  1. Im sure there are still some around in China in the watch markets. They havent been out of production very long so I cant see them being impossible to get. They wouldnt be offered to the dealers anymore so they would have to ask around and source one for you. I bet Mary could find some. She seems more than willing to go hunt down exactly what you want. As for the pics above, its for sure a SSD and looks like v2. The V1 had an incorrect slightly thinner bezel and braclet where some of the screws were too long.
  2. even if these policies were put into place by Brill, why would they make any major changes to the system? Rolex has been pretty darn successful so I dont see them changing the way things work. Plus if you could walk into an AD and buy a new 9315 NOS bracelet and a new "paul newman" dial for your Daytona, it would kill the vintage parts market and high pricing.... and yes also contribute to franken building. There would be a HUGE increase in the amount of frankens out there for sale. Anyone could get a yuki 1680, throw in a gen NOS dial on the ETA movement, add a bezel insert and 93150 bracelet and throw it on ebay for $5500. Not good.
  3. Wow these new MBW's sure look good. Much different than my old 5513 case. Nice lug holes and even the crown guards look not too bad at all... Could you take a pic of the face straight on so we can see the crown guards?
  4. What mods have you done? It doesnt look like a stock MBW. It looks pretty good. Where did you get that watch from? Those folded links look like the ones on that new mystery 9315 bracelet being discussed on VRF. I think I might have to get one of these!
  5. The new crown looks much better. Like Dluddy said.. Icing on the cake!
  6. Awesome!! I love it! Makes my MBW based 1665 look like crap! ha ha ha You sure dont see many 1665 service dials around. I can only imagine what that dial cost you... Good work my friend! Time for you to enjoy your new watch
  7. So they take your old and faded Submariner inserts with tritium pearls that are worth $750 on ebay... then YOU pay THEM a couple hundred bucks, and in return you get a nice new insert worth $150 on ebay/ Same thing for those faded old red Sub inserts and those ugly Comex dials, and those old 1959 "big logo" oyster bracelets that are so popular right now... Rolex hords these parts on purpose to keep the cool "New old stock" stuff as rare as possible. That way they can get away with slowly leaking out 9315 NOS bracelets and 6163 dials so the dealers can sell them for MORE than a new oyster bracelet or a new dial. If you needed a new dial for your old daytona, it would cost you $2000+ for NOS. If you needed a new dial for your new daytona, it would be less than half of that. I would bet there is a small section hidden in the back of the HUGE Rolex factory where they crank out "New old stock" dials and bracelets and leak them out to the dealers. "Excuse me Mr. Rolex Boss man, I just found a box of 10 big-logo oyster bracelets, 10 comex 5514 dials, 10 Military 5517 dials, three 3CROC daytona dials, two 3CRCO daytona dials and 50 Brevet 8mm crowns in the back storage room of the store. They must have been put there 50 years ago and forgotten about". Yeah right. Reliable sources at Rolex have stated, that Rolex headquarters has enough 1570 cal Rolex movement parts stocked, they will be able to reliably service such movements for the next 30 years if they wanted to. Think about that. Thats a LOT of parts piled up somewhere just for that single movement alone. I bet the same thing goes for the other parts too. I think there will always be 'just the right amount' of NOS floating around to keep the old stuff at the same value or higher as the new stuff.
  8. Like Freddy says its hard to tell from that angle... but it does look EXACTLY like my MBW1680 when I look at it from the same angle as the pic.... the crown doesnt matter because we all know you can put a gen crown and tube on just about any Submariner case.
  9. Ok you are right, put me down for 10 of them on the first order! Hopefully Mary can find some info for us! Dizz
  10. Perhaps a case of NOS bracelets that a Rolex AD found in their basement or something? Now i see that its shipped out of Hong Kong... hhhmmmm...
  11. Yes my gen 380 end link stamps are also closer to the center the same as Freddys. Either way, if this is a rep bracelet, its by far the best one ever made. It looks as though the rep cornet was copied from a gen that was previously polished because Freddys looks sharper than both of the ones in the VRF post...
  12. Its look almost too good, especially the stamping on the clasp blades... Looks like someone finally deceided it was time to make a proper bracelet.. almost like Rolex started up production again... can you imagine if Rolex started leaking out vintage replacement parts to take away a piece of the counterfeit market. Yes i know I'm dreaming... The only real "faults" if you can call them that, are the cornet on the clasp is slightly off and the links are too thick. Other than that, its going to fool everyone who doesnt have a gen bracelet and a loop for side by side comparison!! Awesome!
  13. .... a vice or two pairs of vice grips and pull the last link apart. Then replace the SEL with the appropriate link that will connect to the old style end link. Then you put it together loosely and make sure the pins are lined up then use a vice to carefully press everything back together.
  14. WOW sign me up!!!! Lets do a group buy! I almost want to ask the guy if i can buy it. He will probably throw it in the trash or destroy it.
  15. You cant even find a gen white sea-dweller for under $10k... double reds are 3 times that price. Bidding got up to $900 on this one with 4 days remaining. He probably got a lot of emails questioning its authenticity.

    Cyclop Ar

Just putting AR on the cyclops wont do very much if anything at all... Search for freddy33's post on his ceramic GMTII crystal mod for more info. The gen crystal has more than just a AR'd cyclops...
  17. I'd pull off the insert and have a look at that first, but there are many posts about crystals not being seated properly from the factory. When you get the insert off, you should be able to see whats going on. If you dont have a crystal press, you could use a bench vice and some pieces of wood carved to the right shape to press on the crystal and case without damaging it. Just be sure not to use tooooo much force, as you dont want to break the crystal or mangle the crystal gasket or anything.
  18. I have to agree. Its worth more as is. If you swap the dial for a incorrect part, then you are turning a gen into a franken.
  19. Is the DW case made to accept the gen Valjoux 7734 movement or generic replica movement like an ETA 2836-2 or 7750? What movement are you using? What type of clips are you using? Are they too long? too short? Too big? too small? Need a little more info to help you out
  20. Oh yeah you are right, I forgot about the 'jumbo' Tudor sizes. You could just get a day wheel of a rolex day date rep. I might have a day wheel laying around, i will have a look. I have one you can have it.
  21. There was a guy VRF or TURF that showed all the serial numbers and every engraving on his gen $150,000 5517 mil sub and everyone was freaking out about it lol
  22. I think the best bracelet is the WM9 or the Noobmariner.... just pull off the SEL's and convert it to a floppy endlink. The numbers wont be correct but personally I really dont worry about little things like that. The hollow link MBW 93150 links are good.. just swap on a gen clasp and you are good to go. You're still looking at $300 give or take to build that so you may as well spend $500 or so and get an all gen bracelet. At least you can sell it later and get your money back if you want
  23. solid mid links on the Yuki... I dont know why someone doesnt make a GOOD 93150? They would make a killing on it. Yuki needs one thats the same accuracy and quality as his rivet stretchy bracelet that freddy did a review on. Thats the one I would get because its fairly correct for a 1665. Same time period anyways...
  24. JMB would know for sure.. If its the same dial diameter then it would work. You would need to get the Rolex replica day and date wheels. The gen dial windows wont line up with these ETA wheels. You would just need to find a rep day-date and pull the overlays off it.
