I am advised by one of the sellers of this watch that it is a screw down crown. The power reserve indicator is indeed fixed and will not move, at all. TimeShare

I noticed that the Raymond Weil Nabucco Chronograph is no longer on Joshua's or Andrew's web pages. It was on both sites (without a price) and now it has disappeared on both wen pages? Wonder what is up - price?, lack of demand?, or QC issues? TimeShare

First Impressions - Tag Heuer Grand Carrera
TmeShare replied to TmeShare's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
My thinking is that the Cotes de Geneve (wave effect) bezels around the roating dials are so prominate that the eye will naturally be drawn to these rather than the jerky constant seconds rotating dial on a casual glance. I agree that if anyone studies the watch and dial they will see the jerky rotating dial. Also, keep in mind that the rotating dials are sunk much like the date on many 7750 movement watches. Having said that, I have been wearing the watch constantly since I received it and constant seconds rotating dial appears to be getting smoother but still no where near the real one. TimeShare -
I received my black dial Tag Heuer Grand Carrera yesterday and thought I would share some specs and impressions: First the specs I was looking for when I bought the watch: It is a 21K low beat 7750 movement. It takes a 22mm strap. Important if you want to switch the bracelet to a strap, especially if you want to use a genuine Monaco strap (deployment or otherwise) as it is 22mm and thus will fit this watch. Case thickness - I know much has been made of this but having tried the real thing and the replica I have not noticed the 3mm difference. Now for my overall impressions: Overall, the dial, case and bracelet are 1st rate and look and feel like the real one. This adds to the first overall impressions of the watch and I think the average person who knows about the watch will believe that this is a Grand Carrera. The black dial is very accurate and in comparison with looking at the real one (not side by side, hard to do at an AD) and looking at pictures of the real one, the spacing of the lettering on the dial is almost dead-on to the actual watch. The Cotes de Geneve effect on the rotating dial window bezels is very good and when the watch is angled to the light it reflect the light, identical to the real watch. The crystal has a good AD coating but with a slight blueish tint. The bracelet links are accurate and the watch link are removed with the typical Tag Heuer pin and sleeve system that has been discussed numerous times on this forum. Although, the pins seem to come out easier on the Grand Carrera compared to the regular Carrera bracelet that I own. Probably the only item on this watch which identifies the watch as a replica is the rotating subdial (the constant seconds at 3). As identified by other purchasers already on this forum, the dial is somewhat jerky and not as smooth sweeping as the real watch. I suspect that the Grand Carrera has the same movement as the Tag Heuer SLR rep. as the constant second hand is jerky on that replica also, but I think the jerky movement on the rotating dial is more noticeable. Having said that, the SLR has performed fine and I have not had any issues. I am certain that both the SLR and Grand Carrera do not use the movement that was in the Breitling GT(?) a while back, which received rave reviews. So time for the real test, would I buy the watch again? Yes, as mentioned above the thickness of the case isn't as big of an issue as many believe and the overall impression of the total watch is VERY GOOD. The only item that will give the watch away is the rotating dials jerky behavior but someone has to look at the watch for more than a passing glance to see this item. Summary, love the watch and am already wondering what this watch would look like on a Monaco deploy strap. Also, I hear the white dial Grand Carrera calling me!! TimeShare

I think this watch uses the same 21K movement as the Tag Heuer SLR with running seconds at 3. My SLR does NOT have a smooth second hand and the constant second is NOT smooth either. The watch runs fine and I have not had any troubles but the sweeping (hand or constant seconds) is jerky. TimeShare

Has anyone received a Grand Carrera from any seller?
TmeShare replied to TmeShare's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
I don't think either of the replicas in this post are the Asian 7750 models. They appear to be asian automatics with a constant sweeping large second hands. Has anyone received the Asian 7750 Grand Carrera? TimeShare -
Just wondering if anyone has actually received a Tag Heuer Grand Carrera from any seller? Things have been very quiet on this watch lately? TimeShare

I got mine from Andrew and was amazed at how fast it was shipped. No issues with the watch and I am very glad I ordered it (I debated with myself whether this was just a GMT with a green GMT hand but overall the watch is quite striking, different than the regular GMT and I love the new bezel). No quality issues on mine, everything is as it should be with the watch. TimeShare

