  1. IMHO - if you can afford a watch ...you can afford to support this forum....
  2. The sound of wisdom rings true.... FGD
  3. Great review ...many thanks My 7753- 236 is one of my favourite pieces - but I am hung up on the bezel as well... Was the case swap straight forward? Is the date corrector still functional at 10? Cheers FGD
  4. Welcome back dude.....nice looking hide you been collecting Oh and a nice looking Cali too......just one thing missing ? Speak soon FGD
  5. love the ebel and the RW first.. No ...but I have a mate (who did the beef) who has never been the same since ....I'm sure he boils eggs in Unicorn tears only now.... :-)
  6. Saved and done.......many thanks Ari FGD
  7. Well I understand the case back can be swapped on another 127/217 but did not think there was an "Ed Zachary" Fiddy case ....as in "Ed Zachary the same as the gen".....!! :-) But then ...I seldom venture over 44mm Like to see you finished result....good luck FGD

  9. Each time it happened to me there has been a customs charge to pay ...17.5% VAT + some other bits. NEVER had anything not get through though .......fingers crossed FGD
  10. Words are not enough...I need to borrow some more meaningful lyrics from the world famous musical quintet "The Spice Girls"........."ZigaZigaaaahhh!"
  11. Now you have lost me on the above ....but good luck with your project... FGD
  12. Slai, I dined at Anthony's in Leeds (West Yorkshire UK) before Christmas........one of Heston's protege's ... Snails fingernails with fish poo , followed by pigs cheek and what looked like espresso spittle.........lets just say I was hungry ( and broke) afterwards..... The ultra slow cooked rib of beef is to die for though ....try it at home...!!! FGD
  13. Esdee If you want a better fiddy .....you are almost there...... You have a good movement already E0117 Case set - probably the best around I'd suggest that all this needs is Re-lume and trimming the colar on the minute hand so it fits flush on the cannon pinnion - $120 Davidsen Sapphire Crystal with true AR- $80 I think Maybe a CG lever tightenting - $20 or so. Both of these will require tools and a professional modder - I personally reccomend Ziggy or Vaccuum only. All in all - I'd say $250 inc shipping / return and you have it ...far cheaper and more satisfying (IMHO) than buying a new one... Just my 2 cents / pence ... Cheers FGD
  14. Thanks for all the kind words guys....It's picking up knowledge , tips and parts from people on this forum that keeps me inspired. TigerD...as Scoobs is in EU also, I am in UK and have no issues at all sending to Ziggy....it's watertight and only once in 12 months or so have I had to pay a customs charge ...when I wanted a franken insured on the return journey. Ziggy is the way....IMHO. FGD
  15. As soon as my sharkskin thigh boots are ready ...I'll be back....!!! PS : Babola ...is that a Sergio Tachinni logo on the belt ?...Old Skool Cool .... FGD
  16. Ari ....that's amazing ....you got many things right first time ....makes you wonder exactly what the issue is for the makers.... Love the artwork file....please can you send to me ?? Oh ....and welcome ...keep contributing like this and your onto a winner!! All the best FGD
  17. In anticipation of receiving my 28 from Lolos and an 009 PVD coating project with Rolli....been sniffing our decent gen photos http://www.network54.com/Forum/353390/message/1188075691/ Black is back ......if it ever went away that is !! Cheers FGD
  18. The rewards from modding are very satisfying and despite their size - I don't feel they are as "blingy" or "overtly flamboyant" statement as some other watches available......you might as well just wear the gen receipt or your wage slip if you want to shout about how much your worth. I love the fact very few people in daily life notice or comment on the ones I wear. The "hardcore" military heritage and tough functionality really does appeal to me...I like things that are based on imagination and the classic simplicity of the Luminor design is timeless. Just my 2 pence ...one dimensional personal preference I don't disagree , but full of subtle details to have hours and hours of enjoyment with..... Here's why - PAM 236 - Finished at Last - 7753 , Ziggy Lume , Gen Crown , Lello Datewheel....these last couple of mods REALLY lift this piece PAM 118 - Ziggy Lume and Cannon Pin , Gen Crown , Buckle - Aaron Tan Vintage Brown Gator...The crown is AWESOME PAM 092 - Out the box - new CG , Koon Wong Deep Ridge Black Shark .....this strap rocks ...just a Gen CG and a re-lume for this!! Many , many thanks to the Ziggster ..words cannot accurately describe the craftsmanship he delivers.....Kruzer for the Gen Crown ....the best group buy I have ever done...and another member I shall not name ( but feel free to jump in) ...for the magic that allows the Gen crown to fit the Ti case. Thanks and enjoy FGD
  19. 100% Asian Clone 6497- with adhesive foil engraved bridges and 2 screws on the plate The 1 screw version is the bastardized quasi "Swasian" ...where yours is 100% Oriental !! Cheers FGD
  20. I know ...bought a bit from there in the past - 50/50 good bad deals.......got badly burnt on a PAM 196 Daylight that had as much Swiss in it as I do...!! Your movement is much better than the one in the new Ioffer post...this is the bastardized "SwAsian" version with generally inferior moving parts - worth probably no more than $100...being generous. Your's is ETA Swiss and probaby worth $150-$180 I'd suggest....much nicer looking bridges on yours . Geat watch BTW! FGD
  21. You did OK ..your movement looks like a genuine ETA with Asian bridges - notices the 2 screws on the plate beneath the balance wheel and the shock protection on the balance is Standard ETA Kif - solid ring enclosure and the "clover" leaf jewel mount. Bridges look quite tidy as well.....nice watch that a re-lume wouldn't hurt if you can be a*sed...!! All the best FGD
  22. Cheers Babola......you do sum it up more articulately and knowledgably....... removing 4th wheel gears.....oh yeah ...that would work !!???!
