Same here. Birth year right. There was a really nice one in the gen sales area in July but I did not jump. I was on the GMT build then so I was grinding on that. Kinda fell off my radar until I saw this one. Now I will grind on this until I find one...it's the OCD Sent from my droptop using telepathy. -
Very cool story. I still have my first one too. About 10 years ago 16613 with all solid gold parts. Gold on its worth way more than the piece itself but I will never get rid of it. In fact still wear it. Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Thanks and yes I have spent some time over there in the omega section and found a couple of gen forums. Need to do some research on models and service costs and... Sent from my droptop using telepathy. -
Yes this happens. I have done it several times. I have not had the courage to try and work on a good movement yet but at some point will dive in. The last one I did was on a beautiful franken I picked up M2M and when I arrived I went to wind it and set the time and pulled the whole crown out.....tried to get it back in and buggered it all up. Off to the watch smith. That one ended up getting a new movement. Hopefully you can save yours. Good luck

Keep coming back to look at this. This is really well done and based on the parts selected with a reasonable budget.

I am tempted to message and see how much better of a price....

Nightwatch that was your 1000 post--congrats. To the OP: If you plan to stick around here, find yourself a good rep friendly watch smith--they are like gold in this hobby. I personally would not send back to China, just heard to many horror stories. Generally if I buy an OTB rep from a TD/Dealer, I assume I will need to have something fixed or tweaked, that way I am not disappointed when I have to send it off to get repaired. Although my last order both pieces arrived in excellent condition and running great but that has not been the norm.

OK, so I have spent most of my free time for the better part of 2 days looking a vintage gen Omega Seamasters.....Just what I needed another watch to chase Wife asks me what I am doing, I am looking at vintage Omega's, she says I thought you were a Rolex guy......I showed her one and she says I like that better than your Submariners, the hands are cool... -

Crazy. I thought I jumped to another listing. Wow and there are 2 bids. Go figure. Sent from my droptop using telepathy. -
+1 on what Nightwated stated. It certainly has narrowed down my thought process on what I really like and what gens I will buy. Always liked simple dials and prefer no date on sport models. One mistake I made is buying reps of gens I never considered before. There was a reason I had not thought of buying the gen, generally because I don't like something on it. Bought 3 or 4 just to see and of course sold them quickly at a loss. Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Not been here long, but have purchased over 20+ pieces in 9 months and spent well over 10K on watches and builds. Similar to others, I found the forum doing research on a modern gen Rolex. Had a nice budget set aside for a new Ceramic Submariner to replace my existing model. I have been wearing gen Rolex's since the 80's but generally buy one and wear it daily, then trade it in on a new one every few years. I have always loved Rolex's but really cannot justify having more than 1 watch of that value at a time. There are so many models I have always liked but have not had on the wrist. Initially, I thought this hobby would provide me the opportunity to try out different models and see how I like them at a much reduced cost. I never really know if I love a piece until I wear it around a bit. I had no idea I would spend as much time here as I do. I really enjoy the hobby and the community. I have really learned a lot about time pieces and especially Rolex history and I have met some really great and knowledgeable people. Through this process my tastes change back and forth and I want different models. I am pretty torn between the vintage and modern pieces, seem to like them both. I agree with what others have said, I could easily have bought a gen or two in the time here, but would not have learned what I have. I am shopping for another gen currently and I will sell off some of my reps, but I do not think I will leave here or the hobby. Some of the reps I will never sell as I have too much time and money in them. Main problem now is deciding what gen...... Don't know that I would have done anything different, cannot learn without experiencing things some times.

Thanks for the help. Much appreciated. I have been searching for these for some time and had not thought of using the DJ pieces. We think this will work. George is very nice guy and excellent prompt service. Thanks Stone P. He was willing to do a full gold set. I will post up some pics when I get them on. What a great community. I should have posted this weeks ago. Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Thanks, That is what I was afraid of. I will contact some of the dealers and see if I can source a strap that has end pieces that will work or a cheap whole rep on strap with end pieces. Or break the bank and see if I can find a gen strap or possibly just the gen gold end pieces. Other option would be to build a vintage model and use the end pieces that are available with this strap. I have a nice overlay bracelet for this piece, but like the look with the strap better. Problem with building another model is that I really like this piece. This is one of Matt's builds and is really executed nicely. Everything works great and this gen dial is one of the nicest I have seen. It just has layers of depth.... Kind of funny, when we did this build we debated and went back and forth on whether to do modern or vintage.....Should have went vintage.

Thanks Freddy, This is an old gen strap and buckle and I really like it. Just seems to suit this piece perfectly. I am looking for the little pieces to fit between the strap and lugs. Like this product here http://www.rolexendlinks.com/index.php?id_category=11&controller=category So either looking for a source that has something like this for the modern case, or if someone has experience modding end links to fit this that would work too. Thanks
