Cartel 1680 white - a Cheap but good base for modifications!
sputim replied to interaktiv's topic in The Rolex Area
Those new cartel vintages are really nice for the price and they can be greatly improved with some small mods. Here is mine with yuki dial, athaya 702 crown and gs crystal. Further need to drill the lug holes to 1.2mm and add a yuki insert with pearl and maybe darken the lume a little but kinda like the service look on this watch. -

Comparison between 5513 [mbw] & 5512 [new cartel]
sputim replied to sputim's topic in The Rolex Area
I tried to do some better close up pictures of the cartel watch. I really like the yuki 5512 dial and its hand set. The clasp and the bracelet is pretty nice except of the end near the end links which is not correct sadly. Is previously mentioned I really like the bezel assembly. You get a whole watch for the less than some rep bezel assemblys cost so not too bad I'd say. -

I agree on you with the crown position however I really have to say the bezel assembly is very nice and I think it is the same quality as the mbw. It hase nice deep bezel teeth and is not too thick IMO. I will upload some better pictures later. -
Comparison between 5513 [mbw] & 5512 [new cartel]

Unfortunately I won't be home the next few weeks but I can do a profile shot of the cartel case and some better shots with day light. Overall very happy with the cartel case and the engraving isn't a big issue for me since I will only wear it on the bracelet. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk -
I recently purchased a 5513 mbw from the latest batch and changed some parts by myself. First of all I have to say the quality of the mbw is very nice, however since I never had a gen in my hands I can't vouch for its accuracy but there are plenty of discussions about that. Nevertheless, it is a very well made case set and I figure certainly more accurate than the new cartel version. Yesterday, I got my hands on a 5512 from the latest cartel batch. I replaced the dial and hands by yuki, installed a very good plexi and an 702 athaya crown and tube. Lubed all the orings to make sure it is watertight. Compared to the mbw it is very close after the mods I have to say and in case you don't want to spend too much the cartel is a very very nice option and the cg's can certainly be improved with some sanding. I really like both watches and I am going to drill the lug holes on both in the near future. Take a look at the comparison pics. The one with the spring bars is always the mbw.

Yup that's right but it looks nicer IMO. But best would be relumed tc hands.

The new cartel case is very good and a little cg shaving and lug hole drilling makes it even better and is a very cheap option. I can vouch fot clark hands but instead of spending that much for a cwp crystal buy the ofrei t-19 from g-s it is simply amazing and when I compared to a gen one I didn't see a difference in clarity at all!

Question about a tube for 5513 case. Help request.
sputim replied to azbank's topic in The Rolex Area
Just for your information when you need to tap the tube take an m3x0.35 and not an m3x0.5 this is very important otherwise you screw up your case. And yeah go with Athaya 702 crown and tube it is excellent. -
Thanks didn't know that. Very helpful! How are his 1665 dials?

Thanks for your information. Where to get HR dials?

Since I want to build a 5513 based on a cartel case with a yuki dial I want to ask the experts which of both dials is more accurate (font, indices, spacing etc.). I am either going with the dial with the eta dial feet or the one with the rlx movement feet. So I would highly appreciate if an expert could chime in. I have no problem with clipping the dial feet so I don't care whether they are located for an eta movement or not. No. 1 for rlx movement - ft first https://yukiwatch.ecwid.com/#!/Rolex-Submariner-5513-white-lume-Matt-dial/p/59975517/category=6702269 No. 2 for eta movement - meters first https://yukiwatch.ecwid.com/#!/Rolex-submariner-5513-dial-white-lume-for-ETA-movement/p/35196164/category=6702300 Cheers
