  1. +1 avoid polishes. I ruined a sub bracelet using a polish. Luckily it was an old two tone sub with solid gold mid links so just polished it out all they way and actually looks kind of vintage but would not want that with a solid SS brushed piece. Try white lightning bike chain lube. Works great. There are some threads on it around here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Very nice collection Marti. I have yet to branch/brand out...Rolex guy but lately been looking at a basic Pam. They just look comfy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. To the OP. No expert still a noob but bought 10 watches or so in last few months. I like both the TC and BK. But they are very different watches. One based on the modern sub ceramic (BK) which is wider at the lugs and has a ceramic bezel insert and one based on the classic sub size with classic insert (TC). You can google the models online to review. I will say for a watch guy who really does not have a lot of knowledge or modding expertise, buying these is nice because they come ready to wear, running well with everything aligned. I have had issues with out of box reps and have had to send them to be fixed as I am yet capable to do it myself. I like them both. To me it is worth the extra money and waiting time. There are features I like about the BK as I like the glide lock clasp a lot. But I have had many genuine classic subs and still like the size and feel of the old school 16610 sub like the TC. To me both have the "feel" of a gen time piece but they both have "little" tells that even someone like me can see which as some other posts suggested can be corrected with some gen parts. At the end of the day just need decide what style you like best. Also can look for a watch in the sales area. I have had better luck buying from other members than from the factories and in many cases these are already "modded or fixed" to be better with gen goodies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thank you. I recently found some green scotchbright wheels for the dremel. But using pad by hands makes sense. I will try that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I forget the number but it is an S "cabriolet" with the AMG stuff. It is pretty small so gotta be 200 or 300 model definitely not a 500 size; although I did see a new full on 500 S droptop coming out in 2016. I am an Audi guy so I recommended the RS 5 droptop about the same $$ but he likes MB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. No he's not a rapper, he is a good musician but heavy metal:). He is more of an "OG". We used to do a lot of crazy things back in the day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Hi guys, since joining the forum I have really met some nice people and really enjoy this hobby. Thank you for being here. As some would know from my posts I am a big fan of MyManMatt. I have worked with him on several watches and asked him to build this custom Day Date for a friend of mine who really likes bling. Before you flame me or him, know that he can pull off a diamond watch. He is a very wealthy guy who owns a beautiful house and several nice rides, including a brand new S class droptop Benz that I think he plans to floss with this piece. I tend to be flashy and this is a beautiful piece, but is not my style. I thought I would post some pics before I deliver it to him. As always Matt is a pleasure to do business with and his work is always top notch. This was delivered with Box and papers and packaged beautifully. On to the pics: Can't say enough about Matt as a Watch Smith and a person. Just a first class individual. FYI, we know about the "Swiss" print correctness on the dial. My friend was not concerned with that. He is not really a "watch" guy. He knew he wanted a black dialed gold Rolex with diamonds and looked at some in Vegas. He was close to dropping 50K on one but sent me a text as to whether I could find something like that in a rep. That is how this project started. Matt was patient in sending many pictures and emails in finding the right combination. Thank you Matt.

  10. You bet. In fact same black diamond dial but with diamond bezel and gold bracelet. My friend thinks he's a rapper....actually it is a beautiful piece. Matt does amazing work. On the road for work but home tomorrow may be there when I arrive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Work travels this week. Some casual meetings and some suits. Only brought a sub....I know sub with suit.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I think I may find something in the mail that looks like that this week....except the one arriving will have more bling. Matt built a beauty for a friend of mine that is in transit. I will post up some pics before I deliver it to him.
  13. Tom, yes the supercharged 6 is like a different car. Performs and sounds more like my RS4. Spent an hour or so today driving around in one. Big difference from my current model. You can change cars performance settings with the computer in the MMI. It is really cool 4 settings change the characteristics from comfort, sport and dynamic and 1 user setting option. The dual clutch tranny works like a stall converter on a race car. You can apply brake at a stop and wind it to 3500 rpm and launch it. The new sport differential acts more like a rear wheel drive when you have it in dynamic mode. You can actually get the back end to slide pretty good. I think I may have scared the salesman a little a couple of times. Only problem is they are not going to offer the Ice Silver for 2015 so now I have to figure out what color. The new silver has a blue tint to it. I am waiting to get some samples of the new colors. Could end up with another Black one. They were wrong about estimated time. I cannot even get a formal order in for three weeks. Really close to buying a new 2014 in black but did not have the titanium wheels and I hate buying a new car that is almost a year old......in car years. Car exceeded my expectations for performance and I have built and owned many fast cars and some race cars. Go drive one, I think you will be impressed.
  14. Hey Tom, Very nice,I think I chose the same color and similar wheel pattern. Audi makes an excellent car. Had a 2007 RS 4 then the 2010 cabrio I have now. Going to sign all the paperwork this afternoon. I will post some pics once she arrives. Mark
  15. Hi guys, in process of ordering a 2015 Audi S5 droptop to replace my 2010. Some new features on this model. Adaptive suspension control, sport differential, dual clutch transmission, and titanium wheels Nothing available with the options I chose so I have to order it and wait 12-16 weeks. It will be Ice Silver with black top and titanium wheels. Silver and black interior with carbon fiber inlays. First thing I will do is paint the grill black and install a Stasis chip to control the computer and add some more HP!!! Cheesy picture from the PDF build on Audi's website. Pretty excited should have the order completed tomorrow. What you think of the build. Usually do black but sick of buffing and waxing all the time. Silver with the dark wheels should be easier upkeep.
  16. Wow, who puts that in a watch and ships it to someone who paid for it...........Ouch that is really bad.
  17. You can pay a little more and get a BK and know it will arrive in good working order with a Swiss eta. Bert is great to work with and his stuff holds up IMO. Last couple I got from TD had issues and I had to have fixed by my watchsmith so added expense and wait time. If it was me I would go BK or TC or look for a M2M deal on one of the sales threads. 18. Thanks cromag. Just had a new insert put in and service by Matt. Thought she was done but Matt got her all fixed up. One of my all time favorites. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Old school 16613 with real 18 k bezel and bracelet links and a gen crown. This is a very old rep from 2000 or so but has held up for a long time:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Oh if you haven't figured me out yet I am a car first and watch guy second...why I have car stuff in the garage. It worked excellent though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Pan, your 6542 is my favorite watch of all time:). Every time I see it I go back to reading threads about how to build one. Unfortunately there are many opinions about this process which leads to more confusion. Someday my friend, someday.... I may do as the OP and start with a more simple sub build for my first one. For sure big crown no date though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks guys, Wet dry sand paper, then fine wire brush, then dremel wool pad with auto body rubbing compound medium then fine mesh, then mothers mag wheel polish. The mothers works great on anything metal. Then repeat all processes several times. Finished with soft buff pad and maquires yellow carnauba wax. Dremel works great for this but you need a bunch of different pads. And a lot of time and patience. Unfortunately I took some of the platinum off the insert so may have to redo that but not sure yet as it kind of makes it looked aged like the case. Wish I had more confidence to take off bezel and crystal to fix the dial issue but spent quit a bit of $$$ on this one so chicken **** and will send to Matt to fix. Someday soon I will take one apart just not this one:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
