  1. Sounds possibly like the mainspring is dirty, old and the oil has hardened to the point it's impeding the action of the spring. Either that or you could have worn/damaged/dirty pivots/jewels. A service would be what's really called for as the ETA movements found in the "Swiss" movement reps are not new but are in fact very old and often dirty and in dire need of a complete overhaul. Asian movements are new but often poorly oiled which can lead to problems and again a service would cure that giving you effectively a watch that'll work well for several years to come. Rolexman is great however he's based in the Netherlands and he has a waiting list. You could PM him to find out how soon he could service your watch.
  2. Exceptionally nice and glossy finish. Gives the strap a somewhat warmer appearance. Thanks for the tip AJ, I'll need to try that on my non-porous leathers.
  3. No change. Still sporting the 372
  4. +1. That would also be my suggestion.
  5. Wow! Now that's a strap! The packaging alone is enough to impress almost anyone but then when you look at the strap itself you can see the craftsmanship. It embues quality and completes the already very fine watch to create an absolute head-turner. Very good choice there AJ, think I might just have to get one soon for myself.
  6. Amazing achievement Sixx! Honoured to have a Guinness World Record Holder among us. You truly are a far, far braver man than I.
  7. My 372 was sent via DHL by Trusty just last week. It was dispatched on the Monday and I'd received it by Friday. The tracking info however didn't become active until Wednesday afternoon (I received a text from DHL to let me know the package was on it's way and they gave me a link to track it). Keeping my fingers crossed for you that this time all goes by without a hitch.
  8. Going for a hat-trick with the third consecutive day for the 372
  9. Trusty, Trevor, Angus and Toro all have pretty much the same stock with a few exceptions. You can't go wrong with any of them. The IWC 3799 is pretty much a "super-rep"; http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30_191&products_id=10898
  10. I take them all off in one go as well using the levers. To be honest, I've never actually tried taking the hands off individually. I'd be too afraid of bending one of the hands.
  11. Hi David, The A7750 movement found in the Pam237 is a great movement however I've found it can have it's fair share of issues. One possibility could be a loose screw jamming up the gear train or perhaps something's slightly out of alignment and when the watch is moved it stops working pretty quickly. I'd recommend getting the watch looked at and possibly even serviced. These movements are generally not oiled well/properly (too much in some places and too little in others, not to mention the wrong type of oil used) so a service would put all that right. There are a few people on this forum who service movements. I'd suggest contacting them to see what their schedules are like (they're very busy and work on a pre-book basis).
  12. It's a horrible and frustrating feeling when things like that happen. One quick question; are you using a sheet of plastic (like a ziploc bag) over the dial before using the levers? I made my own hand-removing levers from a rod of silver-steel and although they are fairly crude, using the ziploc food bag had helped me avoid marking the dial (so far!) Thanks for the tip Rolexman, this will prove to be very useful.
  13. Beautiful watch and stunning pictures! Especially love how the panda dial goes with the NATO strap.
  14. Thanks Marti. Really liking it and I think it might just be my new favourite (until I get the Marlin Fiddy!). Love the 104! Was looking at getting one myself.
  15. Absolutely hilarious! Looks like they've even teased up the hair around the neck of the dog to make it look more like a mane. The first lion to lick someone's face rather than attack not to mention it pee's all wrong. Gotta love their ingenuity but can't imagine this fooling anyone unless the visitors to the zoo don't know what a lion should look like.
  16. I feel really bad for you mate. It's rotten luck to have so many issues with the watch. I agree that some flexibility from the dealers would be nice but from what I've seen they always want the watch back if there's anything major wrong with it and they don't do exceptions. If its a relatively small issue like a bezel pearl that's fallen out or similar then Josh/Andrew happily post out another one however if it's a movement issue or similar then they want the watch back to fix themselves. My PO is currently away getting serviced and the ETA in that was also very old and very dirty. So much so that I was surprised it was even working! I would rather have the same watch with a Sellita movement or similar but alas that's not offered (yet). I would agree with fraggle42; the most cost-effective, quickest and simplest fix would be to pop an Asian movement in and then you'll have a watch that'll run great (hopefully) for years. You'll still resent the problems the watch gave you but at least it will work as intended and be in working order in time for your father's birthday. No option currently available is ideal however I think the movement swap may be the easiest to stomach financially. I hope it all works out for you mate.
  17. The Black Croc works really well with the dial. The watch looks amazing. @mikeonabike - Yeah, love those older movements. One possible change though it's a fair bit of work, we could file off the original lugs from this case and weld on some new lugs at the 12 & 6 positions. Definitely a lot of work but the watch would look superb once done.
  18. Certainly a quirky dial! I've always like unique timepieces and this certainly unique. The eight day power reserve is wonderful, and I wish many of the Miyota, Sellita, Seagull etc movements had larger power reserves. I think it's about time the typical watch be it an entry-level gen (circa. $2k level) or super-rep had 4/5/6 day power reserves.
  19. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd have much of a chance even if I was 20 years younger!
  20. Who says U-Boats can't be worn whilst duelling?
  21. I agree with markiemark. The strap has that glossy slightly plasticky look. I would get an aftermarket strap from Devilseam. He has some cracking designs with very high quality soft and supple leathers and great hand stitching. His prices are very reasonable as well. I bought an RWG one from him previously which looks great and I've ordered another strap from him for the 372 that I ordered from Trusty.
