  1. OK guys and gals, It is with a heavy heart that I have to retire my first rep from 2004. Sent it to BK for a potential WM9 spa/upgrade but it is such a POS nothing will fit on it. It is a vintage TT blue and gold sub with a ETA 2836-2. One of the old reps with solid gold bezel, crown and bracelet. Bought it long before I found this place. Paid like $1500 for it back then. Not sure what to do with it at this point--melt down the gold? Any suggestions?
  2. Been shopping for a bigger winder since I have bought many more watches since finding this place Some of the better winders actually have settings for each wheel. For example an 8 watch winder holds 2 watches on each wheel. Could set first wheel at 800 for 2 ETA 2836 then have a different setting for the next wheel based on the movement. The winder I have now turns them all at the same speed with various movement and I have not had any problems with the watches, so not sure how important this is as jpz stated above may not make a difference. Just thought it was cool.
  3. Presentation in front of large group today so little more dressy. Still amazed at the quality of mymanmatt's work. Just love the look and feel of this watch. Check the cuff links Sunshine is out today, Audi is washed....gonna smoke a Liga Privada T52 on the way home after the presentation...Life if Good
  4. Man you take some beautiful pictures. Artistic.
  5. Mothers works good on polished bracelets and cases too. Love that stuff been using it on car builds for years and polished out my gen sub bracelet with it as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Great looking piece here. Great colors and dig those hands. Love the vintages with no date/cyclops. I have been sourcing parts for a GMT 6542 Pepsi build and I am contemplating having custom white dial made with no date. Be total fantasy watch but be cool to me. The one off Pan Am no date GMT....Putting that on a nato as well.
  7. YM today with suit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Man that is awesome. Who would have thunk it. Oh, you did. That is innovative/smart. I think I will try it. I have a couple of nice printers. Quality of paper make a difference, I would assume it would.
  9. Man I need a new camera but what the ******** I will post a pic anyways. Taking the day off today to just relax and research the 6542.......I am digging this piece though--CLASSY
  10. If you like it, that is what really counts. I have never been into diamonds so not my taste, but a buddy of mine is building one very similar and he is 50. He is into that "OG" thing so it suits his personality. I am more a gold watch on a strap guy or a SS sport watch guy. Everyone's tastes are different. Whatever makes you happy. But hey back in the 80's I may have rocked something like this with a gold and diamond pinkie ring and a bunch of gold chains......... even a fat gold bracelet. I still have all that stuff from back then just never gets out of the box:)
  11. Zip thank you for your service and for protecting our freedoms. I still have and wear my first watch purchase in 1985 a two tone Movado quartz. Still runs good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks pan153 you would not believe how many shots I took to get those ****** pics... Your DD was the one that inspired me. Matt is awesome, a great guy. Thanks for the help on this. I may be asking for more help, my next project is a white dial 6542 1958 Pan Am. Heard you may have some experience with that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks Guys, Matt sourced the parts. I will get the exact build list from him. I believe it is gen dial, crystal, cyclops, with a solid gold crown and bezel but the case is gold plated. It was too much $ for a solid gold case. With 3 croc straps and a gen buckle I was a little over my initial budget, but I think it is worth it. PM me and I will give more information on the cost....But you could do it for less or more depending on amount of gen parts. It looks better in person than in the pics
  14. Thanks MOAB, yes it is even border line for me at 7.25. Wife is already eying it....Fits her perfect. Ordered some gold Rolex cufflinks too, so this will be the dressy one for work. I am really happy with the way it turned out. Wish he did the DJ and DD II in 41mm, that would be perfect.
  15. Good afternoon, this just arrived at my door. I am terrible with the pictures but will keep working at it. This is my new dress watch for suits. Built by Matt with some gen goodies. My first real custom rep that I got to pick what went on it. Matt is great to work with. Super responsive, patient (I'm a noob) knowledgeable, skilled and friendly. A real master. Here are some pics. I also have 2 croc straps from the strap master coming to use with the gen buckle (tan/black). Next project a 6542. What do you think of the DD?
  16. This just came in the mail. Will post some more pics in a minute:)
  17. Mymanmatt+1. He can build anything prices range on gen goodies requested. My DD that Matt built suppose to be delivered today. I will post pics...he is great to work with Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. thanks I appreciate it. The way the strap/bracelet connects to the case is different than other watches--even with the bracelets. To some degree the connection is hidden and underneath. Different and kinda cool.
  19. Awesome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hi, I found this while looking for a bigger watch winder and somewhat like the looks of their watches. http://www.xetum.com/gallery/ Anyone ever seen these before or have any experience with this maker? Kinda like the way the strap connects to the case
  21. Hi Mike, we have similar taste in the busy dials. Why I generally do not prefer the AP's or Breitlings. I like ML, always liked their work--classy watches. I also like the Carrera jpz posted. At the end of the day not really a chrono fan. Had a gen Daytona a few years ago and never wore it much and sold it. Agree with Archie those hands are pretty awesome and the separate month and date function is unique. That is a beauty.
  22. Looks great. I love mine. The bracelet on these is better than my old gen Sub bracelet. Way better.
  23. Wow, that is a lot of posts. Hey I only have 6,865 posts to go.
  24. Wow, that is awesome. Great case and collection.
