Appologizing in a condesending manner is not much of an appology....is it? I have been collecting for many years also (both gen and reps vintage and modern) and I am aware that the so called MBW are produced as both vintage Subs and SD as well as MODERN subs (as well as other models...not Daytonas however that I have ever seen). As per my second post I asked what the dial/hands and movement of a MBW modern Sub was worth. You choose to reply in a condecending fashion. Then when I pointed out that you were completely wrong in doing so you appologized but in process did your best to throw insults. Those are the facts. That ends this thread for me but fully expect you will respond once again with insults. Thanks for being not only uninformative regarding my question but also insulting for no other reason than the obvious. Also the movement is NOT for sale. Just wanted to understand what it is worth for future reference.

If you look back I asked an honest question and mistakenly left out the word SUB (as in MBW modern sub). I then corrected my mistake in my second post. Everyone should know what a modern MBW Sub is all about. Its not a Daytona nor a YM as the poster was trying to imply. The poster in question for no reason responded in a very condecending manner..for no reason. If you want to take sides then I think it would be a good idea to ask yourself why you would agree with such a condecending person.

No. I dont even have it in my possession right now. I was just curious as to what it was worth.

Its a great watch. Buy it...you will LOVE it.

Appology accepted. Never a need to answer an honest post in a condecending fashion. Where can I buy a MBW Daytona?

Is the MBW 5512 the best rep example of this watch?
-
I see that Eurotimz is offering at 5512. How is this vintage watch as a rep as compared with the gen? Is it as good a rep as a GWSD? What is the difference between a 5512 and a 5513?
-
MOST should know that "modern MBW" typically means we are talking about a modern sub. So what I have is the guts of the watch....dial/hands/movement. (swiss eta 2836).
-
Its a modern MBW dial/hands/movement. Around 2 years old but saw limited wrist time.
-
How much is a MBW dial, hands attached to a relativly new swiss eta 2836 worth?
-
I tried to resist but in the end I bought one last night. I got a message from Andrew that the first batch was all gone but a second will be available in a few days. I will let everyone know what I think about the watch once it arrives.

No matter how many times a dealer says any watch is 1:1..it never is. When you hear this it just means that its pretty close to gen. In THIS case they are correct. This watch is pretty close to the real thing. NOT perfect but they never are.

The big question is.....do we buy this rep NOW or wait until all the bugs are worked out? I think I am waiting although its going to be tough doing so. The other side of the coin is that I am spending big bucks getting all my present subs and SSD modded. Dont have the $ to spend right now!

Yes..I bought the very first MBW z series from TTK. Rehaut engraving does not stick out like a sore thumb as it looked like in the initial pictures.
-
I think we are being way way too critical. The pics from Joshes site are terrible..black and white and blurry that show NONE of this reps sheen and we are comparing these against perfect color pics of the gen. I say it looks fantastic at this stage. The only real fault may be that the numbers on the insert are a bit thick but I will bet you that once we see color PERFECT pictures this difference will not be as pronounced. If you remember the very first pics of the z series sub with the engraved rehaut it looked terrible...just jumped out at you. In actuality though the engraving on the rehaut is not very noticable at all. I think in the end the faults we are seeing on this watch now will be minimal in real life.
-
I was told that this watch will not have a ceramic insert but instead it will be PVD. I was also told that the two are indistinguishable.

I started buying reps 3 years ago. I now have over 20 of them....mostly ETA and Asian 7750. ALL work like a charm telling very good time. Three years ago when you paid for a swiss ETA generally that is what you got. Today I am not quite sure since ETA movements are drying up in terms of availability. With many watches coming with asian clones or used/dirty ETA'a I am sure reps will not be as long lasting. I am trying to stick with Asian 7750 movements now since at least you know what you are getting. Also this movement sems to be a pretty good one that could last many years out of the box.

Looking for recommendations for vintage rollie
perry563 replied to omegaunit's topic in The Rolex Area
I have both a MBW 1680 and 1665. The 1665 is by far the more substantial and believable rep. As proof to this I wore my 1680 on a business trip a while back and only received a lukewarm response from my watch fanatic co worker. A few weeks later I wore my 1665 and that same co worker could not believe the quality. He threatened to put it on his wrist and not give it back! They are both great watches but the 1665 has more heft and weight while lends to its believability as a rep. -
Bk sells a beautiful crown and tube for around 30 bucks that he had specially made to fit the NOOB.

Do you think Rolex is stuck design-wise?
perry563 replied to crystalcranium's topic in The Rolex Area
Everything needs to change to keep up with the ever changing tastes of the buying public. So Rolex like everything else alters their product but at the same time tries to kep the traditional overall look intact. The alternative is to stagnate and eventually lose sales and in the long run put the entire company in peril. I agree that the new additions appear to be too much of a change from the traditional models. An interesting question would be........keeping the above as true then what could have Rolex done differently to introduce new updated models but at the same time keep tradition intact? -
You paid for swiss eta. Thats NOT swiss ETA! Send it back and ask why you were scammed.

I have a quick question concerning two gen Omega watches I have in my possession. 1) From around the year 2000 a Omega Seamaster professional automatic (non chrono). It has the classic blue dial, stainless, date etc. Its a mans mid size. I bought it new and have all the boxes etc. Aside from a very very light scratch here and there is 100%. It was very carefully and rarely worn. 2) From around 1960 a 14k Omega/Tiffany Seamaster Deville day/date. All original with black leather Omega band. Again in just about perfect condition aside from very slight aging of the dial (very slight). Any idea what these are worth?

Yes..but you will not get the level of QC that you would recieve from TTK or BK. Trust me and spend the extra bucks for a Bk Mariner. 360 bucks, fully modded and you will have a prize you will wear for decades.
