  1. Thank You dfer and Mike and all for the comments so far. Actually the one I do indeed like is the blue day-date reviewed by bi-thor but by the time I ordered this just didn´t want to get through the lengthy qc -process of misaligned datewheel or... or.... and end up with another Asian 7750 to be careful with or where the best is never to touch the chrono itself. This one I checked out at an AD and after having the rep it I can´t see any difference, the gen reflects a bit too if You look at pics, although readability excellent. As I wrote it´s so good qualitywise I would not get the gen even not for 700 or 800 usd because there is simply no need for that, movement´s the same and its one of the things it makes it so attractive as rep, You simply think it´s a gen (or don´t think it´s a rep). It´s a pity it´s not auto because setting time and date "feels" so good and gen-like and the screws work as smooth as an Omega-gen. (no need to ever set the time except once). The chronopushers have exactly the amount of resistance required and tack - they work, feels fine. Qualitywise its in a league with the AP Diver, the Steelfish and the TC-sub which are all getting more wristtime (and those I would consider buying as used gens) and the 1/10 second rotating is an attractive show-off gadget. Nobody would ever think of this being a rep also not holding and touching it. It´s a reliable grab-and go watch for all situations, neither overrated nor understated and its got the rotating bezel for countdown-timing. Starting to consider this seriously as a travel-watch too because this crosses borders and goes with dress or a t-shirt as well.
  2. That´s some fantastic looking double-red ehhh - orange Seadweller. Is that available/homebuild/gen? Beautiful Rolex, looks really 100% on that great picture.
  3. Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Racing Grey for today
  4. That Breguet is a beauty. Behold. In relative values the gen to rep factor is 1:181, must be the best I´ve seen so far; Remains to divide the value of the rep by the days You´re going to use it and multiply it with Your personal fun-factor-scale and see if You get an acceptable relation..... just trying to justify the expense ....but than, the Rep´s got blue screws.... Thanks for showing a beautiful watch - I think I would go with the picture of the gen on my wrist and maybe visit the AD another time
  5. That's quite a story and makes it the more interesting and a perfect pic with the orange dot still shining. That's a piece that made history on Your wrist. Very exotic indeed. Looking at this classic design makes You think why there aren´t modern thoughts about how to give a watch additional simple and effective mechanical functions besides showing the time (Rolex to simple inspite using it a lot to time things and Breitling with excess of functions and too small lettering). This was a pleasure to revisit:)
  6. The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Chronograph Quartz Grande Date Date CAF101F.BA0821 Designed and developed by professional divers, this Aquaracer represents TAG Heuer's historical dedication to scuba diving and extreme sports. Rep-Picture: Gen - pics The Original: Stainless steel case and bracelet. Unidirectional stainless steel bezel. White dial with luminous hands and index hour markers. Minute markers around the outer rim. Luminescent hands and markers. Date displays at the 12 o'clock position. Three subdials - 60 seconds, 30 minutes and 1/10th of a second with sweeping hand. Swiss Ronda Quartz movement/ ETA 251.262. Scratch resistant, AR sapphire crystal. Screw down crown. Case diameter: 43 mm. Case thickness: 13 mm. Deployment clasp. Water resistant to 300 meters/ 1000 feet. Functions: hours, minutes, seconds, date, chronograph. The Replica TAG Heuer Aquaracer Grande Date: The fit, finish, function and quality of this Tag Aquaracer Chrono are exceptionally good and it is one of the most accurate 1:1 replications I have seen by comparison to web-pictures of the gen. It features a claimed Swiss Ronda Quartz movement as the gen and the same sweeping 1/10 second hand. It´s one of the rare cases the only two reasons to buy the real thing would be the water resistance to 300 meters and the Box set. Until a side-by-side comparison with a Gen is available here are my impressions. The reviewed sample was provided by Sead/Supermirrors, 30 days from order to arrival before X-mas, well packaged with protective covers on the dial and backside at a cost of 239 USD plus shipping. For the quality-feel, the lume and the gen-likeliness of what You get this price is perfectly justified as the top-movement alone already costs 130 USD (at Esslinger.com) Available in black or white. Tag Logo: It shows the 2 arrows on the G Accuracy: +/- 2 seconds per month, not measurable 0,064 secs per day Quality/feel: Impressive, apart from the AP V5 Diver it’s the best overall quality I found in a rep. meaning Chronopushers, stem, time-setting, screw-down crown working smooth and precise as a gen. Not only looks but also feels like a gen which is great; Bezel: Outer, unidirectional rotating 60 minute S/S brushed bezel with 2 clicks per minute to count elapsed or remaining time up to 1 hour. Sits tight and well, rotates easily, precisely and fast with somewhat loud clicks (easy to count by audition). The engraving is good and filled with black. The luminous pearl at 12´ together with the marker at 12´ provide a nice nighttime effect for locating the 12´ position; The inner bezel with the