what difference are you referring to?
-
the wire mech. is exclusive, as far as I know, to the cn model subs. mbw which appear to use a type of tw case have a different mech. like the one you described. My tw sub does the same thing. I think mine was caused from removing the bezel a few times...they're a [censored] to get back on and perhaps something got tweeked. It's annoying but I'm learning to live with it. I can at times shrink the appearance of the thick crystal which bugs me...as far as a solution...not quite sure yet...rbj may know...

16600

no, no, no, I'm just saying that if, referring to our reps of course, we have an extremely accurate rep bracelet for $35 and a gen bracelet for $650, most of us would probably choose the rep bracelet. I'm not saying there are members of our rep world that wouldn't spend $650 on a bracelet but I sure wouldn't...I'd proably buy a couple reps and still have enough left over for a decent rep bracelet. IMO, it's just not that much of a 'make or break' part for a sub rep...not with the great rep bracelets we have out there now...That being said, we're only conversing my friend...no ill will on my side
-
I'm sure $650 is the going rate for gen ss oyster bracelets...but that's assuming the seller/product is reputable and can be verified...but at that price from that seller, it's just not for me ...I'd rather buy the $35 version from Josh, and know what I'm getting, that's all.
-
I just got a quote of $650 for one of his ss oyster sub bracelets... I think I'll stick to our dealers.
-
Some time ago he quoted me about $250 for a Used gen sub dial...he said a new one would be much more...I came across a good dial for much less so I jumped on it. His stuff is gen but as said above, definitely not a thrift store.
-
That sub dial pictured looks exactly like my gen dial though.
-
I've emailed this guy back and forth trying to source a dial and his English/grammer was so bad, I couldn't tell if he was legit or not. I kept saying he'd check on stuff for me and then I'd never hear from him...kind of sketchy unless you're up in the area. I'm from the bay area and was actually up there on Sunday but am back down in SoCal now.

Awesome pictures. I just pulled the trigger on that offer from Joshua so my 112h should be arriving sometime this week. Thanks for all the suggestions and pics

Yeah that's a lot of dough...my gen transitional dial put me back $100. With regards to those changes and serial #'s, do you have any dates for those.
-
Not sure about the rehaut but the first 16800s with the matte dials seem closer to the 1680s...however the 16800 with the transitional dial with the gloss finish and white gold hour markers was morphing into the 16610. I built my 16800 after the latter. I've got a tw case, gen transitional dial with nice cream patina hour markers , gen tube & crown, hands lumed to match cream patina on dial, and gen insert that I've yet to install. I've still got to get the bracelet right as the one I currently have has solid mid links and solid end links. But that will come...I'm just enjoying it right now Quite a few things were changing in the mid to late 90's for these watches that it's hard to keep up. I'm sure Ubi could break it all down but I'm not sure of them all. The dials changed from tritium to luminova, end links changed from hollow to solid, lug holes to no lug holes (may be later than 90's), open 6 & 9 to closed 6 & 9...did I miss anything lol. Ubi and I were talking about my franken 16800 and how it would be pretty hard to distinguish it from the early 16610. Apparently the matte dials are more rare and are coveted by collectors...which makes them dame near impossible to get. I believe the transitional dials are easier to get your hands on. Here are a few pics of my partially completed 16800 with the gen insert that needs to be installed.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this thread so if not, mods please move I've owned several pam reps over the last 15 months and have concluded that the Panerai base models are most appealing to me. Well balanced, simplistic, modest, understated But I'd like to know the opinions of my fellow members with regards to the pam base model they like most. Of most interest to me is the 112h, 176h, & 000, listed in order of most preferred. I know there are many of you out there who have these models so please post opinions, preferences, likes, dislikes. thanks

Tw Best Seadweller....beater Watch.

First and foremost I'd get a better crown...the cgs are not complete if not worse.... without a better crown. Perhaps a better dial... -
Try Josh...I know his vintage bracelets come with them. You have to buy the whole bracelet though as I don't think he just sells the endlinks.
-
My hour hand is at 12 while the minute hand is still on 11:40. Is there is any secret or trick to aligning the hour and minute hands on a Panerai rep. Once the movement is out of dial do I need to remove the hands and put them back on or can I just align them to the 12 o'clock position without removing them...like one might do with an old clock.
-
How can you tell that it's a pre-F insert...other than the fact that the package says it's for an 16800? Is there a way to tell by looking at it? Although I'm happy to have a gen insert, the lume on my sub's gen dial is tritium and is now a creamy color. The pearl on this new sub is obviously pearly white and, IMO, clashes with the dial when I lay it over the top of the existing insert. It kinda makes the watch look fake, hate to say it....Not that it's not fake but you know what I mean. I dunno
-
I totally agree. There are plenty of great aftermarket inserts out there for far less than you're going to pay for a gen insert.
-
We all know how tough gen inserts are to source...I just got lucky and my supplier informed me he has no more after this one and this one he had for quite some time... and just decided to get rid of it to fill my order. I lucked out. For modding the pearl of our existing rep pearls or any aftermarket rep, several types of craftsman glue work great. I get mine from Michaels. Just put a dab on a piece of paper and, using a toothpick, place a small dab onto the pearl. The glue may sit a little high once you do it and you'll want to flatten it down but don't. It will sit down quite a bit as it drys. The glue will give it that shine that many aftermarket pearls lack.
-
Wh What does your pearl look like now, do you have any pics? I might be able to help you with a quick mod.

One of the suppliers I use for rolex parts sent me a nice surprise today. I had ordered an aftermarket bezel insert for a project and the only one he had left was a Rolex factory original... so he sent it to me and told me to enjoy...I sure will...I love my suppliers

Just showed it to my fiancè and she loved it Looks like it might be her first rep.

@TJGladeRaider...if you ever want to part with any of those beauties, pm me...all those watches and you only have 2 wrists...lol
-
beautiful watch. I'm liking omegas more and more...
-
Thanks guys...I can't tell you how happy I am to finally have this on my wrist. All I need is the correct bracelet with the 580 end links and 93150 bracelet...I've got the old solid mid links tw bracelet. Not that big of a deal but it would be nice to complete the sub with a correct hollow mid link/end link bracelet.
