  1. Beautifull projects you have there once again Freddy. Thanks for nice words and we miss you here
  2. Oh my god, so sorry to hear that Uncle. You should have joined for a late burger here There are obviously too many rules in NYC It was a great and nice suprise to finaly meet you. I wouldn't mind to meet again Cheers Stephane
  3. Did you say Boston ? Any trains from NYC ?
  4. Ubi, Sorry to be late here, specially because everything has been said Wonderfull photos of a splendid watch done by a great member Thanks so much for sharing Cheers Stephane
  5. I do agree with you guys. Stick a gen dial in a watch and you have "an as close as it can be one". We often look for gen crowns or tubes, but the dial is something to consider first. It "makes" the watch. Comparing my gen 16570 to the franken here, the first obvious doubt about it being a gen is the dial. Genuine dials aren't so expensive and are worth in my humble opinion. This for modern Rolex of course...vintage is out of our budget range anyway. While shopping with JoJo today we heard one of these vintage dial went for ...oh, no, I can't say this..it's way to insane. All this to finaly say: great watches guys
  6. Dear All, I sincerely think the event deserves a report, if not the event, the persons who participated surely do. I'm not sure what is the best way to "report" this to the community so I decided to share my view of this NYC week and the initial GTG, a bit like a diary. I will start by saying that we missed CarlsBadRolex and Dave_Nyc a lot! But as our Admin said to me today: "Stephane, in a year or two, you will probably have met 50% of our members face to face". There will be plenty opportunities in the next years to meet again and please be aware that fresh members are welcome to join these GTGs too of course. Arrival I landed at JFK around noon. In the mid afternoon
  7. Sure, that is episode 2. I'll try to write something tonight if can keep my eyes open Unfortunately not for me. I do not want to sound snob but I trully prefer to walk in New York City, meet friends from the forum for a window or not shopping, a few drinks...watch the lovely girs of New York... So, he we go: a anonymous PHOTO of the restaurant yesterday (Thanks to JoJo's great GF ) And for those who'd like to download it, here a little Logo created by a friend of me See you later
  8. Ok, sorry to be late but Jojo and I needed to find a great plave So here is our common wrist shot for the beginning of the week! JoJo35's wrist Mine Cheers Stephane & Jojo
  9. Recovered already and yes shopping start at 11 AM, meeting at the hotel I'll give you a call. Cheers Stephane
  10. It was a great evening for sure ... Wonder if it happened though. I'm still not sure I ain't dreaming! Right now I try to recover Someone is knocking on my head @All thanks for the great moments spend in your city/country @Vlydog Congrats for the organisation, it was perfect Ok, we'll come back with some great photos later, when my hands stop to shake and after a couple of liters of Coke See you soon...
  11. Guys, Here is the current state of the GTG I landed safely and wiated for a couple of hours to check in but everything is fine now. Dluddy arrived first at the hotel (3.30PM). Vlydod and Fwatch are arriving right now (4.10PM). Jetsons is on it's way We weel post the minutes of the GTG for you guys because we think we should have more GTGs. I cannot even describe how exited I am !! Speak soon.... Cheers Stephane
  12. In the AirPort now Ready go to the gate 3 am in New York. See some of you in 12 hours and all in 15! Yiiiiiipeeeee! Bye for now. Stephane Edit: 20 minutes to take off
  13. I think TeeJay sums it in a way. I'm certainly not old enough in the forums to have a long term view but maybe it's just a natural thing. Reviews: it's true that the lack of responses is not very nice, we've all noticed that. That said, we cannot expect everybody to spend their entire day to read and comment every single new thread. Also, for members like By-Tor or Pugwash in example, we cannot hope they will review every single watche that comes out. We all have our favourites and once we own them and reviewed them, well what more can be done? That is why I am in favour of the recently seen reviews where a dealer sends a watch to a member like the Tribal/Eurotimez one. And on top of all, new comers are the blood of RWG. Among them are the future reviewers Noob: I hate that term. It's ridiculous and insulting. As I said before we are all Noobs. I'm a total ingnorant noob when it comes to Breitling and will remain forever. New comers ask stupid questions? I would say no question is stupid. It's a bit like an older member with expererience in Submariner would be the father of a new comer. Shouldn't a father patiently answer all the questions of their sons ? In most of the cultures around the globe it's old persons who teach younger. Why would it be different here? The search? Well how many times did you fail when searching a specific answer and used the search for hours? Friendship: That is in my humble opinion the most important point here. 5 years ago I doubt there was so many members in the forums. Since 2008 my feeling is that we are numerous to have established closer relationship. Look at all these G2G from the US to Singapore or in EU. Remember all the nice gesture we saw here and imagine how many nice ones are done in the background without any publicity. Of course, like in any other community we have some members who constantly look for troubles and controversy. But they are an extreme minority. Conclusion. Yes RWG has changed. And that is good. Without changes, evolution, adaptation so many things disappeared from the planet. I prefer to see RWG follow the evolution of the human race than become the next dinausore. Cheers Stephane
  14. I can't believe it. The thread started almost 2 months ago and here we are Only one more sleep and we have diner toghether. Can't wait to see you guys. Oh, and I could have fucked this great meeting completly. This is a real shame but untill 5 minutes ago I was sure my plane would take off at 12.20 AM A friend of mine proposed to take me to the airport and would pick me up at 10 AM Guess what? I checked the tickets and the plane departs at 10.10 AM! Wow, that was a good idea to check it again See you soon Stephane
  15. Hi Coolfire, I love to travel but not with my "reps" when it is outside EU Too risky and specially for taxes on the return Cheers and thanks for the welcome Stephane
  16. Bonjour et bienvenue depuis Bruxelles Ooops, double post
  17. Congrats Guys. It so cool to meet! I hope I will be able to make it with you one day. Cheers Stephane
  18. Dear All, Please consider this post as Vlydog's and Stephane's common post We are writing this as a true final call. We cannot afford to mess with the restaurant, so here is the list of confirmed members: Kruzer00 - attending alone CarlsBadRolex
  19. Well I said 90% to sound credible but you're right. I can't remember such a bad summer. Ridiculous. As for the aesthetic of Rolex Mvt I agree 100% with you. I was very disapointed to see one the first time. But, you've sum it. They are workhorses...
  20. Thanks Pug. I really need to set up a "studio" one of these days. It's raining 90% of the time here As for the Rolex mvts, I am not going to open the watches anymore as they will all be serviced
  21. Ok, I'll play but cannot compete with your wonderfull photos guys
  22. I think TT answered pretty clearly. Marketing, service, and a ton of other reasons make the price of a gallon of milk completely different from one shop to another. This is true for almost everything, it's called business. That's it! Oh, and we in the admin team want no other Cartel thread because it becomes trully boaring Cheers Stephane
  23. I'll start. I have no idea about Ti watches the only one I have IS the Ingy AMG. I recently rediscovered it specialy with the Ti bracelet. The strap is nice to but the bracelet is definitly better in the end It's a sweet watch, all it needs is perfect AR and a Lello DW which mine has. But having said that, I'm not wearing it at all
  24. Oh, that is very bad news T. I'm really sorry to hear that. Sure, a son is the absolute priority for a father, no doubt about it! You will be missed. My best wishes go to you and your son. Welcome to our little group RLudlowe. Nice to meet you
  25. What else can I say? 1999 Rolex Submariner
