I may be wrong, but I believe Rolex did make 16800's with the white gold markers and the matte dial, I'm sure I've seen reference images of such watches from a simple google search

I mean sure, there aren't any serial numbers between the lugs, the sticker on the back reads 11610 ( ) and of course, the engravings on the clasp leaves are gibberish, but those're things which really only matter if the watch is to come off the wrist and to be handed over for inspection (ie passed off as gen) under 'regular observation', it looks the business, and I can't fault it Likewise, I miss doing business with Tony, since he left CQout and began WatchEden, circumstances have prevented me having the cash to buy from him, which is frustrating, but such is life

The only issue I've had with regards water resistance, was after I'd had the watch a while, and decided to re-set the crystal, which was offset by 1 degree clockwise. I suspect that in addition to the gasket seal, there was an additional epoxy seal (which I would have broken popping the crystal ) but once I ran a bead of superglue round the gasket before finally re-setting the crystal, the watch is once more water resistant Sure, I'm not going to say that the watch I've shown is in the same league as a TC sub, but for the cost, I can't fault it, and it's certainly a good way of 'test-driving' the watch before deciding to upgrade (or in my case, convert to a 16800... ) and I've worn mine without challenge. Sure, an AD/pawnshop would know, but 'the man on the street' wouldn't have a clue, apart from the suspicious brandname

My experiences with Silix a few years back were not good: Poor QC, ie items sent out which were missing screws etc, and a missing jubilee bracelet is still probably floating around the world somewhere... But, I recently saw the budget 1665 on offer, and am going to let bygones be bygones to pull the trigger on one when funds allow [Edit to add] The only reason I'm prepared to do so, is because I haven't seen a 1665 at under $100 anywhere else...

Given the above comments, then a Submariner should fit your needs perfectly I would equally advise against buying the TC sub outright just in case, but, if you literally just want to give the watch a try, for this price, I'd highly recommend this watch and seller. That is the risk you run when wearing a watch with the R Word on the dial The best way to minimize that, is to increase the plausibility of the watch, and the likelihood of owning the real thing, such as a simple DateJust, or a vintage model, which could have been inherited rather than purchassed (this will also mean artificially aging the watch, in addition to it being a vintage model) Another method, would be to go for a Tudor (any Tudor) Tudor equalls all the appearance and design of Rolex, but without the alarm-bell brandname, so they just fly beneath the radar As for quartz Rolexes... One of the favorites in my collection is a plastic Submariner, which I fitted with a Rolex dial for a cheap laugh: Anyone seeing it will likely ignore it completely, and anyone seeing it close up will immediately know it's fake, but, it keeps spot on accurate time, and the quartz movement won't be affected by the magnetic field of a tattoo machine as a mechanical movement could be The watch you've linked to looks nice, and although I don't know of any specific reviews for it, if you seach in the Rolex section, you may find a review

If you want to be able to pass it off as the real thing, you're going to have to spend more than $200... I'd also suggest going for an Omega Seamaster rather than a Rolex Submariner, simply because people don't expect them to be fake, where even a genuine Rolex can get the "Is that a real Rolex?" question. In all honesty though, the chances of someone asking or even noticing what you're wearing is so slim, it's really not worth worrying about

If you want to avoid 'looking flashy', I would advise you to avoid the following watches: Any DateJust with a fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet, the Yacht-Master, the GMTII Ceramic, the latest Ceramic Submariners, and just to be safe, the Deep Sea Sea-Dweller. A flat-bezelled DateJust can be a fantastic 'everyday' watch, especially if with a white or black dial. Other than that, it depends what functions will be useful to you. The 1680 or 16610 Submariners make great watches for everyday use, but not the best with suits, where if you wanted to be able to track a second timezone, it might be worth looking at the GMT Master range Best of luck with your search
