  3. Hi guys, some of you may remember this watch from 3 raffles ago. Build by a forum member, then won in the raffle and I was able to purchase from the winner. Unfortunately triangle at 12 floating upon arrival--not complaining sure it happened in shipping. Actually this is the third piece in a row that had issues upon arrival, no complaints, i read the noob stuff when I started and understand this is part of this hobby. Since I can't wear it, decided to work on the case. I have sanded then polished then sanded then polished about 50 times. I wanted to smooth out the edges, crown and bezel, then give it a fresh polish. Other than working on bracelets, this is the first time I have really messed with any of my watches. This was a lot of work about 12 hours of time. I think it turned out great. This one is going on a rubber B strap. Let me know what you think. Will be sending to mymanmatt in the morning along with the other watch that needs to be fixed. Here are some pictures:

  5. CEO, thanks for that. Dang...still gotta believe noob will put out a rep Pepsi. Guess I will have to wait and see how it looks. Or hope that a Franken GMT Pepsi that I like shows up for sale. Thanks for the info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Pan, curious how much was the gen insert? Do you think we will see the new gen Pepsi inserts in the future?
  7. That comparison of the inserts really shows the difference. I still like it though. I think I am going to hold out for the Pepsi insert though. You know that will be coming soon. Add a gen ceramic Pepsi insert, dial, crystal and red GMT hand and I am sold.....

  9. Matt builds really nice pieces and is great to work with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks Tony, Matt is a great watchsmith and a great guy to work with. I was torn between vintage or modern case. Ended up with modern case but lucked out on the gen dial it is a perfect match. Enjoy your beautiful piece and wear in good health. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Big D that is some awesome work. Now I wish I hadn't gave my 16 year old nephew my invicta collection. I could have used them to learn about modding. That looks really good man. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thank you. I think I will stick to buying completed watches for a bit and tinker with some of my cheaper no wrist time units and keep reading. At some point I will go for a build but still have so much to learn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Very nice. Is that one of Matt's builds? Mine says hello on a Donerix with gen buckle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. +1 on the silver dial. A beauty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Automatico Thanks for all that knowledge. I think smoke is coming out of my ears. So if I understand it may make more sense to drop the coin on a high end case as everything will fit together better as in gen parts. Basically the same conclusion on the research for the vintage GMT. Especially since I am no modder and knowledge is limited. Buy the $ case and build from there. Is that a correct assessment? 17. Gorgeous piece. Love the polish work. I have been messing around with my dremel and different wire brushes on some of my old beaters and it takes much practice and expertise to get it to look like that. I am still not there yet. I can get the high polished chromed out look easy but that perfectly brushed look is tough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Welcome, and do not forget to check the member to member sales area as well. You may find one of the pieces you are looking for there.

  23. No expert but the BK's I have, the movements came in good working order. Watch just needed to be sized by removing a link. With the glide lock clasp on the new subs they are pretty easy to size. I viewed a YouTube video for some help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Wow, awesome DIY article. Being a noob really helps see the whole process. I have been wavering on whether I could actually do my own build and this has helped me see with the correct tools and instructions, I "may" be able to. Thank you for spending the time and effort to put this together and share it. Oh and beautiful time piece, love that dial.
