  1. Maybe I should try and carve out a new career as a White Tac dealer
  2. I don't have much choice in what I can wear, but, that's not to say I'm without options... I just removed the bezel clicker/spring for that proper vintage bi-directional action (well, without the 'push and twist' action )
  3. This is the stuff I've never really used it myself, but, I just googled it for the link, and noticed that it's marketed as non-staining
  4. Thanks for the clarification, I was just asking out of curiosity rather than necessity There's also a White Tac available... would this also have more oils than Rodico? At least this explains why the posters I put up with Blu Tac years ago wound up with oil stains at the corners
  5. Personally, I don't think it is, and have always been satisfied with the time keeping of the Asian movements
  6. Is Rodico in any way similar to the product sold as Blu-Tac?
  7. I looked into buying a Submariner a few years ago, but felt that the watch wasn't worth the asking price, so I started looking at fakes online and ordered one (for about $800) I was happy with it as a watch, but didn't feel 100% comfortable wearing a Rolex in my late twenties, and started looking at Omega reps as a replacement. I eventually sold the Sub to pay for costs for my wedding. I can't say I regret selling it, as the money it bought in went to a good cause, and, the person who bought it confirmed that it did indeed have a Swiss movement in it, so at least I know that, although I got over-charged by the 'scam site', I at least got what I paid for (and for less than a gen Sub would have cost)
  8. That's an interesting possibility It's a very cool effect, one I would never have expected
  9. That's an awesome review Something I must say though, and this seriously surprised me... The orange markers glow blue??!! WTF?!?! That has seriously confused me, as I would have expected it to have been an orange glow. Not that that's meant as a negative point, quite the reverse in fact, but it's something I would never have expected. Out of curiosity, how do you find the clasp in terms of security? I really like how it looks, but I'm wondering if it would be possible for the clasp to be accidentally opened if it knocked against something, where the oyster clasps have the security retainer on top of the clasp... Other than those curiosities, all I can say is what an awesome watch
  10. Hmmm I'm not so keen on the Tudor dial with the metal surrounds on the indices... I guess my tastes are more vintage than I realized
  11. That really is a fantastic project, bro, kudos indeed
  12. I'm not sure if it would be of any use, but I definitely have a bezel I'd be happy to donate (the one I installed on my project sub then removed ) Of course, once I have the cash to get my main projects underway, I'll have even more spares which I'd be happy to donate as well
  13. Now that is nice Real aging rather than vintaging?
  14. That's looking really nice, bro
  15. That's true, I guess it certainly is a very minimalist design I think if I were to acquire one, I'd only use it as an 'occasional/formal wear' watch, as the last time I had a watch without indices, I found it quite awkward to use for time-keeping, as I prefer the 'reference points' of the indices, a bit like I'm not too keen on the GMT PAMs which don't actually feature the 24 hour markings. I guess I still need the basics, rather than the more 'advanced user' features On another note, even though I reversed the modification and re-installed the original bezel, I'm really pleased with the actual procedure itself, as the bezel came off with just a twist from a pocket knife. Probably too tight to pull off with bare fingertips, but certainly not a removal which could result in damage to the case, bezel or the click-spring going flying Mission accomplished :
  16. The Mystery's a fantastic looking watch I often wonder how it might look with indices laser-etched into the underside of the crystal
  17. The abuse modification of my project sub continues Those of a delicate nature might like to look away now [Edit to add] Since making this post, I've removed the bezel and re-installed the original, as I felt it was starting to look 'too modern'. Really need to get myself a nice MY coin-edge bezel
  18. The watch on my wrist, my project sub, was inactive for at least a year, but keeps excellent time I don't think I can give any better advice than what Freddy has already said, other than to add not to be unduly concerned
  19. I'm really pleased to see positive reports starting to filter through
  20. That's a fantastic review, thanks for taking the time to put it all together The MMD is certainly a captivating watch. If there was a decent rep made, I might be tempted to get one
  21. I really wouldn't like to say for sure... Ceramic is often used due to it's 'anti-scuff' properties... Any attempts to scuff it might just cause it to shatter... Best of luck though
  22. Looking at the pearl, it looks like the glass over the lume has been cracked. Might this be an aftermarket bezel insert?
  23. "This is, like, the lowest depth oriented watch you can get..." Perfect should a pilot wearing a pilots watch have to ditch in the ocean then Did anyone else notice that the bracelet was on backwards?
  24. I wouldn't like to comment about the crown, but the dial could certainly be fixed to the movement with 'dial dots' (or tiny bits of double-sided tape, for those who prefere 'barnyard engineering' ) As you've got the parts, you'll probably only be looking at a fee based on an hourly rate Best of luck with your project
