  1. I voted first, and went for black with rubber strap, because it is James Bond's choice.
  2. sniff, sniff "I smell [censored]!!"
  3. Proof that buying an ETA powered watch is no assurance of trouble-free ownership. You can't legislate against cack-handed assembly.
  4. But I'll bet Rab C. told you it was a genuine gold plated Swiss Cheese timepiece and said he'd let you have it for your next three Giro cheques...
  5. Despite being delivered with moisture already in the case ( ) my 45mm Asia movement rubber strap PO has survived swimming, buckets of hot soapy water and a few direct hits with a pressure washer once I'd dried it out, reseated the caseback o-ring and tightened things up properly.
  6. I've come to the realisation that I simply can't get away with wearing reps of £2k+ watches, at least not in the company of anyone who knows me in any way more than passing. I'm not a tramp/bum by any means, but my car/house/clothes/job do not shout 'masses of disposable income'. It came home to me when a good friend turned up at the pub recently with a very nice and simple genuine TAG Heuer Link that he'd managed to purchase for a third of retail price thanks to a voucher loyalty scheme that decided to triple the value of his points. His watch is plain and understated, but it's real! I felt comfortable with the rep Oris TT1 I wore most of last year (but sadly broke by dropping it on a tiled floor) and can just about get away with my favourite Omegas as long as I restrict myself to one or two (rather than the half-dozen I'd like...) The point I am waffling around is - what is a really convincing and good value rep of a quality but not quite astronomically premium price watch? The new TAG link chronographs with 7750 are catching my eye and I gather King is selling them at a great price. (PS. I know that some used or grey-market gens can be snagged for hundreds rather than thousands, but I'd end up leaving it in the box as I'd be too frightened I'd damage it....)
  7. I for one feel that the world has moved on. Returning to RWGuide is just gonna cause more confusion and cross posting. The RWG 'brand' has been taken over by stronger more stable managers and lives here now. Replica-Watch-Guide is associated with trouble, and you know the saying about giving a dog a bad name. If the trouble makers want to return to their playground then that is their choice, but I won't be spending any time in their company.
  8. (Still can't believe that England are above Italy in the world rankings.)
  9. I'm not even sure I want to log in over there considering all the password phishing that's been going on! Funny how all that crap started when RWG1 started lurching back into life....
  10. That is an intelligent move. Would be a lot simpler than swapping the markers from the best 42mm dial like RBJ did. @ubi and others - the co-axial movements have a slower beat in order to increase the power reserve.
  11. I think you are right. Closer inspection of the pictures makes me think that this is essentially the 45mm case that we've already seen previously with an Asian movement inside. The machining marks on the caseback are present, the lug size looks like 20mm instead of 22mm, and the bezel edging has the same 'flaw' as my 45mm Asian ie. it has the 'old penny' ridges of the 42mm gen rather than the correct scalloping of the 45mm. The good points of the 45mm Asian are all present though ie. the best dial print and logo location of them all! I'm now thinking this isn't worth the punt after all, unless you are an 'ETAs only' person. The Asia will still 'look' better from the outside with the correct movement beat.
  12. Others promised and failed to deliver... 45mm Planet Ocean ETA Looks damn good too! Even manages to be the first with the mixture of orange lettering and black bezel as recently released by Omega themselves. OK, all I'm waiting for now is the rubber strap version and I'm in....
  13. ETA might though... That movement is comical BTW. Hell mend anyone buying a 'genuine swiss ETA 7750' with subdials at 3, 6 and 9...
  14. I was going to ask the same question....
  15. The additional lens on the date window is normally incorporated as part of the watch dial. I haven't taken my 090 apart to figure out how it is attached, but I previously had an Oris TT1 rep which had a date magifier 'built in' to the dial. It may be possible to fit one as an afterthought, or alternatively replace the complete dial with one that has it...
  16. Hats off to Paul - he's only gone and had the design changed.... SMP GMT (now with solid rotor, still wrong though) 9.5 out of 10 for effort!
  17. Has to be the most boring stat I ever read...
  18. Omega's calibre 1128 is their own GMT modified and Co-Axial version of the 1120 which is itself a refinement of the ETA 2892. This is sadly where our reps fall far short - generic ETA's just don't cut it any more. They are way wrong for Rolex reps already (despite shitty cutouts on the rotors and pink stickers on the gears) and are getting further away from the custom movements too. When Panny start doing their own then we're completely screwed. I hope it motivates the rep factories to come up with something better than a bastardised 2836 day-date movement pretending to be a GMT. At this rate you would be better with a decent Asian movement in one of these - it will function properly as a GMT and replicate the beat of the co-axial movement more accurately. Although some will still try and argue a completely wrong, fudged ETA engine is better.....
  19. Don't want to turn this into a pissing contest. There are plenty people in here who know what I am talking about. However, there are many more who will take your words at face value. Original style means styled like the original as found in the watch on which the rep is based. This is clearly untrue, but I suspect you are merely transferring this description from where it is used for Rolex replicas, where it may be closer to the truth. The pictures do indeed tell a story - ie. that your description is wrong!
  20. I wondered how long it would take for JTB to find the The Who reference! PS. The current CN subs are all too small, even the ones with the improved CG's.
  21. Hilarious! Paul is trying to market a glaring inaccuracy as a desirable feature. Got to admire his nerve. The cut-outs are supposed to look like the ones on Rolex Calibre rotors. Omega Calibre rotors look nothing like this. False advertising?
  22. Seamaster Gmt Latest Original Style Movement Version Original style my [censored]! The cut-outs on the rotor are supposed to be aping Rolex calibres. The Omega Calibre 1128 looks absolutely nothing like that. Not even slightly. Naughty Paul!
  23. Sorry, but for all I enjoyed Vegas, as an Italian citizen I find describing the concrete and glassfibre warehouse with the artificial dampness on the floor tiles being decribed as 'St. Mark's square' rather comical. My impression of 'The Venetian' compared to the real Venice was like being in a Walt Disney cartoon version of reality. Out of all the hotels in Vegas, the only one that didn't have me laughing out loud was The Bellagio as it didn't try to ape another part of the world.
