I have a sec at 6 killed movement that was serviced by rob and purchased some gen hands which the seller says will ft on rep movement with the right watch repair guy. The local guy here says no. Is this possible?

I decided to swap my slightly scuffed gen dial and new gen hands I just received in the mail into my panda with killed 6 and chief AR. I do not have the tools to do repairs yet..... (been thinking about learning for years) So i had a recommendation here on 47th St in NYC that I had fix a stem on a sinn and did ok work. I needed my aquatimer date wheel reset so I figured I would test them with this repair. The gen hands did not fit, i should have checked but I remember a time when you bought gen parts from people and they let you know what as what with compatibility. Oh well, my fault. So I am left with a silver handed blue dial. I am kinda liking it. I can never tell in person with various reflections which gen is which so getting called it is not likely. The dial also looks just fine with the naked eye which I am pleased with. The rep dial does have a funny lacquer on it after seeing this one in. What do you guys think? Leave it? The bad part of the story is even with a warning the guys at the shop scratched the ar coating badly. It is not visible to the naked eye and only under a loupe but still it is such a shame that no one takes price in there work anymore here in NYC. Never take for granted the people who do good work here.

I guess maybe everything is debatable on rep vs gen. So my questions really are - does the gen crystal improve this issue? - can the rehaut be adjusted in anyway?

Those two watches look great. My previously owned old school eddie cased and DSN cased super reps were at least an extra 50 percent deeper than that and as a result and most important lacked that pop and polish the dial appearing up close to the crystal gives on your examples. In my mind it looks like a non ar'ed crystal vs a chief one on an IWC. One pops and looks like a million bucks and one looks average and dull.

It's really douchebag land over there these days. The latest GTG photos have more beer bellies and [censored] packs than ever. Ever other photo has a guy with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth flipping off the camera. Stay classy paneristi.

For me babola, there is something to worry about otherwise I would not have posted Forget accuracy for a second, it just looks plain awkward especially on a non ar crystal. I have never seen any gen with a deep rehaut, for sure not a 201/a. I have seen many in person. The rep I posted is a mild example. There was one just posted that appears so deep it is casting a shadow over the numbers at a very mild angle. My gen dial "appears" closer and close as you tilt it. The reps do not do that. Which might indicate crystal distortion contributes to the effect. A buddy of mine at work has a The Zigmeister/dsn/fgd 002 I got for him, its visible from across the room. Has a sort of "dial at the bottom of a coke bottle look". Which might indicate crystal distortion contributes to the effect. I have had some great fgd, franken reps next to gen 201's, 002's, 112..... It's not subtle and accuracy aside, the shallow rehaut is simply more pleasing to the eye. This is all just my opinion and issue of course.

I have owned my share of hand wind luminors and they are one of my favorite watch designs of all time and I currently have a gen 176g. I have pulled the trigger on various super reps but can never get over the fact that the rehaut appears drastically deeper than the gens. Many people are particular about CG levers, caseback engravings,etc but this seems so much more pronounced. My question is what is the issue? - would a gen crystal solve this with less distortion? -is the case rehaut cut to deep on dsn, jimmy and cartel cases? -are the dials thinner in some way? Just curious from the experts what is going on. I would love to finally get a FGD dialed rep I could live with If the owner of the rep photo objects I will remove it.

I bought that one on a whim not sure if I would like it. I have gotten more compliments on it than any watch I have ever owned. Also the top gun with chief just raises the watch to a level above gen. The heavy blue tint on the gen on a watch like the aquatimer is passable but on the top gun it really ruins the look. The chief crystal next to the ceramic is really something else.

i have gotten in the habit of going to paneristi now just because it has gotten so douchebaggy that it is like watching a car accident. I have been a poster/lurker there for a while and I really despise it now.

I am that "smart alec" that emailed you about the dial and since you want to be that way about it, neither of those photos really look like the coloring of the gens I have seen in my humble opinion but i am sure his watch must be a gen and possibly just different than I have seen. I was going to order one to check it out, but maybe I will pass after this. My issue is..... At this very moment, the photo on josh's site and these photos are VERY VERY different in color. I am sure as soon as he reads this he might change them. I suggested in an email that the photos might just be overexposed and that nothing might be wrong with the watch. Why not just say the photos on your site got a little overexposed and not call names......

i asked josh why the markers are basically neon orange. He said his gen that they "dissected" was like that. Sure it was buddy........ Never ceases to amaze.

Just got mine. I'll post pics later but regarding the rubber strap. It looks fine but smells so sweet and nasty it gave me a headache yesterday wearing it.

Looking forward to the black bezel white letter version. (not the bone grey bezel with beige lettering, on josh and andrews site)
