  1. Its a well constructed watch. However it has faults as compared with the genuine Submariner..some of which can be fixed while others cant. 1) Cyclops to far to the right. It can be removed by someone who knows what they are doing and then better centered. 2) Crown too large. This can also be removed and replaced with a smaller crown although the tube will also need to be changed. 3) Crappy pearl. This can be popped out and a better one inserted. At the same time the insert should be recessed if needed. 4) CG wrong shape and it looks like cut too short. May or may not be fixable. CG should be a little pointy rather than cut flat on top. 5) Rehaut not straight and too deep....Wokky. Biggest flaw and cant be fixed. 6) Rehaut too thin...Big flaw and cant be fixed. The good news is that 95% of all people you meet will never be able to tell the difference. The watch is very well constructed and very few will ever call it out as fake. Its got the "feel" of a high price watch...not at cheap rep that most would expect. If you are looking for a top rung sub that has none of these defects then wait another month or so and BK will be selling the WM9 sub in its latest version and fully modded. Cost will be 500-550 but it will be the last Sub rep you will ever buy.
  2. I have a new Sharp AQUOS 46 inch flat screen LCD 1080p. The blacks are the best I have ever seen in an LCD set. Jet black and the colors and overall picture quality are really amazing. I see no faults.
  3. My first rep came from a well known "scam" site. I spent 925 for a TT Sub. Now after 4 years buying rep watches I can tell you exactly what this watch is...........its a TW best base sub with a swiss ETA 2836 movement. It has all the faults of the typical TW best......thick CG, bad pearl, not the best dial. However the watch does have a solid gold mid link band. I did not test the crown or bezel but after 4 years they show no signs of wear so perhaps they are solid gold also? The only other major fault are the end links. Gen TT subs have three piece end links with the center part solid gold. This rep has one piece end links where the center portion is plated gold.
  4. I keep asking this question so forgive me.....is there anyone in the states that would be willing to drill the lug holes of my 1665 and 1680 to proper size? I already had installed Clark crystals in both and am waiting on better inserts. Bk has told me he can do the CG....all I now need are the lug holes drilled and I then will have the MAJOR cosmetic issues of these watches overcome. Just want to be sure that when they are done the end links will sit nice and perfect against the case and inbetween the lugs like they are now.
  5. I have been working with Bk and he has done a great job on all my modern subs and SD's. The issue I now face is really simple...or at least it should be.....WHO can I rely upon to drill the lug holes and install correct spring bars into my MBW 1665 and 1680? I have seen pictures of some obsenely bad drill jobs so I want to be sure the person who does this work has done it before and can turn the work around quickly. So far I have found no one. Maybe there should be a specific area where modders can list exactly what they can and cant do to make it easier to located a reliable person. Does anyone have a recommendation?
  6. I cant find anyone who has experience with lug hole drilling that can do this for me. I want to be sure that when its done that the results look genuine. Anyone have someone they can recommend?
  7. Taking a date mag off a sub would be silly. Are there gen subs sitting on wrists right now that dont have mags? Maybe....but I have never seen one. If you want a good no date sub buy the vintage MBW 5512 as I suggested and get it lightly modded. Taking the date mag off your sub will just leave you with one crappy looking rep submariner.
  8. Removing the cyclops is no answer. You would be left with a sub without a date mag which does not exist in the real world. The no date sub has NO DATE. The seadweller has no date mag but ITS A SEA DWELLER and not a Sub. Plus a SD has also a different case and dial. If you want a no date sub buy a MBW no date 5512 vintage white dial from Eurotimz for 400 bucks. A few mods and you will have one incredible piece of wrist art. Your total investment will be around 600 - 650 bucks....watch plus mods.
  9. Is that the latest 5512 from Eurotimz? How were the lug holes when you got it? Correct size?
  10. I would suggest that you buy the latest MBW no date vintage sub (5512) white dial from Eurotimz. The pictures he posted of this watch looked awesome. Lug holes even looked larger and possibly correct in size. (as compared with other MBW that I own) Buy this watch and then have someone trim the CG and install the best quality aftermarket insert/pearl. IF the lug holes are too small get these drilled to correct size and install the correct size spring bars and you are good to go.
