  1. Hi guys I appreciate any help on this, I am grinding on this process I know I have posted questions about this build already. Hoping to make some decisions this weekend to get this thing going. A member of another forum offered this case for sale. Trying to reduce costs on this build after some feedback from other members, so down to 2 options: buy a complete "1:1" rep from a TD like this maybe http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5&products_id=8354 and put my gen parts on it and live with that or find a reasonably priced modded case and put the my gen parts on that. I have already sourced gen dial, crown, crystal and insert. At the end of the day I am not as picky about crown guards and the case as others may be. I am picky about the insert, crystal, crown, dial and rehaut. So what I am struggling with is the rehaut look on most of the factory pieces I have seen, I already tried one and it was awful looking so sold it. This is what was stated by seller about the case. He wants $150 for it. "Drilled to accept 20mm gen spring bars, accepts gen crystal, been reshaped to gen specs." Can anyone tell me anything based on the pictures?
  2. All good. Me a noob too. Feels good to be able to give back to the forum as usually I take . I have practiced this on a few old bracelets and unfortunately some new ones . Wear surgical gloves... This stuff not meant for skin. I do soak over night in the white lightning bike lube. I use a plastic baggy and soak it good. Seal it up and leave it til the morning. I then wash it in foaming hand cleaner. Some of the Teflon will be left and looks like a thin white film, so now I clean with micro fiber cloth and a really soft tooth brush to get the hard to reach areas, especially in between the links. Once it is all clean I then just rub the SS cleaner in by hand. Buff with soft micro fiber cloth and repeat and repeat..and repeat until I get the look I am after. Make sure to get all the cleaner off as I am sure it is not be good for the skin. This stuff drys nice and is not greasy and reduces fingerprints and so on. I do around the case too, but very carefully. Be careful trying other products especially if they have grit as they may remove the brushed look. I ruined a few bracelets doing that. My old 16613 two tone SS and solid gold sub use to be polished gold and brushed SS. Now it is all polished:). Here are some pics of a job gone bad. Thank God this is an 80's watch and the high polish works. Obviously it did not get this polished with a cloth and some polish. Many hours with a dremel and compound. There is no doubt that this is solid gold Luckily I like the look but it was not intended initially. Like most things in this crazy hobby trial and error. I ruined another bracelet on a nice modded BK YM and had to buy a new bracelet at $100. My watch smith friend tells me it costs $$$ to learn about watches:) I am definitely learning that. He has 2 watches on his workbench being fixed as a result of my trial and error......... Hope that helps
  3. Awesome thread. I love animals, especially dogs. Sasha just back from the spa Funny story I always had Great Danes the last one lived to be 13 and I had to put her down. They usually only live 6-8 years. The loss kept us from getting another dog for several years. I was shopping for a Mastiff for my wife's bday 4 years ago and she rescued this little fluff ball from a snow bank looked like a gerbil, so no mastiff. Now 4 year old 20 lbs of twisted steel mutant. She is mostly long hair dachshund....we think. She's a hoot. Just a great little dog. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I have underwriters policy on my home insurance. Got burnt a few years ago as that policy only covered 10k for jewelry. More of a loss was my golf clubs and Scotty Cameron putter collection. Now when I by jewelry /watches, yes including reps I post a wristie but also contact insurance to update the policy. Same for golf clubs. They were great about paying that claim for electronics and other household stuff but lost a lot on the jewelry, watches and clubs. It's a few hundred a year extra but I think it's worth it. Have a safe also with hole drilled in back so I can run power cord to the winder:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Have not tried that it is a liquid called of all things stainless steel cleaner. Comes in a 4oz bottle made by Elco laboratories. Got it when we built the house. Says they sell it at sears but maybe on amazon as they have every thing. It doesn't have any grit in it so it is not really polish more of a cleaner/conditioner/brightener. 6. Hi Quik, welcome to the forum. As JK stated the bike chain dry lube adds teflon and gets inside the working of the bracelet and smooths it out. Much quieter and just feels better and I think adds just a little barrier of protection. Believe or not I use stainless steel cleaning/polishing compound that I use on my SS appliances in the kitchen. The stuff is magic. I tried other polishes and they end up polishing too much and remove too much of the gen brushed look, when I get home I will post the name of the brand I use. I experimented with this on some old bracelets and it works better than anything else I have tried.
  7. No doubt. I mean how much can u save....not like the difference between $10k or $1k for the similar product. You know.... I saved $8 buying these underwear from china but the shipping cost $30 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Tony looking good. Looks like $ to me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. TC in the droptop after working on the bracelet for several hours. Very happy:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. After a bath in white lightening then some non polishing stainless conditioner bracelet is ready to go. Couple hours on this but man what a difference Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. If you like the Milgauss you could always do a mod to make it the way you want it. I do not care for the green crystal or bright colors so got this. More vintage look. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Ya it's a joke. It was discussed in the sales thread for this watch... Shopping for good strap as we speak. Probably just contact Eric and have one made but will look in sales threads for something quick too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. U might want to try mymanmatt He built a diamond black dial for a fiend of mine. Not sure on the RG though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Took about 8 weeks or so. It's worth it. Kept busy buying other watches while waiting;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thank you, all I did was order it. TC really does some awesome work. I had planned on some gen upgrades but not sure now.
  16. Good day today, arrived home to find several packages including my first Pam and a TCv6. I bought a TC M2M but a friend at worked talked me out of it so this is my first piece coming directly from TC. I must say he takes perfectionism to a whole new level, even the way the watch is packaged is meticulous. I have a BK v2 Sub C also and both are excellent representations, and the workmanship is very similar, but I do like the vintage look better. I had planned to install a gen insert, crystal and crown, but not sure now as this thing looks pretty awesome. Bracelet is great, links remove easier than my old gen, bezel rotates perfectly, crown operates perfect...... Bracelet is taking a bath in white lightning to get smoothed out a little though. It is well worth the wait Here are some quick pics with the iPhone. And a wristie:
  17. Hi, I am a Rolex guy, but bought my first Pam and it arrived today. Love the way the lug/spring bar set up work. Man it is much easier to change straps than on other watches. I also like simple dials, so I think I like this. The titanium is light and this thing is really comfortable to wear. Need to get a decent strap and buckle though. It came with 3 rep straps and rep buckle. I think I will now order the 372 Superclone. Just for Legend I put the white strap on for the pics.
  18. Couple months. It is sitting in my mailbox at home...may have to leave work early. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Yes I saw the thread on your GMT. GLWS and super good deal, especially for a matte dial. I did see a decent one for 4K in Seattle the other day. Thanks for the response. I tend to be a little OCD and grind on projects. Appreciate the feedback and will slow down a bit. Going to post WTB on all forums and keep searching for a reasonable $ case. Got the gen parts for good prices so nothing lost there. I got to thinking if I am going to spend that much on a rep GMT it will be a 6542 as I cannot get a gen of that. Anyone has a 1675/16750 case that will take gen parts let me know.
  20. Beauty. Mine says hello Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Nice Mike:). Going same route sourcing new oem gen insert crown and AR crystal as well. Although the GMT build seems to be consuming my time and $ these days Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. True that. I sold my other TC and my BK SubC so been without a black SS sub for a bit now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. According to usps shipping my v6 will be here tomorrow. Needles to say I am pretty happy about that:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Thanks ghost. Yes I will be $2500 into it with phong case. About half of a gen in good shape. I read threads on how to do that with the 1655 but beyond my modding skills at this point. Will that case accept the gen parts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
