  1. I fully agree. I'm all for airbnb too. When travelling solo I also use Points from SPG and being Gold or Platinum helps. But even if you are upgraded in a junior suite, or a suite, it will always be small compared to an appartment... In the end, travelling private, an appartment is much more comfortable and in the end who needs room service when one can grab whatever at the grocery store ;-)
  2. I'm a NYC fan and went there several times. You may look at a different solution: rent an apartment might be cheaper and more comfortable. (Avoid CraigList, there are way too many scams) Also, Time Square is easy to reach from anywhere in Manhattan and will be expensive anyway. There are many other areas with charm, better food, better shops and bars. Maybe you can have a look at these: www.airbnb.com www.homelidays.com Enjoy! I'm jalous, no NYC this year :-(
  3. I'm with Vlydog Freddy. It looks "weird" on you beautiful Daytona...
  4. Please contact one of us. And indeed stop posting all over the place, this is not helping the community at all.
  5. I will agree with what you say but partially I must add that I've been building many "frankens" with some legendary members here before. What's left from those times is good memories and friendship, not the watches from which I probably recoup 75% in the best cases. Modding is like everything else in the end of the day: when you sourced what you wanted, have the final watch carry the parts you wanted, you spent many time and energy (which should be added to the final budget) and a lot of money to end up with a rep anyway. I probably had the most complicated project which was to build a single red, a double red and a great white + a couple of 1680 red/white. It took years and in the end I was so happy with my gen 1680 white when I could afford one very nice specimen that I let the reps go. Now, I had to let the gen go too...shall I build another series of 1665 and 1680? Nope, I'm only improving a 1665 white and a 1680 white because I like them so much, cannot afford the gens at the moment and have them in the good hands of two estimated members of this community. In the end a 1.500$ watch, or even more, isn't truly different from a 500$ one in terms of accuracy in my eyes anymore if you compare it to its gen counterpart. So, let's take a true example of a watch build: Andy and his daughter build me a very unique watch. I'm the only one in the entire world to own this one (see here under). Nobody else ever will I have a booklet coming with it showing "the making of". Well, that is what I would call "build a watch". Hmmm, not sure if I agree. Back to food: for 20% of the real deal you will never get the great meal, the real deal. Same with watches. In the end, I discovered reps a few years ago and I have never ever been called out by anybody. So, my thing is not to "pretend" I wear the real deal, it's just about liking the design but temporary not able to get the real deal. Just my two cents of course
  6. Guys, Sorry but let’s be straight: isn't it more a question of having the money to buy each watch gen? In my case, it is. I buy "good" reps because I cannot afford every single watch I like as gen I had several gens in the past, at the same time, and now only a 16610 & JLC Master Control because my finances are down. The 20 others watches currently in my boxes are reps...fake...copies... Some very good copies but NEVER as good as a gen (coming with the service of the gen brand and with the value that will increase through the years by the way). Try to resell you super franken for the money you put in it… If I was making a million a year I would never waste my time with the reps and their ongoing problems! On the other hand, what IS very nice in the rep collection is that you get to know people from around the world, meet them and make friends with watchmaker skills that can swap the dead CHS movement on an Explorer II to fit a cool ETA 2836-2 with ICHS that works fine for years or relume a Noob Factory DeepSea! Would you eat fake beef, kiss fake girls, fly fake planes? I don't think so. Bottom line: we are poor (at least I am) My two gens that are my favorites I simply hope I will ever have to sell them!
  7. Just tried it (attaching directly from my HD). It works fine indeed so f uck the bu ck et
  8. Most amazing is that the owner let RSC changed the hands and even more amazing is why would he change them? It's always possible to ask Rolex to change them but if he didn't ask him, then of course he should send it back. Allthough it will probably to late as in many countries I've been told that RSC does not return parts and just trash them I wish I was a trash collector at my local RSC ;-) I would make a fortune
  9. Hey guys, Nice thread. Any new update on the black dial one? Anybody got a Noob with black dial recently? Cheers Stephane
  10. I see we all agree on the 5! I love it too. BUT ...guess what: can't find it anymore after we moved a couple of years ago
  11. I got my son a first watch a while ago...years ago in fact. He is now 14 and does not wear a watch When he was around your son's age I got him this: I also got the next one and the next one... But in the end he is still not wearing any watch allthough each time I change watch he comes in with a comment on it! Go figure! I would recommend to go for "real" (Automatic + complications) as there are many many cheap ones out there like that first Seiko I got him for less than 50$ Good luck!
  12. Whatever version of the SD or SUB, it is always a beauty! At least for me. Wear it well
  13. Congrats! That is quite an achievement and must have been a loooong road I would never have guessed for the DW and the bezel!
  14. Oh well, then I guess I should do that too. By the way, anybody an idea where to find other matching bracelets for this model?
  15. Wow, that is not good if we start to loose screws! Mine is still there but after 2 weeks I noticed that the screws of the bracelet links are coming out here!
  16. Ah, well, that is so ...woman! Spending money to please the man ...but spending his money (sort of!). You shouldn't have told him that said. And yes, buying a rep is a good idea if you don't want to arm your gens. I'm wearing my Noob Gmt these days as I'm doing some works in the house...at least the dust doesn't penetrate my gen sub PS: I don't see a JLC listed in your list "My reps" in your sig...
  17. Thanks Ingenieur! But note, not all are still in my boxes EDIT: links to full pictorials are repaired now.
  18. Thanks for sharing guys. It's always a great moment when a GTG happens! All the best to you all!
