  1. As a "collector" reps meet the need that my wallet can't and allow me to have a wide choice of models to wear. They don't really make commercial sense as investments (maybe a couple do) but are a cheaper way to mess about with modding and learning about movements etc which is what the hobby is about for me. I'm really not sure if pure gen wearers or collectors have much interest messing with watches themselves ...as a rule I suspect investment is higher up the scale. If I can get through "rep collector" rehab I'm sure I'll come out the other side as gen owner but still have some "select" franken reps that are just too good to part with. Personally would not invest in a new entry level"gen" prefer to search out a very nice second hand model- would love 001,002,004,009...but if and "when" my luck comes in .....a 233 GMT is top of my wish list.
  2. Holey Moley I love these PR models and can't wait for mine to get back from the Zigster This is a stunner and only re-lume by a master is required as mentioned (IMO)
  3. Great engine ...I love my 540i , never ending power!!!! I-Drive is easy, just take a little practice and then you'll wonder how you lived without it.. Only downside in the UK is cost of gas at over $2.50 a litre ....you are lucky enough not to worry about that. Oh and Homer is right, running costs are not cheap so a warranty would be the best idea
  4. Oh my they are stunners for sure.....thanks for sharing and enjoy them
  5. Now they don't come much rarer than these....the 201a is a modders "wet dream"!!! Thanks for sharing UJ
  6. I pulled the trigger on some parts to upgrade my other pieces and mess about with some dials as I wasn't overly keen on the fill and superlume effect on DSN's version as I don't think it made the most of the CNC engraved indices. I did these myself. The new 201a case set is odd - a stylised attempt at pre-vendome maybe but clearly not correct - never the less this is a rep...!! I will be changing my case set and drilling the lugs as PAMman suggested (thanks) The new crown is good and the CG is a great effort - really chunky and a good fit to the case but lacking the subtle curvature we all crave. The 202a is in DSN's old case and I much prefer it overall.
  7. Looks great and a huge step up from any previous versions....better in the "flesh" than DSN's photo's suggest ?? I can't wait for my new parts to arrive... Thanks for sharing the photos... FGD
  8. Money changed hands for that ...!!!?? A good watchsmith is worth their weight in "gen crowns" , unless of course they are incredibly talented and the size of a slim Hobbit then this formula may colapse under scrutiny :cc_confused: Either way ...Rob rules for me... FGD
  9. You done good Veni , complete redemption after the random patchwork craziness of yesterday :-) This how a Metta strap should be made .....much appreciate the attention to detail as I'm sure will Rob ....oh and that smell...!!! Cheers
  10. Asad , I don't think that's a Jimmy CG , the ones I have are finished to a much better standard and don't have the gaps where the lever sits in the guard. Also- the "shoulders" of the guard are shorter on a JF CG - making the distance between case - crown - CG more aesthetically correct to the original. It may be the photos - but I wouldn't personally accept that as a JF CG. Good luck FGD
  11. It looks really good Kostas ....it's a job well done indeed and glad you like it. I wonder what the interest would be for personalised Luminor case backs ...even bespoke matriculations???? FGD
  12. Sweet!!!.....great photos too...You done good!!! All the best FGD
  13. They don't look like a good representation of the original but If you like them and the price reflects what you purchased then who am I to p*ss on your bonfire.. These are replicas after all. Enjoy FGD
  14. Classy choice Rolli done very well.....love the movement are these readily available ? Just the CG to get right one day now FGD
  15. The Holy Grail ...of things to be repped..
  16. That's really good V , keep some of that hide a side for me please
  17. Just the things that can't be easily modded away... Dials - Text / Subdials / 2 / Alignment / Finish / Size / Materials. CG's - Nothing comes close to a Pre-v or H+ CG and there's not enough Jimmy's in the World to meet demand. Caebacks - the duplidated serials just bug me and the acid etching on some of DSN's is awful Oh and not forgetting deployment buckles with the lifspan of a fruit fly. FGD
  18. That's a superb choice G...!!! :-) Congratulations !!!!
  19. Genius or Ingenious ...either way sounds pretty freakin clever fix...
  20. /A.....You know what to do with this now....! ...thanks for your kind words... Simon
  21. Very very very nice...
  22. Well it has been touched on already - Pugwash has had the integrity to raise this question and he has to be commended for that This is in it's simplest form PR ...no differerent to Gucci giving their latest clothes to Vogue etc....to ensure they get "quality visibility" to prospective purchasers. It's down to the integrity of the recipient to determine if the aim of the review is to benefit them, their "readers" or join the circle and keep everyone satisified.....which is where the real win is. I think that within this approach is a strong rationale - leveraging the knowledge of experienced members to improve the finished product. It would be of great benefit to this forum if the distinguished and knowledgable members had the opportunity to review pre-releases with a view to delivering an "improved" finished product for the benefit of all. If this "Eutopia" is a step too far for now ....enjoy the perks that seniority deserves and stick to your guns... All the best FGD
  23. The Force is indeed strong with these two......Jedi Master and Sith Lord on the rocks...... FGD
  24. Can't decide ...probably some of these 253 , 26 and 082 have just been Ziggified ...253 on a new OEM carbon coramid deployment and a gen blue gator on the 082.. That said ...the Metta on the 112 is awesome (the scent of the sea!!) and the V Vintage Greek Hide on the 002 is my favourite strap of all time...
  25. M - More and more please ....for me this is the pinnacle of replica watch modding ....I can only imagine the time , effort , skill and passion that must have gone into creating this and your other pieces.......surely as much if not more than if it was made in Firenze in the 1930's/40's Inspirational ....