detailed minute count is highly polished S/S and fixed. Lume: Best overall and visible lume, the same on the hands and stickers of a quartz-replica; specially being a Chrono; the same as on gen – pictures. This is a serious reason to prefer this model when choosing a quartz movement. on Nato-Strap Lumeshot compared to AP 15400 BP Maker Lumeshot compared to Rolex Seadweller Chrono: The main second hand is locked at the 12´ position unless You use the chrono. This is a perfect feature because You don´t have a big ticking hand to look at, this was one of the reasons to buy it quartz in the first place. The running seconds tick visibly at 3´ position if You look directly at the subdial. If the eyes are looking either to the big date at 12´or the 6´ encircled subdial You can´t tell. The minute counter scaled to 30 is at the 9´position. Best chrono feature: Sweeping (!) 1/10 seconds are displayed at the 6´position. This hand sweeps flawlessly (no ticking) and very fast measuring 1/10 seconds for the first minute. (Check out a video on youtube) After the first minute it stops sweeping and starts measuring the hours elapsed. Date: Big date display in 2 windows – one for each datewheel - at 12´, nice feature, perfect visibility Caseback: Same as gen (!) Nice, crisp and deep engravings with very high quality of the divers helmet, perfect lettering and engraving. It is quite beautiful also in my opinion. Bracelet: Double locking fold over clasp and easy to use (just push open) divers extension. It has 3 working positions for micro-adjustment on the clasp which is a big plus. Off the wrist it rattles. On the wrist its silent, feels very comfortable and holds the watch well. Actually it feels solid and perfect because of the micro-adjustement possibility and fits the watch case well. Its easy to remove and fix the bracelet on the case. It took time and was quite difficult to remove the link pins – it´s the Heuer system with a tight-sitting pin fixed by a small tube in the middle which Omega also used and nasty to play with. If You bang on the pin-removal tool with pliers or a small hammer they come out after a while and in the end it was easy and without any scratching of the links, but before this broke my (cheap) screw pin removal apparatus (as it happens often with Tag gens by the way as seen on Youtube) and had it on a Nato-strap for some days so its better to have one of those around when You get the watch. Divers extension inner clasp detail outer clasp Weight: 175 grams including bracelet (some links removed) Case: measured 10´ to 4: 43 mm Dial: measured 10´to 4´: 31 mm Thickness: 12,06 mm exactly Size measurements for the Gen differ from site to site with 43 and 44 mm as well as 12,3, 13 and 14 for the thickness Size comparison to the PAM 212 Flyback Chrono and the Rolex Sub- Ceramic Final thoughts: It is a high-quality Watch bordering the super-rep status for its likeliness to the original. The big date is very well readable, the luminiscence is good and the 1/10th second sweeping hand is a joy to look at. It wears solid and comfortable and has a good weight. The overall quality is superior to many lower priced generally known genuine brands. The quartz movement itself is very shock-resistant by its nature so this should last for a very long time. As this is a replica forum in my opinion this is one of the most believable replicas available because of the pricetag of the gen too. The possibility of this TAG even being a rep never even crossed my mind. I “believe” it’s a gen, that´s how good it is. If You are looking for a reliable quartz watch in black or white this surely is one of the best options. Thanks to all reading this first attempt at a review until the end. If You liked this or found this review useful please post a comment or leave a thumbs up.
  7. The aqualung is covered by the second hand square. So thats one of those extremely rare with the hand engraved lugs and it´s a no-t Sub 300. That´s an about 1968 vintage. Fantastic, collectible watch, really something special "The Best Sub" . You have it´s story? This has been fun renovating my interest for the Doxa, so I will follow the progress of mission 31.
  8. This is an awesome review with excellent pictures and perfect accessories/settings. Very interesting and beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Did You do other reviews? Have to take a look, this is sooo good. One thing though: Did I miss the lumeshots?
  9. I quite like it, reminds me of a Tag Aquaracer with AP Diver screws and strap and Hublot pushers, and a bit of Ingenieur too. But the black one, that's really something out of this world. Fantastic.
  10. Wow, Clive Cussler has one, Dirk Pitt too – it´s the first Doxa Sub 300 Pro I´ve ever seen on the forum. Always loved that orange dial and the simple and bulletproof logics of that uni-directional bezel with the no decompression time limits on the inner ring. Congrats on that one Nanuq, simply great – and thanks for the pic. It simply looks great.
  11. Well that´s quite something of a project You have going there. And a lot of expertise for putting it together and modifying the bezel fittings. Great. Have a TC since yesterday and the movement is fantastic compared to the standard Asian ones, quite another class. Assume that I could (let a specialist) replace an Asian or Swiss ETA with that one but would it work on a watch with former 2813 too in case it breaks down or I want to improve it? Wish You to successfully finish it soon so we may have some pics of it. Good luck.
