get grey market and then use that price as leverage at the AD. For the most part grey market dealers offer supplemental warranty rather than the manufacturers warranty that you won't be getting, which you shouldn't need anyway. Check out Jomashop.com and authenticwatches.com, both US based and get some prices to take back to the dealers and if they can't match the prices just order it online.
  2. Really cool stuff, looks great! The display case back is a great idea for the Rolex movement which looks fantastic and is only ever seen by watchmakers, the owners don't get the opportunity to admire that work of art, unless they're wearing one of these fantasy models.
  3. Wish I could have convinced Josh to send me a new clasp after my PO ceramic clasp failed, as in it looks great but doesn't work at all. He did offer me a new bracelet for $80 though
  4. It almost looks like it comes off at the link, does the new clasp include that center link piece? Here is a clasp for sale on the bay and that last center link piece is attached at the point that you are trying to separate it.
  5. That is one of the most beautiful looking cities I have ever seen from the sky.
  6. Love that rose gold AJ. Personally I can't take my steel Big Pilot off, just love this watch.
  7. I am really into Hodinkee's video's they have great production value and always have a very interesting subject matter. Rather than some fluff piece by a manufacturer or boring review from someone holding the watch up and reading the manufacturers booklet to you. The find real people with a real passion for watches and it makes for some great watching.
  8. The sum of the parts, for me to make one myself (without the customizing), would be about $400 Movement : $200+ Case : $130+ on sale Dial : $20 Strap : $20 cheap, up to $100 done right, I think the strap is very important, I'm sure I'm not alone. Then factor in the service that gets done on the movement <$100 The watches should probably sell fro around $700 unless he is running a watch building charity , so overpriced, I think slightly at $1000. But considering the number of Quartz watches that can fetch up to $1000 with a $35 movement and a mineral crystal from a large scale watch company i think his pricing is still fair.
  9. If I'm being completely honest AJ, I prefer your creation. That thing is beautiful and the dial is stunning. Where do you get a dial for something like that?
  10. The dial on the Sterling is apparently 925 Sterling Silver, I thought that was a pretty nice touch. I would personally make a couple of changes if it was me designing the dials but that's a very fair price for a nice looking watch. I'm thinking Panerai style strap swapping to create a personalized watch. I think I'll be contacting him, might be possible to take a drive down and check out the shop in person, maybe place an order.
  11. Hey guys, I just thought I would share this. I stumbled across a local watchmaker right in my backyard, making hand assembled watches in Canada. The movements are mostly ETA handwind 6498 that are disassembled and reassembled by the solo employee of Archer Watches in what I can only guess is a spare bedroom in his home. The cases come from Germany and the Crystals are Sapphire with double AR coating. Most of his models seem to go for around $1000CAD and are quite simple. Check it out, you might see something you like. http://www.archerwatches.ca/index.html
  12. Deckard, that Blackbay... I just love that watch. Here's one on my wrist. Of course, on my wrist today, The Big Pilot
  13. Wish I had one of these while watching The Walking Dead. A little down time during the zombie apocalypse and strap making would make for a good pass time. Abundant material supplies as well
  14. Looks great already AJ, can't wait to see the finished product. The Gen crystal looks like it has a blue tint to it, I thought these had clear AR, looks incredible.
  15. Looks like a great time was had by all... both. I can only imagine how [censored] any of my friends would be if I ever showed up with a watch box for a night out. Still looks like my idea of a good time
  16. I just cannot stop strapping this thing to my wrist. This thing is so manly it could replace gender reassignment surgery
  17. More Thanksgiving dinner to be eaten today and this beast will accompany me through it all
  18. I have yet to see a Monaco worth buying, and that is a watch that I would love to own. They are very pricey and all seem to have flaws that have kept me away. Specifically I have never seen one with that flaw (Saphir Crytal) but the Monaco 24 concepts all say CENIFUGAL instead of Centrifugal. If I were going to get one I would get the Monaco LS, it has a solid case back so you can't see that it uses the wrong movement. not sure if there is a better Monaco rep out there.
