I am really digging this piece. Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Those grey 000 pads work great. I usually start with a course pad then use these to finish. Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

2.5 hours....I think I set it a little off but will keep am eye on it. It is still about 1.5 minutes behind. I dremel the polished parts and use a stainless steel conditioner on the brushed parts. Little brushing and polishing on bracelets before the lube. Nothing major just little detail work. It does make a difference. Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Good evening, Just opened up a package with 2 new pieces. My first order from Toro. Very good experience all the way around. I can see why people compliment Toro so much he is great to work with. This is the first time I have received an OTB rep that did not have issues. Everything works and both are keeping good time so far. Been eyeing a new gen and cannot really decide so thought I would try these two out. I did my usual detail work on the heads and bracelets. Bracelets soaking in White Lightning over night. I will do a review of both pieces soon. Not sure I accomplished much, initially I really like both pieces. Digging the larger size. Few quick pics: Right out of the box After a little work

Same here. First order with Toro. Great service, QC, and both pieces are excellent. Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Yes, I have one sitting here in my office and it has a reference on the bottom. It is from a 16623 from 1988.

No expert here, but I shopped 1675/16750 gen dials a bunch a few months ago when I was doing my build and these spider dials are fairly rare and most were priced higher than $400. Pretty nice patina on that one also. I paid $300 for a regular 16750 dial that was in excellent condition but then dropped another $100 to get it lumed. Part of me wishes I would have left it with the nice patina it had, but I was going for the vintage/new restored look. That would look great with a nicely faded insert and aged case.

Thanks I get that. The dial alone could be 2k ish. I did a little side work consulting project and have a nice budget set aside for the big crown:). Sent from my droptop using telepathy. -

Thanks Guys: Appreciate all the feedback. Nice thing about being part of this forum is that I can bounce ideas off others. Before I became part of this community, I really did not have a reference and just bought things on impulse. Just posting this and getting some feedback kept me from doing that. I agree retail price is too high. I do have some contacts looking but only if I can acquire at a significant discount like <2K. Automatico's statements about cost to fix also shed some light. I too have had some gens that once the warranty expires, they are costly to fix. One of the reasons I found the forum was that my old gen sub from the 80's needed some work and Rolex wanted more to fix it than the watch was really worth. I have an old Mont Blanc pen and contacted them about fixing it and got the "send us $100 and we will look at it BS." The pen was only $300 new......so I bought some rep MB's. At the end of the day, this money may be better spent on a franken 6538--I could get an Ivan dial for what the RL watch costs which would be a good start to a nice vintage sub......that is if I don't spend all my money on Michael Kors and Kenneth Cole pieces Mark -
Wholly smokes Freddy. That is some vintage beauty there. Here is my desktop picture at work. The gold rivet bracelet has to be one of the most elegant pieces of all time.

One of my favorite models but as stated, no good reps of this model to be had.

Ok, so what are you planning to do with that? Oh, beautiful time piece by the way.

Thanks guys, I know for 3K I could build a pretty nice franken 6538 which is to be my next build after the 1016 is complete. We will see if I can find a good deal anywhere. Still like the looks a lot and I do not have any black cased models, so if I can find a good price, like 2K, I may grab one. -

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming. I did some research on the movements but cannot locate who makes them. Everything says they are Swiss custom made COSC certified for RL. My guess is that they are IWC. I found a picture of the flying Tourbillon movement, but not of this model. I agree price is a steep for what it is, but knowing RL, it will be well executed. I am trying to see if one of my AD connections can get me a deal on one, as I assume there is much mark up on these. I like it, but not enough to pay retail. and with black band... -
Seem to be wearing this a lot lately Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Hi All, I have been a RL Polo guy my whole life. Just about every piece of clothing, shoes and accessories I own is Polo. I tend to be brand loyal. Generally brand loyal to Rolex (now reps) for watches, but RL released a new vintage model that I think is really cool. Here is a pic and here is a link to the collection. Clearly the dress watch is a no brainer at 18K, but these sport models range from 3.5-5K. Something different that you really do not see people wearing much. 39-45 mm models. http://watches.ralphlauren.com/?ab=en_US_MDLP_Multiple_Men_BKT_R_SHOPNOW# What do you think of this piece?

From the man himself. Matt has built me several watches and they are outstanding pieces. Great watchsmith. Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Sweet piece. I just drilled out the rivet ends to accept the 2mm bars and it's fits perfect with the 580 end links. I have 3 watches with jubs and none with old school rivet or folded so going for that look. Really like the rivet on this piece looks great. In fact just boxed everything up to send off to be assembled. The folded bracelet is still 2 weeks out and I am getting impatient.....let's hope we can sort out the 7206 for this:). Personally not a fan of overly big watches, but 42 mm may be the perfect size. I will know in the next few days as I ordered the noob v2 216750 and a noob 41 mm 116300. Tracking shows in CA so should be here in next day or two. As far as a 42 mm sub, haven't seen any information on Rolex planning to do one but it would be cool. Probably depends on how sales of current subs are going. Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Yep, good idea to insure these type of items. My underwriters policy is about $400 a year and fully covers jewelry, home theater, and my golf club collection. They did not ask for invoices but pictures of the items. No deductible. Kind of expensive but suppose to be hassle free in event of loss..... Sent from my droptop using telepathy.
