I agree. All the dealers know a good rep vs a bad one. Maybe us geeks should have separate web sites that cater to only the very high end reps. The current web sites cater to a mass market.

1:1 SD 16600 - Has anyone received one as shown in QC pics yet!
perry563 replied to watcher's topic in The Rolex Area
After all these years and the obvious ability of the china watch makers to make super reps why can't they get this right? There Should be no reason to have a wokky rehaut or even wrong CG's. -
I felt that way too. I was all Rollie...I have them all MBW, TW, Noob, BkWM9 etc. Now I'm all Pam. Just a more impressive, eye catching watch IMO.
-
Has anyone heard what new models will be coming out early 2012?
-
Wash the watch separate from the bath. This way you can better control where the water is going. End result is both you and the watch are clean.
-
Never bathe with any watch! Why do you need to tell time while soaping up? The 305 is a first generation model from this maker so don't buy it! It's full of stupid QC issues that have no place for a 300 buck plus watch. The 187 is a solid watch with very gen like wrist presence. Either wait for a v2 305 or if impatient buy the 187.

If you end up offering a complete finished bracelet including these end links put me down for at least one. Incredible work here.

Puretime 1665 Comex Sea Dweller......What's wrong with the dial?
perry563 replied to duke1973's topic in The Rolex Area
This is not the better series of vintage reps Angus has for sale. Note that pearl. The better versions have a gen like pearl ala ofrie type. However my experience with the better versions has not been a good one. it's overall more accurate but QC issues abound. -
Will the hands that come with the v1 fit onto that movement?

Please help with choosing 360 version & movement swap
perry563 replied to lfovco's topic in The Panerai Area
You can't really go wrong with either watch. The better movement in the v2 pushes me in it's direction. I was going to wait on a v3 but was told it will be a long time coming. -
The v1 case is more curved....quite noticeably so. The v2 has a squarer more close to gen appearance. Strap also is better with the v2. Also like the case back much more with the v2. Both have pluses and minuses but after great consideration I'm going with the V2. Many pics of the gen under different lighting I presume show a more yellow/orange appearance.

Actually not that much difference in case color in daylight conditions. If you look at the gen it also can appear pretty dark in color in some pics. Case shape with the v1 is wrong and you can't change that. Also the v2 has the better movement and strap. Biggest issue with the V2 is the lume color but as mentioned you can always swap in a Davidsen dial with all the bells and whistles if need be in the future. -
Yes but the case, movement and strap are better with the v2. Dial can always be replaced or relumed in the future if need be. I'm buying the v2.

I'm getting the v2.....case shape is much better than v1 as is movement and strap. Can always get a Davidsen dial in the future if need be. -

The v2 contains the better movement and no it's not crap at all. No need to swap out the movement at all. V2 is better except the following Case is a bit darker in color. I think no big deal. Dial lume is a bit on the orange side but v1 is a bit on the light side. Big plus for the v2 is that the case is shaped closer to gen, it has the better movement and it seems to have a better strap. I will be ordering the v2 myself in short order. -
Who is making the best DSSD replica right now?
perry563 replied to frankbullitt's topic in The Rolex Area
I have the Eurotimz V5. Love the tight end link fit, thin, gen like, dial marker rims, crystal that sits just right over the insert, crown and CG, overall fit and finish. It's now with Pb getting an insert paint mod and pearl mod as well as a bracelet buffing/polishing. The only negatives I see are: Typical crystal distortion true of all dssd's Metal used does not have the brightness of other 316L watches. "Ring Lock System" etc engraving not the greatest I'm hoping the polishing Pb is doing will fix the brightness issue a bit. -
Waste of money. Buy BK TW best. Its around 660 USD but worth every penny. You won't regret it.
-
I bought a PT1665 and although I was initially excited the watch turned out to be a mess. Non existent QC. Everything that could be wrong with a watch was wrong. Also when I compare the metal used to make my MBW 1680 and 1665 the PT 1665 is obviously a lower grade.....much more darker in color...no sparkle to the metal at all.

WM9 was never a trusted dealer and for good reason.
-
It's a rep.....date window a few mm left or right does not really matter.
-
Never said that it bothers me! I've owned 75 plus reps so know the game well!

Kuvarsit Pam 360 - dial too orange, can I get different one?
perry563 replied to rek001's topic in The Panerai Area
H factory v3 or ultimate is coming out in 2012. I'll wait for this one. -
I have the v1 and really don't see any issue with the date position. The issues in my mind are the strap stitching being a bit on the orange side and the bezel rim being a tad too thick. All the Pams from this factory have a crystal glare issue which I don't think is better with the later versions. It's a beautiful watch and even better with the better movement.....even though it's a v1.
-
Rehaut is way wokky......looks like a typical Asian sub in this regard. However this could be the pic itself......but one huge tell for me is the thickness of the metal surrounding the pearl........looks way too thick.
-
No. A new SD is coming out soon. I'd wait for that one since it's supposed to be very good.
