So far I've had 1 Asia 7750 (28,800bph) and 100% failure rate. Had it repaired and serviced and it has been sweet ever since - and the chronos take a bashing! No one can say they weren't warned about these. If you buy one always factor in the cost of some work. If it doesn't need it then you're quids in (and servicing needn't cost the earth...)

The bezel itself won't fit as the click-spring arrangement is different. The insert will fit though.

I think the phenomenon you are describing is entirely dependent on the lighting. Some have described the opposite effect to what you have seen ie. the inner bezel appears 'pearlescent' while the dial itself looks flat colour. I've compared rep and gen side by side (in my hands) in identical lighting and I struggle to see a difference, except perhaps that the rep has a slightly glossier finish to the untextured parts of the dial. PS. TTK's 'beautiful rep' was the exact watch I used for comparison (as he sold it to me )

The Asian PO was modified to accept this strap after I ordered one with rubber strap from Andrew/Trusty approx 1 year ago and it arrived from his drop-shipper disassembled because it didn't fit. I informed Andrew, who promptly had another one modified with the correct holes and shipped out. The modification then became part of the production run. See here.
