As they say ........ "It has your name on it"

I whole heartedly agree with Master K ....this is a place full of good and decent people and not tainted by the "stench" of corruption and deceit that is usually associated with "replica" anything . We all understand why we are here and that it's not about "deceiving" anybody .....just a lower cost method of indulging in ones passions. Best -
212 is a nice toy rep ...A7750 is good and will last if serviced and looked after well ...a re-lume is a must 118 is a good buy - pick up a gen crown from enesefe on ebay and get a re-lume and the crown fitted. The 118 dial needs a decent clear coat to enhance the darker tones otherwise the brown tone is a no-no If you can source a solid C/D series Ti case back as well you will have 2 watches for the price of 1 (+ CB) ...PAm 118 and PAM 61

PAMMan...these are the same products available on flebay from seller helenarou... The Ti case and crown look much better in these photos on TZ than on the Bay.. If it's the same as the Steel case set I purchased a few comments - -Short Lugs and no strap dimple on inside of case - accurate A ? -Mineral crystal ?? - Mine is I'm sure -The SS crown is rubbish looking - teeth are flat - this Ti one looks better - but similar -Tube is ridculously thin and a new one is required to fit any other crown -The CG lever is symetrical between the guard - not thinner top portion of the CG - but these can be re-worked. This set could be a good starting point for an 036 or 040?

Looking great on that strap......superb .....you know a PAM makes sense...!!! :fish

A Jimmy Fu case is correct for B-D series automatics and manuals - just the interior milling to accept the movement and spacer rings differs ( Excluding the crystal/cyclops/bezel variations on 23/27/28/29/63 etc ) The case backs are usually thicker - allowing clearance for the auto winding rotors- this makes auto's look thicker than manuals. More recent models I can't comment on I'm afraid but I doubt very much if there would be a different case for different models as generally OP make variants with only dial / case back differences. Probably a manual case and an auto case only for Luminor Marina and maybe the only difference is still the interior milling ? Cheers

These are the only ones I can add to this superb show so far... OEM MX Logo , Rep Pre-V and SC PVD Oh and this "fugly" big old thing ..

You are correct on these flaws versus the genuine ...and trading flaws is a matter of personal preference which is why I parted with all 3 of my previous 036's The lume fill is an easy correct....other flaws not so. The search goes on for a close to "perfect" PAM0036 ..?

I have just finished up my 5218-201/A and 5218-202/A and I thought I'd start the Pre-V Appreciation Society if anyone is interested. I bought some new unlumed dials from DSN and filled them with a miture of C3/C2 powder and some household water based paint. I wanted a kind of new tritium look - maybe not accurate for a 14 year old watch but I can always tint it later if I like. The lume is as weak as it should be ....but not totally dead. I also picked up new DSN case backs and a new 201/A case set , but I decided to stick with the old case set and just use the new CG on the 201/A. It's quite a good CG - except the screw holes are positioned uniquely for DSN's case. A lot of modification was required to get the CG to fit a standard case. The CG is thick enough to re-shape and add some mild flare and curvature without thinning too much. The 202A is in DSN old standard case set...I am hoping to get a case PVD plated by Rolli in due course - just waiting for the perfect CG to arrive and the can take this and the 201 to the next stage with better short lug case sets , OEM crowns and perfect CG's. Not forgetting the straps: 202/A- Don English Bridle Leather - Aged and "patina'd" by Master V - with StrapCulture PVD buckle 201/A - Custom Made Metta - 24/24 140/80 by Master V - with OEM MX Logo buckle Spare - K Wong Deep Ridge black shark - fitted with replica Pre-V Logo buckle purchase from Rolli a long time ago...! Big thanks to V for making all my strap wishes possible. What's in your Pre-V box??

I'm on the fence on the dial text ...I agree it does look larger in these photos than it should - but on my 082 below - it also looks large in the photos but is very satisfying in the "flesh" I have to try it to find out... On the CG modding - I was plagued by the solid and well made CG DSN supplied on the 082 - but it needed the curvature. I used various grades of metal preparation "sandpaper" on a mixture of hard and soft surfaces to obtain the best shape I could. Finishing with a wet and dry grade paper and then with a fibreglass re-finishing brush. Cheers

I have tried Joshua's case set 3 times and I just can't get away with it but never persevered to re-work the CG. I prefer the other std rep ti case set on 177/118 etc - I have one with an OEM ti crown fitted and it has so much potential but I am still not happy with the CG. Also the font on Joshua's dial was too thin for me , I think Lanikai shows the best option that has been available to date. I am not wanting to steal too much of DSN's thunder " but I think this could be the best dial we have seen yet.. Gen And credit where credit is due - DSN delivers the best "back-side" for this piece... Just my 2 pence

Best 036 ...? I'm waiting a little while as DSN has a new dial coming out ...CNC engraved with filled indices as per the 203/A dial released in Jan. Initial scans look good , colour is deep dark brown although there is a question mark over the dial text font size ....which is strange considering the font has been the strong point on all DSN's previous 036 dial versions. I like the finish DSN get's on his Ti cases and the serial markings on his 036/082 are much better than other options. Unfortunately the CG is wrong and needs considerable re-working to get the right curved shape. Once this is done though ...IMHO it's one of the best Ti case/cg combo's available for 082/036/040. I am just hoping that the new DSN 036 has an improved CG / Crown. Oh an I wish someone would make an Asian Hi Beat 6497-2 with proper engraved OPII bridges .......if the E and H series can be done then surely OPII is a no-brainer. I hate those stick on foil plates.

More great info ...many thanks ...This is one of my favourite watches ..

No it's actually good therapy... I picked one up (with certs and papers a couple of years ago for a LOT less) for an even rarer PAM 082 , and every time I pop my DSN 082 in it ...it stops me from recklessly considering to blow $10000 I don't have.... If I had $10K to invest in a watch ......I'd also have a lovely box set to sell on this forum!!! Cheers

This is getting better than TV You da Man

If you had a choice.. gen or rep + cash $$$ ?
fishgodeep replied to milsub5517's topic in The Panerai Area
Your logic is very sound -
Good point SSS , but for me luminosity is not the aim - I just prefer a more accurate "aged tritium" colour than the standard rep lume colour......Ziggy's "aged tritium" effect lume is far kinder on the eye IMHO! Cheers FGD
