My first rep from 2003 a real POS but just in office all day today. Sold 3 units, waiting for 2 units that are being built and coming to me in the next couple of weeks and my everyday favorite Sub Blue TT is being renovated, so not as many choices these days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That Omega BP 1912 is just stunning, what a beautiful time piece. -
Thanks, just starting to mess with my own watches, so sizing/changing bracelets, removing the back and simple stuff to start. Going to take apart some old units I do not wear anymore to kind of get the feel of it.

Any suggestions on a reasonably priced watch repair kit? There are a million of them out there. Thanks

Wow cool thread. I like everything but country and western. Listening to notorious BIG on way home today. Love 60-70's Beatles Stones Doors Zeppelin Sabbath Steely Dan Rush.....then Iron Maiden Slayer Motörhead Van Halen Ozzy....really anything heavy onto through the grunge era Alice in Chains Nirvana Soundgarden....Sinatra Dianna Krall any good jazz even some classical. Gangster rap tu PAC biggie dre snoop.... Some r&b too. Have a great in wall Klipsch system for my home theater with a 600 watt rms Klipsch sub mounted in the floor. All in all Zeppelin Maiden and Steely Dan are probably most listened to Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Hello, I collect watches but have limited knowledge about the different models, parts and so on and I really do not work on them (yet). I am evaluating the possibility of building a vintage Sub--circa 50-60's like a 6538 or 5508 with nato or leather strap like Bond wears in the early movies. Looked around and see vintage gens going for 15-150K really don't want to spend that much. I have seen some nice vintage watches posted here but appears the owners collected the parts and built it themselves. Is it possible to have a rep or a fraken like this built by someone here in the forum? I am not that concerned with it being perfect or exact match but something that resembles it. Mainly looking for that vintage Rolex look with strap. If possible who might be a good contact for something like this. I realize this will probably be an expensive project.

Thanks Sputim, very happy with it. Actually happier each day I wear it. It keeps great time and once the lume charged wow what a difference over my old Sub and I really did not realize how much bigger the body was compared to my older Sub either. Love the size. The bracelet is actually nicer than my old gen bracelet. My TC YM will be here in the next few weeks so looking forward to that.

Which watch would you consider a super rep?
droptopman replied to cajunjay27's topic in General Discussion
+1 All about enjoying what is on the wrist. New here to RWG, but have loved watches for a long time. Gens generally stay in the safe. Wear the reps most of the time. The people I socialize with know I collect watches and have gens, but they also know that I wear reps because I am upfront about it and I would rather have many watches than just a few. With those who are close to me and see me daily like some co workers it is a little game, now it that one a gen or a rep? I love watches whether they are gens or reps. For me it is all about liking what is on the wrist not whether someone can tell or not--more about how much I like it. I actually like it when people comment on a watch I am wearing, Then I tell them it is a rep that someone worked on to make it look like this, I looked long and hard for this rep and saved ?K that I can spend on my wife or golf or cigars or cars or other things I really like. To me it is fun to talk about the pursuit of watches (gens or reps) sharing the passion for time pieces with others and drawing them into our hobby. Now I am not saying to just by any rep, do some research and buy the one you like and makes you happy. I spent some time looking around here and my taste led me to some of the builders/modders who take a rep and mod it or clean it up to improve it. That suits my eye, that attention to detail. Not because I want to pass it off as a gen but because it looks better to me and when it is on my wrist I will be proud to wear it. You can find them in the TD section. -
That is a beauty the finish looks like one of my humidors which was expensive. Dig the glass on the front to see the stored watches. Probably not looking to drop that much coin unless there is a reason for it. I did some more research and so far outside of looks and the quality of the wood and finish, main difference is the noise factor and durability or the motors. One I have now was inexpensive but is somewhat noisy. My main question was around whether the way it turns and how often made a difference to the watch movements or is bad for the movements. I plan to keep this in my safe where the other one is--drilled a hole to run the cord in so I can keep the watches in the safe (some gens in there) so noise factor and looks is not much of a concern. Thanks for the information and taking the time to respond.

Yes working on that. Maybe doing something with my Blue TT Sub along those lines. Sending to BK to evaluate what we might be able to do. After seeing some of the vintage Rolexes with the Nato straps that is also something I am looking to have built-you know the 007 thing. I guess at some point I will start working on my own stuff but not yet. Build up the collection a little more then buy some units to work on down the road. I have a nice little shop for working on golf clubs so an area to work on watches could be next.

Gentleman, I have an old 4 slot winder purchased on the bay--see profile picture. Still works great just need more room. I did a search on this topic but did not find much. I have made some orders (BK Sub C v2 and a TC FD YM) and new watches are coming, cannot wait Looking at upgrading and buying a new winder with more slots. Is there a difference in quality of winders? Prices range from 250 - 1000. Looking at this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/191028232761?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Any help appreciated.
