rkdk replied to mezzanine's topic in Other Brands Area
man, im sorry to hear this. Just get another one. even mbws have qc issues. My eod had severe problems when i got it, so i sent it back aswell. We just have to be glad our dealers offer this amazing service. Imagine being stuck with a 400 eu paperweight. When you get the right one, youll be in heaven. It is an amazing piece. -

Any chance you could link to that post? cant seem to find it. Im very curious about this. Both watches are manufactured the same place, and i see no difference in the craftmanship at all. They even have the same movement. -

I got them both aswell. Id say the ap ro was the one i started wearing straight away. it has such a fantastisc presence, and i looks a wee bit bigger than the nautilus. Also the bracelet is to die for. I got the black faced one, and it really is amazing. But then again, i dont wear anything but the two now. I have a closet full off super good reps, and i really dont wear them, since i got these two. im wondering if my soon to be delivered eod will change this:-) But if you are looking for a set of classy watches, go for the set. It doesnt get any better imo. -
check out the screws on that bezel. what a laugh. is it a quartz?

Well, the point of my post was not really the dial flaw. I think all owners of the rep are aware of this by now. My point was that the craftmanship is on par with the gen. I dont think anybody but us will ever know wether there is a connected line dial or not. Most Gen enthusuasts notice the details first. and with a watch that old, a "special dial", is quite plausible. Most gen owners wont know, and thats for sure.
-
well, aparently there isnt much of a difference between the original 3700 jumbo and the mbw jumbo. but then again he was so focused on the craftmanship, he didnt notice the connected dots dial flaw. i guess that would take a true patek nerd. the new nautillus and the mbw are miles apart for sure.
-
well, i had removed the second hand, so it was only the little round plate (same as on the royal oak jumbo). but as he said. at first he thought it was a gen with a movement transplant.

Well. my mbw nautilus broke down. dont know what happened, but the movement stopped, and i took it to my watchsmith. Mind you this guy is a fanatic. he has a bunch of higend gens, and is a super cool guy. i left it there for a full service, and i collected it today. he told me that he had never seen such a fantastic rep of the 3700. he had brought the watch over to his friend (who has the gen) in order to figure out wether it was a rep or not. (i didnt say it was a rep) They had been comparing the two, and except from the movement, there was no difference in finish and craftmanship at all. He was especially impressed by how good the crown was made. he couldnt stop staring at it with his lupe. quite funny. At first he had thought it was a gen with a new movement, but after some looking he found out it was a rep. He actually asked if i could get him one. So guys. no problem in wearing this in to ads all over the world. unless they open it, they will never know :p

I might be to kind, but i was selling a couple of reps in the sales section here, and they just flew out. pam 183 asian with bob strap and no clasp 100$ bought it for 140$ from new pam 217 asian with bob strap and dsn crystal (dust on the dial from previous broken crystal) 120$ 140$ from new+dsn crystal and 187 with bob strap for 160$ cant remember what i bought it for. dont know if i was selling too cheap, but they sure gathered interest quickly. they are all abot 2 years old, and nothing special. The 187 is well worn, but still in super shape. No wonder people jack up the price, but for honest guys with a realistic view on rep pricing, it sure is easy to get rid of some shelf queens.

Funny. I love dodeling about in mbk. But then again im not to keen on beaches (being half irish, the tan doesnt really work out for me). Bangkok is an amazing city. especially the soi ari area. i even considered moving there.

Im really sorry to read this. the least we can do in things comunity is comunicate in a proper tone. threats like that are totally unacceptable. After all, there is no reason to get upset, since the watches are REPS. If you had "messed" up his gen, i could relate to his anger, but still his words are still far too harsch. Sorry to hear you are hanging your tools. Its a big loss for our comunity.

Do you have any idea where i could order the cylinder, or the hand set? Seems like such an obvious solution. Would love to finish that project. -

Yo Phoband. Just a quick question. Love your new watch. About a year a go i had the same idea with the same movement and a radiomir pvd case. How ever i never managed to get the hour hand to saty put. I even tried to manufacture a see through dial. Do you have any idea how your watchsmith managed this? id love to finish this project. -
Funny. My story was the opposite. iVe had quite a few gens. submariner lv, gold daytona and most recently an ikepod. I just decided, that they werent good enough. Atm im cosidering a audemars royal oak jumbo 15300, but when i look at my wrist and there i the beautiful mbw rep (wich hasnt left my wrist since i got it), i just cant justify buying the real thing. thst watch really seems to have been buildt for me. perfect fit, perfect size. most of my friends are into the gen collecting. actually my lawyer has the platinum big pilot, and wears it all the time. another friend of mine has the franck muller crazy hours in platinum aswell. They are stil all amazed how good these reps are. I allways tell them straight away, but otherwise they wouldnt have suspected it. weird how things work

I'm kinda upset with this rep game right now......

You better get payed for all the plugging you are doing for this joe character -
My mbw nautilus stopped, and since it only opens from the front, i cant get to the movement. Does anybody know (ubi perhaps) How to unscrew the crown? Normaly the release for the crown and pin is on the back of the movement, so i doooooont know. Dammit :black_eye:

oh shut up you two. Its fantastic :D
-
and the full carbon version please Such an amazing watch.
-
Any of you guys noticed how thick he case is compared to other pams? Its at least a couple of mm thicker. Also the bezel is extra thick. Is it supposed to be that way? Anyone know if the gen is thicker. but its way cool. By far the most beautiful "modern" pam imo.

finally the truth has come out. Panerais are indeed gay watches. Therefore we must take drastic measurements in order to preserve our manhood. All panerai must be sent too denmark, where i will arrange a collective destruction of the watches. further information on this "group" destruction will be posted later. can anybody. pm me the price and source of this watch? I gotta have it now MUST OWN!!!!!! :D

I got it on the bay. ended up paying 1160 eu for it. I think its a super deal, considering how rare they are. The company went belly up in 2002. And the reps are so easy to spot. No chance in hell youd get cheated in an auction:-)
