  1. I paid 60 bucks for the super dome on my MBW. Think it is the T39. Both this and the crystal on my PT SD are similar.
  2. Put it this way I am a watch nut and have had or have most all the various Rolex reps. I never bought a 7750 Daytona. The latest vintage Daytonas are nice...well made, good movement. Just choose the specific ones that have a better closer to gen dial.
  3. I just received a PT 1665 double red. I am impressed with what I got for the money. Out of the box it's several steps ahead of MBW. Nice end links perfectly fit, nice gen like pearl, dial although not perfect does have blood red lettering more similar to gen, lug holes drilled to correct size with correct size spring bars. On the negative side Crystal is not seated properly, bezel moves freely so possibly no compression ring, some dates don't switch over correctly, crown too big, CG need significant trimming. I have one question.....when I compare the Clark super dome on my MBW vs the stock PT I really don't see much of a difference. I read that the crystal is poor on this watch but just don't see it. Am I missing something?
  4. And buy the black dial version without the green tinted crystal. Nearly perfect rep.
  5. The 703 crown sits too high....the 702 is more squat in appearance....correct?
  6. I just ordered a PT DRSD. I plan on sending it to Pbdad for mods. I don't have the funds to spend to mod it fully but here is what I am thinking.. Trim CG Install correct tube and crown Redrill lug holes and install correct spring bars if not already correct I figure I can get the other work done in the future. One question I have is......the correct crown should be a 702. However I can't find one aftermarket and a gen costs 400 bucks! Does anyone have a good source for a good aftermarket 702? Thanks.
  7. My Bond sub fully modded by Pbdad looks great....he drilled the lug holes perfectly so the spring bar tips pop from the holes, aged the insert and dial....eliminating the bright yellow color of the markers, shaved down the crystal so it's like the gen, added a Ofrei pearl, correct size tube and crown and correct size spring bars. The case however is not waterproof I assume because of shaving the crystal. The problem I have though is the case is wrong from the start.....it's a modern style sub case so it's too thick but it's lugs are also not straight enough so on the wrist the lugs look too short vs a gen 6328.
  8. Problem is how do you remove one set of end links and add another? There is a tutorial concerning this but it's not for just anyone to do.....not easy!
  9. I bought a Pam 187 recently and although I love the look I find its too big for my wrist. Looking to sell it..perfect in every way.
  10. The pearl looks OK to me. I have an Ofrie pearl that I put on a PMW insert. The PT pearl looks similar but in aged form. Is there something I am missing? I heard that the PT dials especially # 2, 3 and 4 are pretty good aside from the very yellow markers. I am hoping that Pb has a way to lighten them up a bit so they look creamy rather than bright sun yellow. Pb has already mentioned to me about installing a new crystal so I assume he is aware of what it takes to make it fit. (in fact he does since he said he has already modded quite a few PT 1665 watches already) So here is my list so far: New crown and tube New crystal assume Clarke Ensure springbar ends POP from lug holes CG shaved down Dial markers lightened if possible or dial changed out Movement serviced Rebrush the lugs to smooth out finish. Thats it?
  11. I am about to buy a PT 1665 DRSD with the dial #4 option (was told by Angus that this dial is most popular). My plan is to send the watch to Pbdad for modding. I dont want the watch aged. Instead I want to have all the mods required to make the watch look as close to the gen as possible without doing any unesessary work. As an example I am told that the tube is already good on this watch and all I need is a gen like crown. So this being the case what other mods should I have done?
  12. The 6542 has CG's. Am I missing something here?
  13. This all being said who sells the most correct to gen 6538 BOND sub case? Certainly Yuki is way off since at the very least the rehaut to not only too wokky but also way way too deep. NDT case is not wokky but is it closer to gen otherwise? I bought a 6538 sub from Joshua for around 200 and has Pb fully mod it for me. Looks pretty good but still the case, especially the curve of the lugs is wrong but it does have a very shallow rehaut. I wear it on a BOND nato.
  14. my question is when you set the time on this movement in which direction the hand are turning. when you set the time on a gen and turn the crown clockwise the hands turning clockwise but in eta reps anticlockwise. if they done this..i am completely satisfied!! HUH? I have many ETA gen and rep watches...when you turn the crown clockwise hands turn clockwise. Same as with the Rolex movements.
  15. I sent the watch back and the dealer told me that he would have the dial replaced. I noticed that the right sub dial hand showed some "play"...zeroing out but then would move to either side a mm or so. I asked for that to be fixed also. I have heard nothing back from the dealer yet. I wore this watch during the heat wave that hit the US recently. I wore it alot outside since I was on vacation several weeks. Many of those days temps went over 100 degrees and of course being outside the watch saw lots of UV. This is why my watch turned gray the quickest that we know of....it was an accelerated weathering test so to speak. I fully expect that all the Pam 187's from this factory will change gray but may take longer under more normal conditions. I hope the factory changed the pigments they are using so my new dial will last. I plan on wearing it the same as I was since it really is the best rep watch I have ever had judging by appearance alone.
  16. Thats my watch. The watch never showed any moisture issues..I wore in to the pool once and other than that stayed out of the water. So the problem has nothing to do with moisture. The month or so I had the watch I spent several weeks on vacation mostly at the beach so the watch saw plently of sunlight. The issue must be caused by heat and or UV light. Certain organic pigments can be very UV sensitive and color can just leave the system over time. I wont reveal the dealer since he has been very helpful in addressing this problem. This watch I am sure comes from one factory so I assume everyone will see this issue at some point in time.
  17. That crown has got to go.
  18. Hel valve will be on the watch as per Andrew.
  19. Nice work....but.......a 6538 needs that BIG CROWN for it to be, or look like, a 6538!
  20. Too perfect and the guys in the black suits from ROLEX come a knocking!
  21. 6538 should have a 8 mm BREVET crown.
  22. Buy bk tw best fully modded and your done
  23. Why would you not just send the watch back???????????? now that the watch has been opened and movement removed/tampered with the odds of Josh taking it back may not be very good.
  24. From everything I have heard from everyone the Yuki case is not the way to go because the rehaut is absolutely horrible...way too woky. You can see it from across the room its so bad. MBW 6538 is just all wrong all the way around and the crown position is too low. I have heard good things about the NDT case sets and from pictures the rehaut looks good. HOWEVER I heard from one of the modders that he has had huge issues fitting a eta movement inside the NDT case. One other point to consider is that all these cases are wrong as compared to the gen since they all lack curved lugs. Personally I went ahead and bought an Andrew big crown sub and sent it to a modder who added a Yuki big crown and tube, aged the dial, recessed the insert, added a Ofrie pearl which he aged, shaved down the crystal which was too high, drilled the lug holes and added 2 mm spring bars and finally lightly softened the case. Result is very nice...case is still wrong but so are all the rest, rehaut is not wokky and I spent a total of 500 bucks. I put the watch on a BOND NATO and all I get are rave reviews.
  25. Dont buy it. The biggest issue and it is a huge tell is the ULTRA thin and wokky rehaut. The only game in town when it comes to Subs is BK. The watch comes fully QCed and modded as much as you would like. He will even add gen parts such as crystal, insert, crown etc. although this costs more...of course.
