I will buy shortly a nice gen watch to my local AD...here is the choice that makes me hesitate:
1) Omega speedmaster MK2 co-axial , black dial from december 2014 in great condition.
2) Rolex explorer 2 16570 , white dial, from 1997, in very good condition.
I love them both, but what do you guys think...should i stay with Rolex or should i try this beautiful Omega reissue of the vintage 1969 speedy ?
End of story for me; i received the watch this morning, and when i tried to remove to tube with the right tool, this tube suddenly broke in the middle... half of the tube stayed inside the tube !
They must have used a VERY strong glue when screwing this stock tube.
I made this operation maybe 20 times and it's the first time i see that !
I unscrewed the rest of the tube but the case thread is definitely destroyed now; i feel a bit sad because this watch is really nice
WELL SAID !!!
I think exactly the same... to re tap is a real job and if you are unlucky this day, there is 50% of chance to definitely ruin the thread
Yes, i will share some pics when i get all the parts !
I got a good new from automatico today; he told me that most part of MBW cases have the good thread to fit a gen tube... if ever mine is not correct, i will re tap the thread !
I found today the right tap (3.0x0.35) i lost at home to do the job; i did this mod a few years ago on a 5512 cartel case
Thanks for this great comparison my friend...I have a gen spec tube on the way to install on the MBW case !
Miracles do not exist this time
I received also a mint wrapped 703 crown(gen) from a french seller, and i want to share the link.
They are for sale for only 42 euros+ shipping http://www.watchesulike.com/fr/rolex/8894-couronne-rolex-submariner-acier.html
Could we have a picture of the stock MBW tube next to your athaya tube to compare ? Thanks in advance
I remember that the stock cartel tube has a very small diameter...i guess this is bigger on MBW
