Very nice pictures and a a great build. Love the look of the Radomir case with the Rolex dial. A huge amount of time and work however the end result sure does look worth it!

Perhaps the shorter hairspring from a 2801 movement? Since parts for the 2846 movements are slightly more difficult to get a hold of, someone who did a service on the movement could have used the shorter hairspring from the 28,800bph 2801. I may also be talking complete rubbish so please excuse my post if I'm saying something that isn't even possible.

These are useful forums, thanks Woof.

That field seems perfect for the levels of magnification. It's the best of both worlds. Gosh, yes. I too have a daily struggle to keep my working desk clear of bits-and-bobs! The moveable boom was a great idea, it may have been pricey but then the practicality of being able to easily swing it out of the way when desired makes the cost worth it. As for a camera adaptor, I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for but I've read that they work wonderfully. It's a Bresser Digital Microscope. Bresser are a good quality German firm and their basic model only costs £40. It's feels a little cheap and plasticky however it takes pictures and videos up to 30 seconds long.

I found an article discussing Stereo Microscopes and this one by Brunel received a favourable write-up. The link to the stereo microscope is: http://www.brunelmicroscopes.co.uk/stereomicroscopes.html

I was browsing this month's BHI Journal during a little lunch break and noticed this recruitment advertisement from Patek Philippe. I'm sorely tempted to apply and I certainly have the desire however I'm not sure I'd be up to Patek's exceptionally high standards.

So what's the favorite watch you own/owned?

Mine would be the 359. I just love the simplicity and elegance of the dial and case. Coupled with the endless changeability of the overall look via the straps makes it a watch for the office and the driving range. -
Thanks for the info Woof. $300 is actually fairly reasonable. So much so I think I might just have a look at them.

Now that's one nice looking microscope but $1,800!!! Yikes! As good as it would be to have one of them I'll have to stick with my £15 Bergeon Double Lens for now.

I was wondering the same thing. Looks pretty nifty.

Looks very nice. Good work there, especially considering this was your first attempt.

Thank you Gran, I appreciate the kind words.

I believe the Bergeon mats as well as A&F amongst others are anti-static as standard. Static isn't such an issue with mechanical watches as it is with computers. Magnetism is the big thing but that doesn't come into play for mats.

I polyurethaned my bench to give it a nice clean and smooth finish then got a Bergeon watchmakers rubber mat to use as the watchmaking surface itself. The advantage of the rubber mat is that it provides a little bit of protection to any part that gets accidentally dropped and there's also less chance of any dropped part bouncing away into neverland. This is the mat I used; Bergeon 2746: https://www.cousinsuk.com/catalog/tools/mats

I agree with Freddy; a service would be beneficial both to get the watch working and over the long run. The A7750 is a workhorse of a movement however it generally requires a complete service first thanks to the shoddy QC in the assembly of the movement. Another possibility could either be a screw stuck somewhere in the gear train or something has popped out of alignment. In one of my A7750's, I had a case screw that had managed to find its way in to movement and jammed up the works.

I'm glad to hear of another quality alternative to ETA. The A10 may be pricey but I feel a greater choice of good quality Swiss movements can only be a good thing. The 9015 is a very reasonable price here in the UK, coming in at £65 from Cousins. So £176 for the A10 does seem a little high but then if you know you're getting a high quality Swiss movement that doesn't require servicing for several years (unlike the used ETA's we get now) then the premium could be worth it. It looks to be even better value when compared with a pre-sealed 2892 which is coming in at fairly steep £240 here in the UK. Over £60 more than the A10 and arguably inferior.

Good man! Yeah, our wives are after our blood but then they have their endless shoe and bag purchases to justify.
