  1. Congrats on this choice and watch. Thx for the pics. Looks beautiful and clean with the inverted dial and red seconds hand, without the Cyclops covering minutes and second hands. Just ordered exactly this one yesterday, a long wait begins..... How does the movement feel compared to Asian Eta? That would be interesting. Very, very nice, wear it well.
  2. Congrats, love the lugholes also. This is as good as it gets for a watch. Received a 166610 ceramic sub rep. which is quite good but will have to go with the sleeker 16610 SS overall look and much nicer dots (those on the ceramic are just too big). If there is a gen watch to get and to save for its this one, exactly this one. Awesome simplicity. Very, very nice. Wear it well.
  3. Hi to everybody. Thx for checking out this. This Panerai 212 Flyback Chrono arrived and I am really impressed. Decided to go with the 1950´s case and I must say I really love it. C3 Superluminova applied on markers and needles just gives light. You can easily read the time on this 44mm case from 4 meters away at night. The lume reflections and distortions on the case when looking from different angles (see pics) make it a really beautiful and interesting to look at watch, maybe that's it was it is about Panerais, simple and sophisticated all at the same time. Overall build quality in my opinion first class, strap exchange really easy. Chrono works perfect, it doesn´t matter at all that it does not have the flyback function on button at 4 o´clock (on the real deal resets to zero and immediately starts chronographing again). In my real-life situations I just need a stopwatch. Weighs in at 144 grams, its a joy to wear, fits perfect its not a huge watch as I almost thought from reading too much on it. The transparent caseback is beautiful, this is the NY model from Trusty which has the OPXVIII movement engraved (instead of OPXIX) but in the end those letters are so small You really do not see it except on close inspection which doesn´t matter as by the reviews the movement is not correct anyways. For other newbies like me I would just say if You like the looks of a watch and the movement is ok (in this case an Asian 7750 at 28.800 bhp, really happy with it) just go for it, felt myself worrying way too much before it arrived - its my first no date model in Years but I will wear this one a lot. The seconds dial at 9 runs flawlessly smooth and transmits calm, same goes for the seconds hand when the chrono is on. At 3 o´clock the minute counter of the stopwatch optically counterbalances the seconds counter which gives this am a totally equilibrated look, I like it. Some first pics taken in a hurry, enjoy.
  4. Congrats on Your Pam299. Wanted to order this from Toro also but decided to go with a PAM 212 J Flyback first because it has the 1950s case and is superlumed. Must say I love it. How is the lume on Yours? Is the bracelet as easily exchangeable as on the other Pams? Must say this allmetal really looks cool. Have fun!
  5. Just beautifully made. Nice sub LV. Impressive overall look. Going for a tc rouge, inverted black dial and red seconds hand, no Cyclops:)
  6. Hi again, this fascinated me so much I keep coming back. Ordered one, its on the way - just a base model - and José is working on the matching strap:) Thanks for Your pics Repwatch
  7. This is a great project You have there. I was absolutely amazed with the look of both submariners rouge. Unresistable, have also read about the search for a movement. I want one of those, hearing from me soon.
  8. Hi and welcome to the forum. Lots and lots of info. See You around.
  9. That is some beautiful watch, looks great on the strap. Congratulations
  10. Welcome here Jtr. And congrats on Your choice I can´t wait for mine to arrive..... Would love to see some pics from Yours, mine comes from Andrew too.
  11. Welcome here from the other end of Europe, same interests, have to add gadgets to my profile
  12. Olá Amigo, seeing You the first time but welcome back anyway
  13. Welcome to RGW. I am also new here, but I´ve been reading and researching a lot. Just one tip, if you are going for a Breitling and Chrono go straight for the best (and expensive) ones and be prepared to wait 3+ weeks (that's a hard time). My choice: Avenger Seawolf yellow (no stopwatch).
  14. Just stopped by to say hello to everybody. High quality Forum, very informative, very professional, top quality pictures and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Has truly been fun to browse around, learned a lot about mechanical watches thanks to all of You. Main interests here Rolex, Vintage & Panerai. And IWC and …. .  See You around.
  15. Hi again, 8 GB - It appears only on the dials of GPF 2/56 reference watches: the legendary “8 Giorni Brevettato” symbol, representing the Angelus Cal. 240 SF movement with 8 days power reserve, more is here: http://www.vintagepanerai.com/2010/06/21/the-legendary-8-giorni-symbol/ The strapmaker is Jose Maria in Spain: http://www.facebook.com/#!/cb.straps.3 http://cbstraps.blogspot.com/ Have fun with that unique piece of art - beautiful:)
  16. Amazing pictures; great vintage stuff! You perfectly catched the atmosphere, loved them all, watches, boxes, pictures, scenario, beautifully done!
  17. Answer to Lapince: Check out Leno´s Garage Fiat 1917 Botafogo Special 22l WWI Aero and the wonderful Bugatti on Youtube and You have all the answers. He wears his replicas in public and with pride because they are unique and there are things in life you want to look at and feel and touch, if there is no original around a rep gives You 80% to 90% of the fun and emotion I`´ d say.
  18. What an utterly wonderful watch this is. Now I did some research on the 8 giorni brevettato symbol and know where it comes from, because I had seen this unique, fascinating strap from a Spanish maker just 2 days ago: Congrats on Your watch, very, very nice!
  19. Hey Guys, just check this out. After my first two-tone Rollie-Rep I´ve got something to really love. This was never my first-choice Pam as its rated a low-grade Rep (non-working depth gauge) and in mop for a Panerai it was overloaded with information. But I could get my hands on it and oh wonderful surprise: What a wonderful watch for a Newbie! Tuna-cans can´t get any better:) (well the Pam 243 probably is and has date...) Solid 180 grams weight, super-smooth and solid clicking one directional bezel, a fascinating slow-motion turning seconds dial with nicely engraved rings below, lots of hands and dials nicely glowing in the dark with a clear 12 and 6. I just love it. It´s a big watch but not too big, it just feels perfect. Everything fits, clicks and feels just solid. Nicely engraved closed back. And the automatic A2813 bi-directional movement in this one has a perfect high-pitched winding whine (if You hold it to the ear) which stops rock-solid after +- a second, movement like a gen-watch of the eighties, I just love it, nothing like the never-ending rotors on the low-end reps. Depth-Gauge is just manually set would be fascinating to see that one really working on a dive. This PAM totally convinced me already. 6 weeks ago, before joining this Forum did not even know the brand, just saw it in the movies, now I already ordered some straps, the 1950´s casing is what appeals most to me and a Flyback Chrono and the mythical 127 will sooner or later come around (always thought that beauty would be too big, but after this PAM193 with case 47mm – thickness 20,5 mm fitting perfect, the 127 should be no problem at all). Thanks to the Forum which introduced me to Panerais and their history and the Reference PAM-Review-Guide. Any comments, info and critics on this watch are welcome as there is few information about. Enough talk now, on to the pics:
  20. Just received my first Submariner after following Your suggestions and taking a look at details You guys keep posting. Submariner has a really smooth sweeping second hand with Asian 2836-2 at 28.800 bhp. Feels solid, keeps good time, has several details like a barely visible laser crown at 06 and the rehault engraving starts at 3 with an R, crown centered at 12´o clock. Pearl looks nice, lume is perfect (last shot compared to Seamaster) and the unidirectional bezel is easy and smooth to move, clicks 120 times. This is my first "quality"- rep, just received from Trusty, bracelet perfect after soaking overnight in oil, otherwise straight out of the box. Weighs in at 132 grams. Here are some shots attached (hope these show on the post, I´m new at this): What do You think?
