  1. Hey if I can get in on the action, please do send one my way. Thanks!!!
  2. Beautiful addition my friend...a nice little friend for your 16600. Funny thing is, I picked up my first gen 16610 T series last week, and have an F series 16600 on its way to me this week...2 of the classics...and the best!
  3. H*ly S**t my man. Did you re-enlist? Great to see you're taking care of biz...but those wrists do indeed look bare. Hope your plans don't involve you leaving the SoCal area.
  4. That is a good deal indeed. There was one with a tiny dent on the bottom side of the case on TZ for something like $2800 a couple of days ago...I had to restrain myself as I'm in the hunt for a SD.
  5. It's hard to tell from those pics which are from the seller...some pics look gen, others are suspect. This doesn't necessarily mean that your watch is a rep, it probably does mean that the reps are that good. A real quick way to tell if your watch is gen is to set the time. When setting the time on a gen rolex, you turn the crown clockwise to advance the second/hour hands...just like a manual wind ie: your 44mm pams. Reps using the standard ETA movements/Asian movements like the sub reps are the opposite. When setting the time, you turn the crown counter clockwise to advance the hands. This is the easiest way to quickly tell whether you need to worry.

I feel you...I'm definitely not out of the rep game although I don't know about 2 weeks. I had to liquidate my collection to fund a gen as I did not want to put it on plastic. However, it should be a lot more enjoyable collecting reps knowing that I've got a nice gen too...that I'm sure of.

Thanks for the kind comments. This is indeed what I sold my entire collection for...a "T" series Submariner with ALL of the accessories. Good ol tritium dial resting in a lug holed case...a classic! Fortunate for me I was able to procure this beauty indirectly from the original owner so it came with everything: Outer/Inner Boxes, booklets, papers, polishing cloth, tag, & anchor...the whole package. Nothing compares to the gen! It's funny though, I almost need to learn how to wear a gen...I still find myself thinking I'm still wearing rep...you definitely carry yourself/wear your watches with a different attitude when your wearing rep vs. gen. On a sad note, an opportunity has arisen for me to purchase an F series SD...the SD was my initial choice but I just could pass up an opportunity to own this sub with all the trimmings. So once my SD arrives, this will be going up for sale. I cannot afford to keep both. But I will enjoy it for the time being!

  9. I'm not a gold guy but those watches look stunning. Did your brother really pic that up for just a few grand?
  10. Hey brother, you know how I feel. I think you're doing the right thing, it sounds like you're taking care of business. I wish you the best. Maybe now with a break from the forum, we can find some time for some lunch!
  11. Thank you for all of the suggestions. I think I know where I'm headed but I just wanted to get some more ideas. A bit more though about my likes...My small collection includes an Oris TT1, 3 Pams, and a franken 16610. I really dig Rolex & Panerai...because of that, I'm leaning towards a used SD...anything with a T dial would float my boat. I would consider a Sub too but only if it were a 16800 or something with some historic value. Resale value is not at the forefront but it's definitely in the back of my mind. I don't want to buy something that is worth a fraction of what I paid 10 years from now. But a classic design it must be...nothing to outrageous or bulky. I like big watches because my wrist is huge and I'm a big guy @ 6'5" but nothing that is obscenely big. OK, so in order of preference, here are my choices. As boring as they may seem, they are what I like... 1. Rolex SD (would prefer an earlier model 16600 with T dial and lug holes) 2. Rolex Sub (same as above) 3. Omega either PO or Speedy 4. Pam (base/logo model) I could live with getting a gen Rolex and keeping one of my pam reps to satisfy the strap fetish. Part of me is somewhat hesitant to get a gen Pam because I feel their current prices may be somewhat inflated. What I mean is that a watch that cost $5k today cost 1/2 that 5 years ago. Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful watches and my 3 Pam reps get the most wrist time hands down but I'm a little put off by the Panerai frenzy...sort of like the housing market. I will own a gen Pam someday but I feel that I should probably own a Rollie first.
  12. Is it the current series?
  13. Appreciate the heads up T but not much of an Explorer guy. I love Rolex but probably the only models that I could pull off with my size wrist would be the Sub or SD...I wish you still had your Sub!
  14. If one were going to sell off their collection to fund a gen, what would you recommend? I figure I'm working with a range of $2k-$4k depending on what I sell (I've got a small but quality collection), how much I'm willing to chip in from my wallet. I prefer a pre-owned watch because I believe in getting the most watch for my money...a few scratches or swirl marks make no difference to me. Specialy dive/pilot brands really don't interest me but I know I can get into the mid range of Omega and the low range of Rolex/Panerai/IWC so what do you think? I just want a watch that I can wear everyday, will look great on a bracelet or a strap, and something I can hand down to my kid one day. Any suggestions? Also, I'm not above just getting a Sub either...
  15. OT...I don't have an iPhone but do have an iPod touch and it's brilliant! Posting with it right now. If you're like me and cannot get an iPhone because you're locked into another phone contract, I'd recommend the iPod touch. It's like a mini mac in your hands!
  16. Sounds like a great sale...wish I was near. Like was said above, it is most likely a sale on closeout models/inventory that has been sitting a while. There will be good deals for sure but it's certainly not 50%-70% all watches in stock.
  17. Cute little pup, congratulations!
  18. Nice Strap...and watch.
  19. I don't think Zig is taking any new work for the time being. The best of luck to you though.
  20. Take a look at the <meta> tags too...but I bet it has something to do with the google click ads and the like.
  21. Terrible News... I'm at a loss for words. I know your wife must be torn up too. Just got a little puppy of our own a couple of months ago...can't even imagine. I'm sorry Dave.
  22. Well my vote is for the Di-Modell Chronissimo but that velco strap looks the business too.
  23. Here are some quick shots of my 40 & 36.