GMT II Ceramic - Bezel Numbers Silver or White?
TmeShare replied to TmeShare's topic in The Rolex Area
Thanks geo1nah2a for the clarification and picture. Sounds like mine is correct. TimeShare -
I got the Rolex GMT II Ceramic bezel watch last week and like all the posts I was/am very impressed with the watch. However, In looking at pictures on the Board and photos of the OEM I am wondering what color the numbers on the bezel are. On my watch they seem very silver in color but on the photos I see they look white. Is this the flash or a different batch of bezels? What color are the real ceramic bezel numbers? TimeShare

Honest Opinion Requested. TAG Aquaracer Stainless/Rubber?
TmeShare replied to Daytona4me's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
I had the same problem with this watch. In my case the bracelet clasp was broken (one of the stems) and the seller had stopped selling (Eddie) so I could not get a replacement. I tried the rubber and did not like it either. I also tried a blue sharkskin strap with white stitching that was darker (the too light of a color did not work) and it was not easy to find a strap as it is 21mm but that did not look right either. My solution was to order just the bracelet from Joshua, it is by far the best look for the watch. TimeShare -
Vey nice. I think the DW looks very good. How is the rubber strap is it a harder rubber (like the AP ROO and Oris) or a softer rubber that attracts dust? Despite ordering mine 1 week ago I just got the tracking number so my wait continues. TimeShare

I have this watch also and like the other posts I also put on the Invicta replacement strap. Watch has operated fine and the gold plating has lasted very well. It has the Miyolta movement which is very reliable japan made movement. The illumination is so-so but for $100 it is a good value. I paid substantially more than $100. TimeShare

Anyone get the SLR yet? Review and Pictures?
TmeShare replied to TmeShare's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
[Which one of you guys is going to step up here, and help us get a great review? I don't think it will be me. My seller tells me mine has not shipped yet and I will not have a tracking number till the weekend.................. TimeShare -
I have the SLR on order but would love to know whether anyone else has received the watch and their impressions of such items as the rubber strap (is it s dust collector), the clasp and the quality of assembly? TimeShare
-
I use to always regularly service my watches, but now my approach is that if it is not broken don't fix it. I think it depends how often you wear a particular watch as to how soon it needs to be serviced. I have actually sent watches that were working fine, away to be serviced and had them come back with issues I never had when I sent them away!! If it ain't broke, don't fix it. TimeShare

When the Panerai aftermarket bracelets came out (with one push button) there were versions that where a mix of titanium and steel. I have a couple of them and the weight difference between these ti/steel bracelets and the all steel bracelets confirms that they are 1/2 titanium. I have asked a few sellers and they have advised me that these ture ti/steel bracelets are not available anymore. Does anyone know a source that still sells the ti/steel panerai bracelets? Thx TimeShare

In researching the Oris Carlos Coste Chronograph Limited Edition, It appears that it actually only is sold on a bracelet not a rubber strap. I have found web posts with the entire package that the watch is sold with and there is no rubber strap option. In other words, any one with the rep, which only comes on a rubber strap, is clearly identifying that it is not OEM. TimeShare

For sure it is 22mm at the case and 18mm at the buckle end. I have a real IWC strap and that is the measurement. If you are looking for a reasonable priced Big pilot like strap try www.strapluxe.com I bought a few from them and for the price they are very well constructed (better than the real IWC). TimeShare

Canada Post will possibly send back parcels for 3 reasons; 1) the address of the receiver is wrong, especially the postal code 2) there is not proper senders address or it is in another language other than english/french and 3) there is no proper declaration on the package or it is in the wrong languages (they have a choice to open it and guess but they do not have to). For ease, ask that all addresses be complete and in english and have some sort of declaration of value and contents. Also it looks like it is all the same Customs office so they must have decided to handle things the same way (there are only 3 Customs locations for Canada Post mail - Vancouver, Missis., Montreal) TimeShare

One of the most rare reps that I wish I had bought would be a Tag Heuer Monaco - 2 subdial in the form of the 1st Tag Heuer re-release of the Monaco. It was was sold by an Italian rep seller called Buywac and used a hand wind movement. Don't believe the seller exists anymore and I have only seen the watch on 2 web sites. TimeShare

Passed to Customs - anything to worry about?
TmeShare replied to paranoid's topic in General Discussion
Reminds me of the old saying "it is only paranoia if you are wrong"!!! TimeShare -
I have 2 watches with this movement - both are IWC Portugese. The black dial/white subdials stopped running until the 6 o'clock subdial constant second was disabled and the other Prada version (silver dial/black subdials) runs fine for now but it is not enjoyable wearing the watch as I know it will EVENTUALLY act up. I know all mechanical watches will eventually have problems/need servicing but some are more eventual than others!! TimeShare
