I know most of you do not care for gold, but needed to give my Matt Date some love and wrist time. It is hard to describe how nice Matt's work is. Pictures do not really do this time piece justice.
Matt has told me stories about some of the prices from back then. I read a post on one of the rolex forums that a guy said he worked at an AD in early 70's and got a Daytona at cost less 10% so like less than $200. Crazy we might pay double that or more for a plexi. If I remember correctly my 16613 in 1987 was well under 5k brand new.

Thanks Steve
Mine has one of his dials and it is nice. Actually I like the whole piece just need to replace the glass with a plexi and maybe a different insert.

As stated learn to use the search feature. I found this in about 2 minutes. You were right the first 2 places I looked only had DJ II. Pure Time has a bunch of 36mm. Here is one as you described http://www.pure-time.com/product/datejust-116234-ss-white-dial-roman-markers-on-ss-bracelet-sa3135/ but with the upgraded movement. He has a bunch of options there with cheaper movements, different dials, bracelets and bezels. For this kind of money I would definitely look at a mymanmatt build depending on your budget.
Good luck
Hi all,
Been looking for some time for a decent 7206 rivet bracelet. Really do not want to spend 1K + for a gen, so evaluating other options. I have been searching all the forums sales boards for months with the hope of finding one of the highly sought after old style Yuki's with no luck. Most have said to avoid the new version. Anyone have any experience with other vendors? Phong and NDTrading both have a 7206 or maybe other suggestions.
Any help much appreciated.
Same here, I have small wrists for a guy my size @ 7.25. I really thought I would like the larger modern Rolex's, one of the reasons I found the forum. I also tried a Pam. Just do not work for me. Only Rolex and 40mm max for me.
As for the original post, if people have to ask.....usually means they should not be asking. Reminds me of when my wife asks does this look *****)#Q($*!@#(^$).
I love naturally faded inserts and naturally aged watches, but most I have seen that people try to age by hand do not look right. Not all, some members have pulled off some really nice looking "vintagized" pieces, but some others just look beat to death...
Please listen to the feedback you have received. That are many scam sites and no 1:1 reps. Some models are repped better than others. You may want to look at a different model that has less flaws.
I love the look of the gen T25-21 dome on mine. Based on what I have read on this thread, my gen bezel must be from a 1018 or DJ? Regardless I would not change a thing on my build, other than if I find a gen dial at some point for a decent price.
I learn something everyday on this forum
Good luck with the build dieselpower
Now that is just COLD.....few more years here then we are moving to Phoenix/Scottsdale. Almost took a position down there 2 years ago, but just having a hard time leaving the org I work for. I am a golfer and obviously a convertible car guy, so I hate winters. As I get older I hate them more. Damn arthritis kills me this time of year....
It is now hitting us in the Pacific Northwest. We have had unusually warm weather this fall. I played golf in shorts on Saturday and the high today will be in the low 30's with very cold winds. I think we skipped fall and went straight into winter. Suppose to snow in the next couple of days.
