  1. It could well be. I actually think it looks better with dark numerals...! I doubt I'll be painting the numbers this time, though!
  2. Hey fellas I've now updated the date window again LOL My rep: Pic of the gen: and the 25j ETA 7750 was
  3. Absolutely stunning work, with mouthwatering pictures!
  4. Thanks for the comments guys Yes I used the same hands for the ETA, just did the usual tweaks to make them fit: the sub-dial hand tubes needed a tiny squeeze with the tweezers, and the large chrono hand was opened up using a tiny sewing needle. The main hands went on without a hitch! I was lucky to find the strap on eBay...from a seller based in CONUS....the name escapes me right now... but its the same as the black Monaco, slightly shorter than the rep strap. I dont think any ADs near me (in UK) are stocking the white/silver dial yet. I've only seen the black so far.... and yeah it looks like I will have to do another coat! LOL
  5. So, a few weeks into Carrera Day-Date ownership and the terrible urge to modify it has consumed me. This is my white/silver dial with Asian 7750. We know that the movement screws are blued. We know that the mock-croc strap smells and feels plasticky. We also know that the date window on the gen appears to be darker than the rep. These are the things that I will change. De-case the a7750...etc Pick out the date window, and dip it in clear smoked acrylic paint. Once or twice dependent on how dark you want it. Meanwhile, just throw in an ETA 7750 Date window is darker after one coat - hmmmm, I may have to re-do it for one more coat...?? Throw on a genuine TAG Heuer croc strap (pic taken before the movement & dial mods) Lookin goooood!
  6. Why dont you put the watch inside a shoe or a pocket?
  7. ROFL "the horror........the horror...." that thing deserves an Apocalypse style butchering ....Now
  8. You're gonna love this eyecandy hXXp://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/audemars_piguet_survivor_royal_oak_offshore.htm hXXp://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/new_watches.htm
  9. Hi I couldnt see the product in the link, but I have a Bergeon lume paint vial. Its a pre-mixed liquid compound, but you do need to add a bit of binder for it to set. To be honest, its slightly better than the standard rep lume, but I wouldn't recommend buying it if you need a decent glow. Best to buy the other more expensive types out there
  10. Cant comment on the feel, but apart from the G arrow on the TAG badge, the Black dial looks exact to me. All this was detailed in b16a2's review? As for the AR, i was looking at the gen in the AD - which has colourless AR. Absolutely perfect like Chieftangs stuff. The rep AR has very strong blue tint. This is like the difference between the v1 Skyland and the v2 (which has the better AR) Sometimes I feel like removing the top coat on mine! (EDIT) the AR is not an issue with the white dial Day Date
  11. Yes it sounds like you tried on the brown Day-Date 2008 model. The salesperson probably thought because it was bigger, it was GRAND! lol lmao I also have the older 41mm Carrera Chrono. From memory, I dont think it wears as high as the new one. It certainly goes under a shirt sleeve easier. All I would say is: if you have small wrists - go for the (hasty but cheaper) 41mm Day Date rep - if thats the look you want but if the 43mm size and thickness is ok with you, then the newer Day Date rep is the one to get
  12. Hi, now first off, the Grand Carrera is a different watch & movement to the normal Carreras. The GC dial will have one or two semi-circles (dependant on whether its the chrono or not). It is 43mm. The gen uses the calibre 17 - seconds at 3. http://www.vialuxe.com/Blogs/wp-content/up...rera_chrono.jpg The Carrera Chrono Tachymeter is the calibre 16 (7750) model thats been around for years. measures 41mm. Available in a number of colours http://media.photobucket.com/image/carrera...2007/Fangio.jpg and then we have the new Carrera Day Date, calibre 16. This is the 43mm one. The rep was first made (hastily) in 41mm - using the old rep case. The new version has the correct cal.16 rotor and the correct size case, plus a wider 22mm bracelet as the gen. The rep is available with black, white (silver) and brown dial - as is the gen. http://www.tagheuerblog.com/wp-content/upl...v2a10ba0796.jpg
  13. Seriously cool collection...i love that Pepsi
  14. muhaha it doesnt look that hard/different to replicate...probably that square guilloche dial pattern and correct alignment of the applied markers being the most critical part plenty of images on the net, but none of the clasp http://www.dubbe.nu/bilder/1895bre/breitli...1-Dubbe-02b.png http://www.wired.com/images/slideshow/2009...s/Chronomat.jpg http://latestinstyle.com/blog/wp-content/u...omat-b01-03.jpg http://www.thewatchquote.com/mesIMG/imgStd/26199.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3J67iYJfiMw/ScrW...NOMAT-B01-B.jpg and no doubt that bezel pearl will get f'd up or something * just noticed the interesting shape of the sub dial hands!!
  15. You really think it'll be that long? The DeepSea wasn't out for that long, yet they managed to knock one out based on speculation. ** Same goes for the Skyland and IWC Top Gun... **(ok - I edited to read) REVERSE ENGINEERED from a genuine.... I hope they will be on the ball for this one
  16. Ok ....i was just joking. but seriously, when can we expect to see it repped, using the a7750? I know there was a lot of negativity towards the bezel etc...but come on, there are many much uglier yet still popular reps out there! Just because its a departure from the current model, doesnt mean it wont sell as a rep. $300 is a lot easier to digest than $8000 for the gen!
  17. Shocking! your WS seems like he doesnt have a clue about what he's doing probably the first time he's ever held such a substantial watch - even though its a rep........
  18. Thanks. I had already been looking at that, but wanted something more specific like which tool exactly. Didnt want to spend $280 to find that its useless for the tube removal!
  19. A number of months ago I was in contact with a UK AR company. Unfortunately they wanted an extortionate amount of money to do each crystal.....and that was before I'd even seen the results!
  20. It seems that there must be a batch of UPOs without the anti-mag cover fitted. My recent (3 months ago) purchase didnt have one either. Yet a year or older UPO had one - which I duly liberated to fit to mine! The cover simply presses onto a lip on the movement ring. Yours should have the tiny lip present. The cover itself weighs next to nothing, less than a penny. Maybe a dealer can source one for you.....the next time you buy a watch from them!
  21. Folks I am considering changing the crown and tube for gen Omega on my friends UPO. What tool do I need to get the tube out? ...and where can i buy it? thanks
  22. The black dial is also as good as gen. The TACHYMETER script is correct....its just the AR that needs sorting really
  23. Hi, no my crown isn't screw-down either. I don't think the gen is, since its "only" rated for 100M. I did think that for a moment, but could it just be reflection of a dark object? If you look at the black watch (on that japanese website), some of the numbers are also dark due to reflection. Tough call isn't it? Though if the numerals were dark, i'm sure the official pics would show it as - just like the date window ???
