What you say -
Ah, that is a good idea...but he would cost me a fortune in Ricard Yes, I agree that my Alarm is a good thing as there are signs everywhere to let them know they'd better choose an easier target. Plus it is indeed centraly monitored. Having said that, it may take 15 minutes before they send someone after having called me and follow their procedures. A thief with good skills can find everything they need in 15 minutes. And I'm pretty sure professionals know that these alarms companies are not sending somebody right away. So, a safe is a second level of security in the case the enter the house. If it is burried in the ground and in an unexpected location, it will certainly take more than 15 minutes to find it and open it. Many thanks for all the advices so far!

Thanks for your imput guys. Some great ideas here. As I have no bear but an alarm system connected to a dispatching, I think I will investigate the best place to put a safe, definitly in the ground, somewhere in the house. I'll get a second one as well and make it "more" visible. I agree, the only think we can do is buy time...Pros will always find what they look for and probably don't care about alarm or cameras.

Hi Guys, Recently my ex-wife's place was broken down twice in 2 months time and she lost every single jewel and watch As one of the jewel was a engagement diamond ring build from one of the diamond earings of my grand mother, I was very shoked. So I rent a safe at the bank and only have two watches at my place and no remaining jewels from our family. Now, this is not the right place for a watch lover as I almost never go to the bank to change watch of course. So, I'm thinking to buy a safe and have it installed at my place so I can have an easier access to the watch I want to wear. Has anybody some advice to give about storing their watches at home? Cheers Stephane

I'm ok with it ! -
Wow, I never stop to learn new things here ! All those watches that I never heard about are great guys. What a collection F. You should have bring them in Brussels

I think you are raising a very good point here Nanuq. Speaking for myself, I maybe too much brand sensitive. But I am probably not the only one. I have seen many watches that have a great look and nice presence on the wrist, including nice movements inside. In example the Seiko Monster, which I own for years now, and only wore a couple of times but that I would never sell because...I like it very much. Another great example is my very nice Tissot PRS 516 So, maybe this thread could be used to educate us and move to a less brand sensitive choice of watches

So true. I recently was at a business meeting and spot an old GMT on a guy's wrist. I presented my hand willing to take his arm and he thought I was willing to shake his hand I said "no, we already shaked hands, I want to have a closer look at your great watch". He immediately looked at my wrist and noticed I wore a Rolex (my 1999 16610). I said where it came from (Amsterdam AD), the age and the specs of the SWISS dial, flat S, and he said that his was 20 years old bought in Schipol (Amsterdam's airport). It was a perfectly well aged GMT but the guy didn't know a clue about his own watch He said "well, yes I wanted a watch to dive but I think yours is the one, no?". I told him, "yep mine is a Submariner, yours is a GMT Master. So mine is for divers and yours for travellers and pilots"

Et voilà un autre bump : BUMP -
Of course you are first in line for the bracelet :-) And I do sincerely apologize being such a Rolex lover ! My gens are long gone, except my 16610 flat s of course, but if my business goes back up one day, I will certainly get myself another gen 1680 and great white. Right now, I do reinvent the wheel once again, and have a 1680 and a 1665 which are "under construction" at the moment. Both have a gen rail dial and should be very nice looking after some fine tuning Oh, and yes, the first (and consecutive rounds probably) will be on me in Malmö ! Just wondering - where are all the modders at on our forum?
Stephane replied to triplehd's topic in General Discussion
I am with Watchmeister here. I would add that as a member of RWG, after some time here, I met many other members with various skills. All have a daytime job and none of them want to be called "modder". One is a true watchmaker, another is great in AR coating, another one can make your old and abused 93150 look like new...and so on. I have used modders, like anybody else, but the only reliable one I knew is long gone. All others "wanna be" fucked up my watches... -
