  1. Update: this will be more of a 1675.5 with the gen 16750 dial (I prefer the white gold indices) acquired new gen insert, crystal and crown and possibly gen bezel and hands. Thinking of just forking out the dough for the Phong case. Couple questions. Thoughts on using phong case in general and with with an eta movement? How hard is it to modify gen hands for eta or other non gen movement? Other potential movements that would not need dial feet cut other than a gen? Or are there better options for the hands for eta? Lastly best aftermarket Oyster bracelet for this set up? Any help much appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The noob bracelet on the sub c is excellent. Very gen like and the glide lock clasps are great. And BK is great to work with and delivers excellent product. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Good afternoon, I have read much on GMT builds since joining the forum. While I do not understand all the terminology yet, I have learned some things since joining, like developing a solid plan at the beginning so I am seeking help from the forum on my first build. I am not lazy and have done a lot of reading but with my knowledge set some of the information seems conflicting. A very experienced watch smith and forum member is going to help me (actually he is building) a GMT Pepsi and this is the gen dial that is the start for the project. It is from around 1988. To go with the gen dial, I have a source for OEM gen insert, crown and crystal so those are parts I hope to use. Looking for suggestions on case set that will accept the gen parts. Suggestions for aftermarket Oyster bracelet. Not sure about gen bracelet yet due to cost. Plan to use a Swiss ETA movement so suggestions on hands as well.
  4. Guys check out this site. Based out of Seattle. They build custom espresso machines and they are beautiful and functional. Really nice work, much like a fine time piece these guys really make art. http://www.slayerespresso.com/

  8. Hi and welcome to the form. Go to the trusted dealer section on this forum and stick to the trusted dealers. Anything $1000 plus is a scam. I know from experience before I found this forum. Do some reading and researching and you will be much happier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Wow, that sucks. Initially ,one of the reasons I joined the forum was to keep from getting scammed but by dealers not buyers. I agree with above statement this will make it harder for noobs to buy. PP is a great tool for honest buyers and sellers and makes for quick and easy transactions (bought a watch Monday while driving to work using the PP app on my phone) but if this type of behavior continues no one will want to use it. Glad I saw this; while I do not sell a lot of watches I will be more diligent in looking at the buyer in the future.
  10. Nice NATO thanks for the review. I have bought several from different vendors and have not been overly impressed other than the gen pro hunter but $100 bucks..... This looks well made for reasonable $$ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Traveling today to Homer AK for work. Sporting the BK Sub C Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Interesting topic. I strongly agree that those in the know should protect and help those who don't. Seems like that is what this forum is all about and how it came about. I actually bought a "Rolex Submariner" about 15 years ago on eBay that was a well done rep. It was described and sold as gen and I paid gen money for it and did not find out it was not a gen until I took it to an AD. I had a friend of mine check it out on the bay before I bought it and he thought it was a gen. He is a watch guy but not nearly as knowledgeable as many on this forum, so he could not tell. So was it my fault I bought a fake watch for gen money? To some degree yes, but I did research on the watch, checked the seller out, and had someone who is an "expert" check it out before buying it, but still got duped. The point is that even those who take the time to do research and utilize resources to make more informed decisions can fall victim to being scammed. Like if I see some guy beating up his girlfriend should I just ignore it and move on or should I take some action to right the wrong.........
  13. Wow that is amazingly cool and unique. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. Thanks Tony. Contact Matt, don't want to say as is was part of a package deal. Very reasonable for what is is and the workmanship. Delivered it today. Friend is very happy. He may have caught what we all have. He was asking about more builds....I think he's in trouble Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Tried the 3m pad this morning on my BK Sub C. Works awesome and is quick and easy. Then did a white lightning. Now like gen:). Smooooth Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. My favorite vintage Daytona silver with black. Someday I will drop the coin for one. Beautiful piece Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Out of 10 watches I have bought in the last 4 months, 4 needed work upon arrival or shortly after arrival. Just part of our crazy hobby. I personally won't send back to dealer based on what experience members of the forum have stated. I found a good trustworthy watch smith and send them to him to fix. Not only to fix the identified problem but to check them out and perform any other beneficial services. Then I know I have something I can wear and enjoy and know it should last. Just my 2 cents.
  19. Couple are out with Matt getting fixed/serviced but here is a crappy pic of my start to a collection. Have a TC also but not pictured. Need to work on some vintage pieces now and really want a nice vintage GMT
  20. Wow. Me jealous I am more like 3k down and 900 a month on 36 month lease. That's usd of course. I am a car guy and keep up on pricing and such. Man you got a smokin deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Very nice. Love European cars. Just ordered a 2015 Audi S5 cabriolet. Now I have to wait 12-16 weeks. Fit and finish similar to MB. Need a Quattro for winter but droptop for summer so Audi is really only option. Enjoy that ride Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Love that--just do it. Little worried that if I like them I will start buying them like Rolexes. Then my collection will look like marti's. I am actively looking on sales boards on all forum for a basic simple dial piece or the new "superclone" looks nice and love that power reserve action Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
