Nice score, beautiful watch. Every time I walk by the AD I drool over the PO...the gen looks so good. I owned the UPO and it sure didn't look as good as the gen. Congratulations.
-
Thanks,,,I'm actually repless right now...waiting to jump on the right piece. I am really missing my pams though. If I could own one rep, I think it'd be a pam.

Here is my Speedy Pro that I picked up last week. I think this watch wears bigger on a Nato strap so that's what I prefer. There are also some pics with my 16600 for size comparison. Enjoy.

I just scored a killer deal on a gen Omega Speedmaster head only...so no bracelet. Short of buying a gen bracelet, I'd be interested in a rep bracelet but I'm unsure of the quality. Can anyone here comment on the quality of their rep speedmaster bracelet? I know the PO bracelets have come a long way but I have no clue about the speedmaster. My plan was to through it on a nato strap which I'm still going to do but it would be nice to have the bracelet option too.

The housing/mortgage bubble has been discussed for several years now here in San Diego, California...were I've lived for the past 8 years...after moving from my hometown in the Bay Area. Of course no one knew the extent of the crisis to come, but when the value of homes were seeing double digit annual increases, you didn't have to be an finance insider to sense there's a little something more going on. I didn't own then so it was interesting to see things with an outsider's perspective...I admit I felt a bit left out during the boom but I wasn't about to spend $600k on a 700sf bungalow...something just didn't feel right about that. But with respects to my previous comments, to say that the economy was zipping along as it was issuing/insuring bad mortgages just seems a bit contradictory in my opinion...perhaps just conceptually as it appears that was the case for some of us. And with regards to the president just signing things...his/her signature is the only one that counts...VETO!
-
I think these thoughts are quite contradictory...you'd have to be quite foolish to consider the "recent stock market/mortgage/credit crisis" independent of the 6 or more years our economy was "zipping along" under Bush's presidency.

This beauty for me...

Just make sure that you do not follow the link to paypal from your email address. Log into paypal independently. Everything should be fine though...just provide what they ask.

Is this really the worst day in the last 19 years you've lived here. Wow, were have you been for the last 8?

The watch in the pic is gen...I just bought and sold a T serial sub last month...bought it for $3775 and sold it for $3500 2 weeks later because I really wanted a 16600 and didn't have patience...I took a hit but considering the state of the economy right now, I was just lucky to sell it. You got the lowest price you'll find a 16610 at and the tritium dialed subs are becoming harder to find. Although I would advise you secure proper shipping and be cautious what you have the seller put on the customs forms. Apparently it's against the law to import a Rolex watch into the US via shipping from a private party or 'grey' dealer...customs may confiscate it...if they do let it through, be prepared to pay a hefty duty on that beauty. The only legal way to bring a Rolex into the states is via an AD or on your wrist. I know it's not what you want to hear but it's best to know ahead of time. I sold my T serial to a guy in France and he insisted I state the value on the customs forms at $100 and had me ship the watch separate from the boxes/papers. He took full responsibility for any seizures/duties...but everything shipped fine and he had it on his wrist in less than a week. Here are some pics of my gen T serial 16610 when I had it:

welcome back R...interesting travels!

come to think of it, if you're prepared to drop that kind of cash on a Rolex, I say get the ss daytona...they're more readily available now than they have been in a while due to the 'meltdown.' You'd spend the same as you would on a deepsea, have a classic, and a way better investment. Every deeepsea I see being sold on the second hand market is being sold at a loss. And it will stay that way for a least a couple of more years.
-
I would wait. The word is that these will be readily available at the ADs in June. Remember, the deep sea replaced the sea dweller. The deep sea will be around for some time to come. I say pick up an SD if you want something that will apreciate over the next ten years.
-
Not too small at all...especially for my 8.5"+ wrists...
-
I just spent over $4k on a pre-owned Sea-Dweller and the lume is not much better than the reps...My gen Oris glowed like a torch...just like my SL 112, 188, & 210...all lumed by resident modders on the forums. Love my Sea-Dweller but the lume on the gen Rolex watches is pretty poor.
-
I sold these off a bit ago but not before snapping some pics. The 188 is the standard daylight case and the 196 is the 'old case'. Judge for yourself...I don't know which one is more accurate to the gen...I'll leave that to the experts but I thought it'd be good to finally get some pics side by side. old case on left...as you can see, the caseback is much thicker on the old case... old case on top...bezel is clearly thicker on the old case...lugs are shaped differently too... old case on left...bezel is wider/fatter on the new case, the bezel on the old case is thinner... old case on right...the crown guard is thinner on the old case, I don't know which is more accurate... old case on right...this picture speaks for itself...
-
I know but what sold me is the fact that you can only wear one at a time. Totally agree. What Rolex is coming out with in the next couple of years is nauseating...get the classics while you can. Indeed, the Y was the last serial with the lug holes...you'd be surprised at what they're going for now.
-
You can, all you have to do is clear out your entire collection...
-
After a major liquidation, I'm down to one and it's a keeper...I hope... JK If I could only have one, this is it...and the fact that it's now discontinued makes it all the more special...my F series 16600. Had to whip the cigar box out for one of the last times...well maybe for until I can afford reps again, this gen broke the bank...
-
That sucks! Although EL is not the only one who does it...and it's not always intentional. Dealers often take the word of the their supplier when dealing with so many watches...a similar thing happened to me when I bought a UPO from PT, I had to send the watch back 3 times because it had the wrong movement...very frustrating. I always check the movement now on reps...a caseback opener & silicone grease is something we should all have...well worth the investment. Just pop the caseback and take a look...it's worth the peace of mind!
-
Hey B, The 93150 bracelet on my 16610 rattles like hell too...it's just how it is. It's Rolex! Comfortable as hell though, I have to look down at my wrist to make sure it's still there sometimes...when it's not rattling of course.
-
Yeah, it's now $6k for a SS Sub.
-
That is the chart I've seen too, I don't think things have changed much.
-
I agree, that looks amazing! Job well done.

There are tons of rumors flying around the gen forums. Haven't heard that the GMT IIc is going to be limited or discontinued but it has been confirmed by several ADs that the Seadweller is discontinued and is not in their newest catalog. Folks are disappointed about this because the DeepSea is suppose to be the replacement and there are plenty of mixed feelings about it...namely the price tag...which seems to be coming down. I find the most interesting news though, is that of the new submariner to be revealed in 2010 or so. It'll be along the same lines of the GMT IIc with polished mid section on the bracelet, maxi dial, ceramic bezel, thicker case, wider cgs, etc. With these new changes, does that mean the discontinuance of the 'classic' submariner. Interesting... Here is a mock up