  11. I only had one person ask me if my watch was "real". Its a real tacky question to ask so I dont expect many to ask it. I just said....does it look fake? and that ended that. In other words I dont feel you need to walk around exclaiming your watches are real or admit they are NOT real. Of course if you dig ditches for a living and at the same time are wearing 5000 dollar watches that may be a different story. For me however I never have a problem and I never admit to wearing reps nor lie that they are gens.
  12. My experience is that you should never admit to wearing a replica watch. I find that people no matter how seemingly interested immediately put you in a category.....a guy who wears FAKE watches. Those not into our hobby dont understand all the ins and outs of what we do nor the satisfaction we derive from doing what we do. I wear my watches both reps and gens and thats that. If someone admires my watch then great and if they do I keep my mouth shut. I was with a coworker and he brought along his boss. I was wearing a beautiful MBW 1665....hollow mid links, recessed insert....no obvious clues aside from the fact that it looks brand new that it was a rep. The boss looked at my watch and just gushed how nice it was....until I mentioned it was a rep. Immediately his tone changed and he became completely UN interested and just said....."I would never do that". Since that time I just wear my watches and never admit to anyone if they are real or fake.
  13. I have another question.....who can drill the lug holes to correct size and install the proper spring bars? The Zigmeister is not taking any more work the rest of the year. The small holes the MBW come with are the fastest TELL when looking at the watch.
  14. Does the insert sit slightly recessed or even with the bezel lip?
  15. Very nice....so it presses in without mods or glue? Sounds easy!!!!
  16. Will these fit my MBW without mods? If not how much and where do they need to be shaved? Once again its hard to tell from the picture but how close to gen are the pearls? Thanks once again for all your great help!
  17. I have looked at countless web sites but its very tough telling what is what from the pictures. Does anyone know who sells the best insert/pearl combination for these two reps? They are both MBW. I have heard that Ofrei has great pearls but I would like to buy an insert with pearl already installed. Suggestions?
  18. What you do is buy a swiss ETA Euromariner then send it to Bk for a full mod package. He will trim the CG, Install/recess a better insert and attach a nice pearl. Also he can install a better dial if need be. Total investment....around 700 US dollars and you will have a Sub as close to perfect as there is available. IF you can wait I have heard that Bk will be selling a fully modded TOP GRADE Sub sometime in the near future. (better than the NOOB)
  19. V4 above DOES NOT have lugholes. V3 has lugholes. The question is....did they drill these lugholes the correct size and if not why not? Otherwise they would need to be drilled (so the correct size springbars could be added) which is a pain in the a..
  20. WOW....can you provide a round a bout cost for these once available? I would not want gen parts...well actually I would want...just cant afford!!!!! Are we talking hundreds, a thousand or multiple thousands?
  21. I am aware of the 2008 sub that is being offered. However the question is.....where do I get parts? I would need....dial, hands, insert...I would think also the sub bezel assembly since the GMT bezel does not have the 120 clicks of the sub.
  22. I have a swiss CHS ceramic GMT that does not work correctly. Is there a way to convert this watch to a new Sub? Are the parts available? I already have a Swiss 2836 movement that I took out of another watch that I could insert into this case.
  23. The better pictures of this rep tempt me also.....the watch is wrong vs. the gen but looks well constructed. BUT..........take it from a guy with a ton of experience jumping the gun...WAIT FOR THE ULTIMATE VERSION! Timing? I can only venture a guess....end of the year to end of first quarter 2009. Would not surprise me if its ready for the Christmas season.
  24. Bracelet is all wrong. Wait for the Ultimate version.
  25. I have a question...I have both a MBW 1665 GWSD and a MBW 1680 single red. I want some light mods....CG trimmed. WM pearl, better insert recessed, and finally the lug holes drilled to correct size and the correct springbars installed. The Zigmeister is not taking any new jobs, Bk does not do the lug holes (he is also very busy) while another modder had no experience with drilling lug holes. Who else could complete these light mods for me?