  12. Looking very good from all sides.. Perfect first pic. Thanks for sharing:)
  13. Update: Second hand mechanism. Compared to the Asian production Seadweller or Sub the second hand seems to slide behind the center and nearer to the minute hand. Maybe its got a cap but definitely all hands are stacked nearer to the dial and assembled much nearer together which to the naked eye gives a different gliding look to the second hand with the center seemingly staying quiet. Quite professional looking. In this try at macro shots it looks like this: TC Submariner handstack, hour-hand almost touching dial, second hand near to minute hand (and capped?), the center of the second hand seems to stay quiet while the hand moves - either capped or optical illusion because of the highly polished silvery center Asian Seadweller (or sub), hour-hand much farther from dial and second hand much farther from minute hand; center of second hand visibly moves together with the hand
  14. Thanks a lot, loved those nature pictures matching that Donerix strap. Fantastic macro-shots. Have to take another look at this with time. Just great.
  15. This is really a well sorted, very nice collection. It was a pleasure to see Your pics and appreciate Your watches. Very good taste, indeed. Have to get myself a Hublot Ice Bang like that one, but liked all of them.
  16. Ok, it´s a technical marvel. It´s a real watch - a "Swiss Watch" "made in America", manufactured and assembled with care : Straightforward. No worries, no problems, no second thoughts. American assembly quality and You have it: You put in on the wrist – and it feels good. It sits. No need for adjustments, not too tight, not to loose, it just fits. The TC is thinner, more gen-like, by this changing the weight balance to a lower point on the wrist and wow You notice it, a lot, it does not “capsize” like the others, huge improvement and difference. What a quality feel with the bracelet and its opening mechanism, it snaps open, it has a resistance than snaps, tight, solid, as it should be. The movement – perfect, no rattling, no shaking, feels “gen-like”. Screwing out the crown – again perfect feel, no scratching, no pushing, no fiddling around, no trying, it just clicks and You set date and time, smoothly, no resistance at all – perfectly working. Simply GREAT! As for the looks, a lot has been said already the TC sub catches the light, it blinks, it reflects. Shine and perfection of the triangle and circles is fantastic. The lettering on the dial is crisp and uses different fonts than the asian ones. The black is smooth and a deep black. One other huge difference/improvement is how the second hand attaches to the center wheel – it just looks perfect. For this "Cadell Submariner Rouge 25-286" I just had to have that inverted datewheel without the Cyclops for the balanced overall "Seadweller-type" look and the crisp red second hand sweeping is just fascinating. Thanks for this TC On to the pics, got a little carried away.. enjoy: And my 2 new favourite together:
  17. Congrats on that beautiful 16613 Gen. You´ve got it for a fantastic price specially considering its from an AD and will yet get some improvements. As it goes You will wear it for free if You ever decide to sell it again, that's the best part. Meanwhile wear it well and please post some more pics soon. Would be interesting to have a follow-up how You use that Gen in real life. Will it go out for dinner and receptions only, or will it go to the shower, to the beach too? Just keep us posted.
  18. Result looks great, where is the "before" pic - lol? Hope this is a 5- min job with homemade materials
  19. Happy New Year. Saw one vintage, it has the white dial and red datewheel over at marvellousreplica (TD on the other rwg). Don´t know if our TD´s have it.
  20. Hello and welcome to the forum. Not from Sweden but we are on the same continent. Wish You happy reading and good choices.
  21. Welcome to the forum and the beautiful world of watches. Wish You good choices and a nice Rolex to start with.
  22. Hi and welcome to the forum. As this will be Your first purchase stay with Andrew, he´s got a very fast e-mail response, sending of qc pictures and shipping. With time You will want to try out other TD´s too. The Asian eta 2836 is fine and gives a very fine, smooth sweeping of the second hand same as the swiss, myself would prefer to order a 2nd watch even with Asian 2813 or Quartz and save on the shipping instead of going for the swiss. The former Rolex 16600 series have smaller dots and green lume and are a very nice pick too (168 to 188 USD range). Than there are brands like TAG and Breitling, Omega..... What goes good for the black is that it´s not immediately recognizable as a Rolex, less ostentatious, personally I prefer the DSSD in SS or PVD over the pro-hunter but its big and heavy. Good luck with Your choices and purchase.
  23. It looks great on Your wrist and the blue version is the most beautiful one long-term in my opinion. Perfect sports-watch.
  24. Hi and welcome on the forum. The basic Yachtmaster is a nice dresswatch in my opinion. If You mean the Yachtmaster II all versions I have seen come with a faux chrono so its non-working and You may choose the Asian 2813 movement anyway. If this is Your first watch look up 3 trusted dealers and their offers, than buy from any one of them. My advice would be to buy the cheaper Asian movement which normally is very reliable. Only go for the most expensive Yachtmaster after having read a lot here on the forum and have decided if it is worth it. With time You will discover the interest for other watches and You will need the funds. Good luck with Your choice.
  25. It´s vintage, its black and its sober with these minor gold touches which go perfectly with it. Join a vintage Dunhill Unique lighter and some St. Dupont cufflinks to match and 007 would love it too:) Great buy, Mike.
